  1. Set up our UT tour for Columbus Day so she doesn't miss another day of school. That's more to decide if 3 years at UT with one somewhere else is something she really wants to do if offered versus 4 full years somewhere else.
  2. I turned off all notifications about rep because who fucking cares. What a stupid, insecure thing to worry about. But as we've seen the self-identifying "alphas" on this site really get pissy when they get negative feedback which usually leads to whining on multiple boards and demonstrating the beta tendencies they constantly prescribe to libs. Or they have amusing meltdowns complete with taking their toys and going home. That's specific to a certain Highland Park douchebag who Penelope seems to make act like a massive toddler.
  3. Yeah, it's 5 miles from Newport Beach, 1.5 hours from San Diego, 1 hour from downtown LA. You have 2 airports close by. Disneyland is there for some fun. I joked she could work at Disney in the summers. UCI has some great work study requirements to complete your degree which would help you get a leg up on jobs since you would be working directly in the field you're studying in. It felt like a California version of UTSA but with being less of a commuter school and a much better campus and climate. It's not UCLA or UC-Berkeley but it would definitely be a good place to spend 4 years. I feel like she'll like UC-San Diego more when we tour next month. Also going to look at San Diego State.
  4. We dropped by UC-Irvine for a college tour this past Wednesday when we were in Anaheim for our Disneyland vacation. Took a Lyft out to Irvine from our hotel. It's a really interesting campus. There's a giant park in the middle and then a couple of rings that go outward from there. The first ring are the original set of campus buildings and they all look like something out of a retro future film from the early 60s. I believe films and TV shows have used the buildings there as backgrounds. The next ring is the more modern buildings. Directly across a pedestrian bridge was a shopping center with a Target, a movie theater, a Trader Joe's, an In-n-Out Burger, and other food options. It is barely a 10 minute drive to the Orange County airport. My daughter really liked the campus and wants to apply. We're touring some of the San Diego schools next month. We're about to meet her college coach so she can get on the essays and debrief him on all the visits we've taken and which schools she liked the best. I think we're going to go down to UT in September so she can get the full tour and we can discuss if the CAP was offered would being at Texas be enough of a motivation to do it.
  5. 1989 was pretty strong and is full of movies I constantly rewatch. Batman, Do The Right Thing, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Abyss, Back to the Future II, When Harry Met Sally, Dead Poets Society, Field of Dreams, Lethal Weapon 2, Christmas Vacation, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Parenthood, Twins, Sea of Love, Working Girl, Major League, The Little Mermaid, The War of the Roses, The 'Burbs, Naked Gun, Dangerous Liaisons, Mississippi Burning, Lean of Me, Road House, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Say Anything, All Dogs Go to Heaven, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Tango & Cash, Tequila Sunrise, The Land Before Time, I'm Gonna Git you Sucka, Dead Calm, Scrooged.
  6. I don't think any of those parents had a planet eating god demand they give their unborn child over to him.
  7. What does this even mean? If that's your fetish then I guess good luck trying it.
  8. How do you expect to be governor when you got no ass?
  9. I think your bot is malfunctioning with the above sentence. Maybe time for a troll software upgrade.
  10. Let's send all the Gravy Seals in first to fight the Cartel. That would be amusing.
  11. Hey say something about infants to make Stassney go cry to immamac again. That was fun.
  12. I think God didn't love her by making be from that area but to balance that out, her preacher counseled me to keep her as far away from there as possible when we were doing our pre-marriage counseling. I definitely went with his advice.
  13. This was in Wichita Falls so perhaps they wanted to increase my agony in the 5th level of Hell that it already is.
  14. THE BUMS LOST, MR. LEBOWSKI!
  15. The annoying ones my wife knew that made her want to attend this wedding did not drink any alcohol except the offering wine.
  16. I love Christianity but it's hard not to despise certain Christians especially those who are so far removed from what the New Testament preaches and who use the Gospel to justify their hatred of others. We did a full Mass wedding once. Never again. And then no alcohol at the reception.
  17. Trump's decision making reminds me of that one scene in Lean on Me when Ms. Levias says to to Joe "no one around here has any idea what you're doing" and Joe responds with:
  18. I think I'm starting to hate Stephen more than Jerry. At least with Jerry, shit is finite. We only have so many more years of dealing with his shit.
  19. No, f that shiny shit. The home ND uni is the best uni.
  20. People seem to like the new kit. I was hoping to catch it in the wild at a local soccer shop but they said Adidas has a 2 week exclusive window on the LFC store site before it's released to other stores. I think I'll get the red with Jota's name and number on it. Edit: went ahead and got one coming in a week since I get a 10% discount with the LFC membership.
  21. We just got back from 6 days in the Disneyland area and had a great time. That's most likely our last trip for a long time as the older one is heading to college in a year. She did say she may request a WDW trip for her graduation next May. 4.5 park days. 3.5 at DLR, 1 at CA. Got in everything we wanted to do. It was really hot about 11am each day so we would go till about 2 and then head back to swim or nap. But man that morning and evening weather is so nice. On the 2nd day, we each took a kid and rode rides with just that one in the morning, whatever they wanted to do and then switched midday. Since that meant one got less time with each parent since we take a break at 2, we did the same thing on our final morning. With Lightning Lanes and getting there when the parks open, you can get so much accomplished. The kids took our LLs on Tuesday as we just took it easy, they got to ride most of the better rides twice. California Adventure really is a one day park and I should've just bought single day tickets over the park hoppers that we did. Incredicoaster was being refurbished the entire time we were there so that cut out a big option that my kids love to ride over and over. The Guardians ride fastpasses go really quickly so we never went back over to ride it. I could've saved a decent amount not getting the park hoppers. Wife and I went over to Trader Sam's at the DLR Hotel for some drinks and lunch. We didn't want to walk all the way back to our hotel so we just took a Lyft from the DL Hotel to our hotel. I would definitely recommend going over the weekend as some of the passholders are blocked from going and it keeps the parks from being a lot less crowded since the locals aren't able to go. We took one day off and I went with my oldest to tour UC-Irvine as she is interested in going out of state for college. It's a beautiful campus and is 5 minutes from John Wayne Airport. That airport is so easy to travel through and I would opt for it over LAX any day. We were able to check out from our hotel, store our luggage with them, go to Disneyland from 8am to 1pm and then head back to the hotel to change and grab our stuff so we could head to the airport for a 4:30 flight home. The Courtyard Theme Park hotel is so choice and we opt for it every time because the room is a great size for what you pay. There are 2 queens and a bunk bed, 2 showers, a 2 sink vanity which is key for teen girls, a Starbucks in the lobby to fuel your morning, a bistro for breakfast and lunches, a decent pool with hot tub that overlooks the side of Disneyland where you can see the fireworks which we opted to do on our rest day. It's under 10 minutes to walk to the security area which is great when you're hot and tired from a long day of walking around. We saved a good amount by booking a package with Getawaytoday.com. We had a great time on our trip. It just took a decent amount of planning and flexibility to deal with the crowds and heat. I would still opt for Disneyland over WDW 9 out of 10 times.
  22. Well, it's not like the kid was a teenager. But seriously, no parent is sacrificing their child for the world and where the screenwriters messed up was not having Sue say she wouldn't sacrifice her child to save the world nor would she sacrifice anyone else's child to save the world.
  23. No parent is giving their child away. It’s a simple as that.
