  1. Wood or Anton or any other experts, How significant would the change be if Hamilton and Verstappen switched cars, i.e., Hamilton becomes Red Bull's Number 1? Or, would it be more significant if the Red Bull brain trust, pit crew, etc were forced to switch with Mercedes? Am curious as to which has the greatest impact, Hamilton's driving and strategy, the quality of the Silver Arrow, or the expertise and acumen of the German brain trust.
  2. I have been a bit hesitant to post anything else in this thread because it is solely about the Ehlinger family. But ... Reading the outpouring of love and support in this thread, and having to live the horror of having a child taken, the inspiration comes in the most unusual ways. Today, I was scheduled to give about a 30 minute presentation on mental health/eating disorders and the legal community. (My daughter died from eating disorders after fighting it for 7 years ... and before you say, what the fuck?... eating disorders have the second highest mortality rate of all mental illnesses [only behind opioid addiction] with one person dying every 52 minutes]). The presentation is going to be shown during an international conference in June. I admit that there was a certain ... "emotion" missing from it. And then, I began to think of Jake's mom, what she surely must be feeling, that is if she is feeling anything yet, and in the midst of my despair and flashbacks to my pain, for some reason, I found new strength and resolve. Good God, what that incredible mother is going through right now is inconceivable! It filled me with greater resolve ... and purpose. And maybe.. . just maybe, My words will touch others. Jake's mom will never know about this. But one day, I hope she feels it ... she feels in her heart, that she and her beloved son, made a difference. That she and her son saved lives in the most unexpected ways. No words for her ... other than, she is not alone. I now know of so many other moms and dads who had a child ripped from their loving arms. But, from the senseless... if we can find reason. If we can save even one life...
  3. When a parent has a beloved child taken from them, the grief, the immediate shock, the emotional pain that manifests itself in physical pain is incomprehensible. 5 years ago, my then 23 year daughter was taken. At least for me, it was not all that unexpected. I could prepare a bit. But, when the tragedy is sudden ... and unexpected, you experience something different. Now granted, a person's grief is as unique as our fingerprints. It manifests itself in different ways. For some, that grief destroys them. For others, it defines them in a negative way the rest of their lives. 20 years after the fact, they talk of the event as if it had happened the day before. And yet still for others, eventually it fills them with incredible purpose and resolve. For whatever the cause, Sam and Jake's mom had her heart and soul ripped apart. For any parent, our biggest fear is that our child will be taken before us. But to have to live that fear is a daily burden. I truly hope, and sincerely pray, that one day, Jake's mom will be able to embrace the loving reality that her son Jake gave others so much joy, not just because he played football and was a good kid, but by his passing, Jake is teaching us even more about the grace to love our children more fully and openly, to embrace each day with more passion and resolve and to not let fear be our masters but instead to inspire us to greater deeds. It is with a sad heart that I embrace Jake's mom into a club that no parent should ever have to belong. You are not alone.
  4. BRUTHA.... that improves it definitely. But then in nocturnal prurient activities, the glasses go flying off and you are left with a Poor Man's Olivia Munn wannabe.
  5. Manhattan, Kansas over Lawrence, Kansas? Yeah ... NO.
  6. Brutha, I could tell you stories about what incredible harm is being done by Militant Fat Activists not just in the mental health field but in society in general.
  7. Have them take over Haas. It would only cost them a wooden nickel and a night of passion with South Austin's mom. Fuckin' Haas. The aggy of F1.
  8. First, keep in mind that YOU are interviewing them. You are the employer. They will be working for you. (Yes, I know that seems strange since you are paying for their services) THEY need to earn your trust. And, if they don't answer all of the questions you have to your satisfaction, look elsewhere! Here are some websites that could help you with questions: https://medcircle.com/articles/questions-to-ask-a-new-therapist/ https://www.health.harvard.edu/depression/10-questions-to-ask-when-choosing-a-therapist https://www.huffpost.com/entry/questions-therapist-first-session_l_5d165604e4b082e55368cc5f When I started seeing a therapist (really a psychiatrist) last year, I grilled him. One question I asked which helped me was, "I have been practicing law for 37 years. If a run of the mill, small case comes in, I am going to turn it away. There is no challenge there, I will get bored and not do my best work. If you believe you will not be challenged by me, I need to know. You have been doing your work a long time and have probably heard everything. So, I need to know what about our relationship you believe will challenge you." As for finding a therapist, there a number of websites. You can start with this one though: https://www.findatherapist.com/search/ goodtherapy.org is also an ok place to start looking.
  9. Many in the mental health field are calling mental health issues the next pandemic which has already arrived. Waiting lists for many of the eating disorder residential treatment centers are months long. And we are discovering that a number of the mental health providers are so caught up in their own issues that the care they try to give can be dubious at best. And, it's not going to improve any time soon. Yes, some additional funding to the NIMH was provided in the Covid bills, but not nearly enough. And most of the national mental health organizations dropped the ball or did not have legislative ties such that funding for their organizations could have been attached as a rider to these bills. But, not to have all gloom and doom ... we are seeing some stories of incredible resiliency from unexpected places and persons.
  10. 43 posts and no reference to Lady Skeletor? What the hell?
  11. Then, your wife would go sleep with Ted Danson.
  12. Aren't there rules on this website about pics, etc? Flippin' damned mouthpieces think they are above the rules!!!!!
  13. So, I have a good friend who is the official photographer for the Dallas Opera. Madam Butterfly is playing. Because of her affiliation, she gets us into the "hoi polloi" area during intermission. Am standing there talking with her and a few other people when someone asks me what I thought of it so far. My response, "The sets are incredibly parochial. Far too basic. It looks like something a high school production would come up with." My friend's face turns white and she says, "uh.. Steven , this is Keith Cerny the General Director of the Opera." I look at him ... he looks at me, and I say, "eh, well, at least the voices are pretty good."
  14. If you love somebody enough ...
  15. Second the Botanist recommendation. Also, this ...
  16. The oneupmanship thread is ............>
  17. Ok, just opened yesterday. Tian Tian. It's at the corner of Preston and Frankford Road in Far North Dallas. The chef is from China where he was trained. Ovens made in China. This appears to not be, "Asian Food for Round Eyes." We had the Peking Duck, sliced to perfection, the "pancakes" are almost diaphanous they were so thin. The Xiao Long Bao with Black Truffle steamed dumplings were exceptional. And for something different, Black Fungus with Wasabi (texture very interesting and just enough heat). Since it was opening night, there were organizational issues. But, gents, this place could be legit.
  18. So Nebraska is now comparing itself to SMU and Rice. Got it. Truer words were never spoken. You can pretty much lock this down now.
  19. The Williams ... huh... That's actually pretty slick. It will look pretty good fighting with Hass for dominance of last place in every race this year.
  20. Well ... uh... ok... Nothing like draping yourself in the Russian National Flag I suppose.
  21. Of the 10 out of 11 punts "inside" the 20 .... ZERO between 20 and 15 yard lines; TWO between 15 and 10 yard lines; FOUR between 10 and 5 yard lines, and; FOUR BETWEEN 5 yard line and Goal line.
