  1. The enchiladas may call to you with an irresistible siren song, but this is in fact preventable.
  2. I’m scratching my head trying to think of explosions outside of volcanic activity that aren’t completely preventable.
  3. Not that Brat needs defending, but you are aware that local Fox affiliate news ≠ Fox News, right?
  4. Yeah… with the super-high visibility of this situation, my money’s on TK getting white glove service.
  5. So there are apparently two versions of the "Bete Noir" episode streaming on Netflix. In one version the name of the chicken restaurant changes from Barnie's to Bernie's and in the other version it changes from Bernie's to Barnie's. Even though the tech in the episode was silly, I still enjoyed the play on the whole "Mandela Effect" phenomenon, and with the dual versions of the episode, they play it even further. Pretty clever.
  6. Malcolm Gladwell did a great episode of "Revisionist History" about this a few years back. He gleefully looks forward to a day when pedestrians and cyclists take back the streets.
  7. Allbirds has added "rustic orange" to their line this spring: https://www.allbirds.com/pages/search?query=rustic%20orange
  8. I had an $80K claim paid for water damage in 2023 and just had another $3.4K claim paid for water damage a month ago. All smooth as glass and rates have stayed steady. Maybe it's a difference between homeowners and auto. I can't speak to current auto claims since I haven't had to file a claim for that in ~25 years.
  9. Not to derail the thread too far, but my experience with USAA continues to be 5-star all around. Been a customer for over 30 years and have never once had an issue with service or claims.
  10. Feel deeply for you. We are working through a similar situation with our Penny girl. She was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy almost five years ago. We have been lucky with a treatment regimen that has kept the seizures mostly under control. Recently the frequency of the breakthrough seizures has been increasing. We've gone from maybe once a month six months ago to nearly one a week. The intensity has been milder, but the increasing frequency has us thinking hard about her quality of life. For now, she seems happy and has way more good days than bad days. That's all we can do. Try to give them as many good day as we can. Hugs from Penny.
  11. Yeah that one was super dark. My wife put an early end to our planned binge on Saturday night. She needed more time to process after that one.
  12. She did a great job. Thoroughly enjoyed her character - the quirks, the self-soothing, etc. And yep... def got the Jordan vibe.
  13. This season is only two weeks in? Feels like months already.
  14. No argument there. No one has shown the political will to actually address the issue. But to be fair... we as an electorate have proven time and again that we will not keep anyone in office who actually tries to do something. We are very likely turbo-fucked and riding this plane all the way to the crash site.
  15. As a recovering big "C" conservative... I'll take a stab. We are poised to hit a couple of "not great" milestones in the next year or so. We will in the near future 1) cross the 100% debt/GDP threshold and 2)have an annual outlay greater than $1T for interest payments on the national debt. The $1T factoid is pretty much meaningless, except for the fact that we now have more than $1T that is not available to provide actual goods and services to our citizens. The 100% debt to GDP ratio is concerning because it could be a trigger point for credit rating agencies to downgrade the US Govt's credit rating and shift to more negative outlooks. The biggest concern is that interest as a share of the budget keeps growing. In 2024, 13% of the Federal budget went to service the debt. By 2035, that will be up to 16% ($1.783T). Again... that will be 16% of our budget not providing benefits to our citizens, because no one has the political will to keep spending in line with revenues. How far can we go and how big can the problem get before it becomes critical? We don't really know... but we REALLY don't want to find out.
  16. So instead of having a number tattooed on their forearm, they’ll get a bar code or a QR code.
  17. Flamin' Hot Preparation H got me. Especially the bright red paste.
  18. Noted... Jokes not allowed in here. Only real, gut-level hate.
  19. That gif will outlive us all.
