  1. We got out for under $100 because my bride is a lightweight - one glass of Prosecco! I've long teased her about being a cheap date!
  2. Just had an amazing HH at Salt Traders in Round Rock. $1 gulf oysters, $5 off appetizers, cheap bar snacks, and good drink specials. That is a fun and hopping place.
  3. I've had some of these that act like they are offended and hurt that I haven't responded to their last 4-12 "personal" messages to me. Fuck that shit. Read the room.
  4. 220 -221, whatever it takes.
  5. 4-4 top of 7th.
  6. Stay in Fisherman's Wharf, still a pretty safe area. Alcatraz is a cool trip. Ride a cable car down to Chinatown for a meal, but go no further than Chinatown. Then get the hell out of there. Rent a car and drive down the coast to Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel-by-the Sea, Pebble Beach. All are much better places than SF.
  7. Kicking this thread back into action. Sweetwater Oyster Bar on Whitestone in Cedar Park has a M-F HH that kicks butt. $1 gulf oysters on the half shell, a bunch of $10 small plates, good drink specials. Fun place. https://sweetwateroysterbar.com/
  8. Nope. But they have a great track record with all of those places. I'm a long-time Ziziki's fan, but look forward to trying Nikki.

    Good to know! Thanks.
  10. Texas Chili Parlor Frito Pie is perfection -- not a bean in sight!
  11. I get the frito pie thing, but the beans do not belong on there!
  12. Same here. And we look down on folks that don't talk honestly about what they've seen each hunt. No private silos.
  13. That is simply gross. "Waco" is correct. Better to put it straight in the garbage than to have it be processed through your body.

Great happy hour vibe at Symphony Square, but I don't eat there since Texas Chili Parlor is so close by.
  15. Pretty much the only checks I actually write these days are the ones that I put directly in the collection plate on Sundays. Glad the situation worked out for you.
  16. We don't always see eye to eye politically, but big pos rep for you having a son that was the Bill Miller chicken guy! Hope that he is doing well. I spent a bunch of time in HS working at Catfish Parlour and I can still put on a righteous catfish fry with all of the trimmings.
  17. Perhaps the best thread on Surly. Thanks.
  18. Love Bill Miller fried chicken!
  19. Even the worst fried chicken I've had has been pretty good.
  20. They don't do fried chicken livers, though. Bush's on Williams Drive is where I go to have that guilty pleasure. With cream gravy, of course!
  21. The Austin Club downtown is starting a Sunday Brunch open to the unwashed masses every 2nd & 4th Sunday, beginning June 9th. 11 am to 1:30 pm. Only $22.95. Bloodys and champagne are extra, of course!
  22. I'm with a group of couples that have rented a large beachfront house in Playa Langosta in February. Anybody have any knowledge of that area? Have not seen it mentioned on this thread. Thanks.
  23. Happy Easter to all of y'all that celebrated it today!
  24. Pretty much a shell with a concrete floor, as I recall.
