  1. Our guy says there's no rush. I think that's schools trying to FOMO you and your kid. Our guy wants us to have everything in line by the end of September and I think that's more so we can start putting in applications in early October. Most deadlines are November 1st. One thing you probably have to do before then is the FAFSA. Most schools won't start looking at applications till after the deadline. I'm sure if it's a private and you're doing Early Decision, those all go to the front of the line because there's definite acceptances for the school so it's less of a time waste. Our plan is to apply and do some revisits if she gets accepted to ones she really values and is on her upper tier. If somehow she gets into UT or the CAP is offered then our decision making timeframe is pushed up considerably. I don't think either happens honestly unless she ups her SAT by 100 points.
  2. I watch USA Network games on Telemundo or Exitos. Peacock covers the rest. NBC I have OTA for.
  3. Wasn't it shot during Covid and shelved? I want to wait until Master Pancake or Rifftrax does a send up of it.
  4. Of course but the people in charge of Congress all fetishize their firearms. They don't want it to change because they only care about being able to own a gun. It wouldn't be difficult to litter this thread with Christmas cards of Republican legislators that have family portraits where even the kids are holding AR15s. They wear AR15 pins on their suits. They love the guns. They value the guns more than citizens. They don't give a shit about this other than to use it as a tool to point the finger at people they don't like such as immigrants, minorities, gays, and trans people. To them, it's easier just to ban all those people. Also note to Zeus, which side do think pushes back on Red Flag laws? And anything passed isn't being held up by the gun friendly Supreme Court's right wing majority.
  5. Man, let it be us. We can extend our streak against them and get two easy OOC wins against a Big 10 team.
  6. Cool. You want to lead the charge to ban people who are on SSRIs from ever getting access to firearms of any kind? And your list is fucking stupid. Trazadone is a sleep aid. If you kill someone after taking Trazadone it means you killed them in under an hour of taking it because you're then getting really drowsy. My mom takes Trazadone. I guess I should make sure she doesn't have an AR15. But yes, let's blame medications. Anything we can do to avoid talking about banning guns. You have to protect the guns. We get it.
  7. Easy access to weapons of mass destruction?
  8. And what about Newtown. What about UValde. You don't care when it's a shooter that's not trans. You never have other than to virtue signal about thoughts and prayers.
  9. Remind us all the times you came in here and gave a shit when the school shooter wasn't trans? Or don't because we know why stuff like this gets you excited. You don't give two shits about the victims.
  10. Yeah, let's not worry about the easy access all people have to weapons that can destroy children. It's easier to ban "those people". It is very telling when the shooter is trans that this actually moves you bigoted assholes to give a shit.
  11. Oh bullshit. It's got some decent analysis with Leinart, Brady Quinn, and Meyer but it's also chalk full of buffoonery, stupid live music, and dipshits like Clay Travis and that awful Bear. It's going to be even more of a Big 10 suckoff fest now. Saban is miles better than anything else they have on that show.
  12. Why can't you quit this thread?
  13. Watch Trump spin this all on Walz and how "out of control" things are in Minnesota as a way to get troops in Minneapolis all the while not doing a single thing to limit the amount of guns that are abundantly available for people to use to kill children.
  14. Our guy really helps our daughter polish up everything. I don't think the people viewing the application ding you for making it sound more professional. I'm sure the essay is where it can be tricky if it's not in the writing style of a 17 year old. We'll see tonight when we meet him to go over her essay and next steps for her to work on. I'm just going to drop her off, let them work on it while I go hang out at Barnes & Noble, and then come back to see how it went and ask a few next steps questions. We're thinking of not traveling to San Diego next month so she's not missing school or her internship that starts after Labor Day. We know San Diego so it's more just seeing if applying make sense financially if they don't kick in anything. We'll see. I'd sure love to spend 4 years near La Jolla.
  15. There's an old Red Lobster off 635 and Northwest Highway here in Dallas that's a funeral home. We like to joke they'll get you some Cheddar Bay Biscuits while you wait for the service to begin. You can get a Captain's Platter while they're burning up your loved one to place in the urn.
  16. Bowen Yang was on Fresh Air last week. I thought all you Bowen Yang lovers would enjoy giving this a listen. https://www.npr.org/programs/fresh-air/g-s1-83298/fresh-air-for-aug-18-2025-snl-castmember-bowen-yang
  17. The stupid meaningless shit that people get "OUTRAGED" over now is a definite sign of enshittening. Played by stupid f'ing algorithms and outrage merchants.
  18. Good luck. LLs at WDW are something I don't miss having to worry about. When we went in September 2021, they weren't doing fastpasses for anyone but DAS people and it was great. Then it just lining up rides based on when they were busy or not. Everyone had a fair shot at rides and it wasn't something that required as much planning. That's why I like the DLR version of it where it's day of and you just have to jump in the right order. We had no issues getting in all the rides we wanted back at the beginning of the month. WDW, that's a whole different battle. One piece of advice, group rides by region as you're not going to want to double back. Also bring a portable charger as you're going to be staring at your phone most of the day.
  19. I moved into The Castellian, home to many people destined to crash out at Texas for a bit, by myself at the end of May 1994. I was 17 at the time. My parents offered to help me but I felt it was something I needed to do alone which they respected. Plus, my brother was already in Austin so I had some help if I needed it. I don't think my oldest would have any notion of trying to do anything on her on. My wife also moved herself down to Kinsolving in August 1994. I think she was ready to get away from her family which I do not blame her for.
  20. Maybe they were given a heads up on what years they would have more home games so they didn't want to lose a home game by having to go to Morgantown.
  21. Good for them and a good reminder to guys to shoot your shot like Travis did. But I guess she's not hot anymore.
  22. Bama cancels West Virginia home and home for 2026/2027. Replaces them with East Carolina. Before we crap on Bama, they still have Florida State in 2026 and travel to Ohio State in 2027.
  23. College football is back when Detty's brotha from anotha motha is on with the Musers. Joel Klatt on later today with the HL.
