    Applewhite Out

I mean, I would. But I wouldn't cheat on my wife over that. Or Applewhite's, either.
  2. No, he went into politics instead of pastries.
  3. I'm not holding my breath, nor spending one cent to find out. I'll wait to see what people who are paid to watch his movies have to say.
  4. Nobody in high school in 2023 uses Twitter or Facebook.
  5. Hitchhiker's Guide, too.
  6. Blah blah blah. Already covered this. The bloom fell off that particular rose last year. If we gain nothing else from Trump, can we at least realize that the notion that presidents are somehow Great or Worthy by virtue is the Office is, and always has been, stupid? I'm pretty sure no one has deserved that praise during my lifetime, which began sometime around when "Watergate" became a household name. And you can work backwards from there. Fuck em all, even the ones I like. It really is. It's too bad that there are THREE boobs in that photo.
  7. I assure you that very few of those outfits look like something a high schooler would wear today. The girls in sweats, basically. You know what became huge between '04 and today? Yoga pants. Yoga pants everywhere.
  8. simmons has apparently disavowed the movie https://variety.com/2024/film/news/richard-simmons-not-involved-pauly-shore-biopic-permission-1235875743/ so it seems like it will have all the sensitivity and tact we've come to expect from Mr Shore (ie, none)
  9. take the loss, pussy
  10. It's not so much "Both Sides" as it is a bunch of trade-offs, many of which have changed over time. Windows got better at being secure (on purpose); Mac got worse at being reliable (not on purpose) and working out of the box with third party stuff (on purpose). The big thing for me over the past two decades is I've gone from using Windows/Linux for work and Apple for home to using Apple for work and Windows/Linux for home. (To wit, if you're running a recent version of Win 10 or 11, you've got Linux in there, too.)
  11. Why? Of the following: 1. Trump repeatedly fails to pay his counsel 2. Trump fires counsel who tell him what he doesn't want to hear 3. Trump is on the losing end of most of these cases 4. Trump frequently refuses to listen to the advice of his counsel 5. Trump is generally in denial of reality and expects his employees to also believe his bullshit Which of the above makes you think he would have better attorneys? Because I don't see very many good attorneys willing to work under such conditions. So he's a former president. Big fuckin deal. Just proves what our Founding Fathers already knew -- any dipshit can become president if you get enough dipshits to vote for him.
  12. looking at neonmoon's graph... my kids are 9 years apart and definitely a generation apart... There are some really significant changes between her experience and his.
  13. I didn't mind it when I was paying for premium and getting 19mpg on the WRX. I mind it much less paying 1/3d that on the Accord. I would like to go full electric; we bought extra solar panels, anticipating that we'd go electric soon, but right now the car companies are expecting me to pay extra for that, since the government is giving me a rebate. Seriously. I'd get a $7500 rebate if I bought an Ioniq 6... or I should. So what does the dealer do? $7500 "market adjustment." They are stealing government incentives that are rightfully mine. That's theft, right there. Fuck Hyundai.
  14. What I dug about Ebert, aside from the brilliance of most of his commentary, was that I could tell whether I'd like a movie or not based on his description of it, entirely separately from whether HE liked it or not. Also, he was into tits movies. "Mac is easier" was true in, like, the early 90s or something, I guess? I think the two are more or less the same now in terms of security and reliability. You can get much neater hardware with Windows and work with more things; Apple only works well if you buy EVERYTHING Apple, from your phone to your internet to your "iCloud" sub etc. My Mac experiment was about 20 years. Switched back to PC a few years back because I wanted a computer with a touchscreen -- an actual computer, not an iPad.
  15. I'm pretty much dead splat center in the nadir of the Gen X bust (end of '72 - beginning '73) and Breakfast Club was basically a documentary.
  16. After reading the article satya shared above, it sounds like the problem A&M has... is being A&M. Which I've said before, but here's a handful more data points.
  17. The nice thing about the hybrid to me is the range. Was lucky to get 300 miles out of the WRX. This thing... I'm not sure what kind of driving I'd have to do to get fewer than 400. But... I like the name I have. Can't I just go to the Texas One store and, like, buy a new one?
  18. ...but mostly I'd check out Honda/Acura/Toyota/Lexus hybrid SUVs as a starting point.
  19. I had the spreadsheet made out already because I was using it to estimate how much my annual repair/maintenance/fuel costs were on the WRX and compare that to a monthly payment on a new car. THEN, I ended up using it because I had expected the WRX to stick around a few more years, and was blindsided by this year's estimates. (tldr, a lot of things were due to be fixed, and were things like tires, brakes, steering, clutch that you really need working) So I set up a table of different cars, things I cared about, vs what they offered. Also, what I wanted and needed changed, so I found myself in a new space that way, unfamiliar with most of the options. The table gave me a way to list out ideas and then go see if, at least on paper, they fit what I wanted. Hyundai Tucson, for example, made the list, but I never even bothered to fill out its feature matrix; Polestar 2 got its matrix filled out, but I never bothered driving one (price was high and didn't like any of the colors it came in). Ioniq 5 likely would've gotten a test drive before I saw that the dealer was adding a "market adjustment" the exact same value as the government rebate -- if you steal the money the government intended for me, go fuck yourself. THEN I did test drives, because you don't buy anything you've never driven before. Which really came down to the I'm usually more like you in my habits, but that's because I also usually have my head in the space already and kinda know what is out there and what I might want... and because for most of my driving past, what I wanted was "as much speed and handling as possible on my budget." Then I just go drive em. and now i really can blather on and on and on and on about it. Haven't even started blathering about the actual car yet, and boy is there a lot to say... let's talk about all these nifty whiz bang driver assistance features for example... that would also disqualify Subaru
