  1. If we win over OSU, as expected, we'll have beaten 8 bowl-eligible teams. I figure that's been done a few times before, but it's still impressive...no matter what anyone thinks it should or shouldn't mean in terms of the CFP.
  2. Even after the loss to OU, a path to glory was right in front of us. Whether you want to say our deadly spiral began with Quinn's ill-fated scramble against UH or occurred later, we failed to pass the smell test against several pretty weak opponents. The talking heads kept saying, "Since Bama, I've been waiting for the Longhorns to play a complete game," and we waited over a month to do so. That's all on us, not on OU or the committee.
  3. Of course. They've not been good at all against the spread this year (4-7-1 vs. our 6-6), but they've still won every week. Were they not the 2X defending champs, I'm not sure this year's play would have earned them their current No. 1 ranking. But such a great track record going into 2023 reinforced the media and fans' perception that Georgia always will find a way to win, no matter what. Even in close games they aren't really seen as being in trouble. I mean, they had a game last night in a rival's stadium, but nobody seemed to be on "upset alert" even when the score was close. Few other teams (Bama among them) would get that same benefit of the doubt by the fans or media. Again, it's perception rooted as much in the past few years of history as in Georgia's performance so far this fall. I just don't know if such biases subconsciously enter into the committee's thinking, whether for or against a team.
  4. We haven't trailed much at all this year. Credit to our fast starts, as per usual with Sark scripting the attack. I think UGA tends to get a media mulligan for past achievements and will continue to until they finally lose.
  5. I won't count losing the lead at the end against OU, as that was a dogfight all day. But from the outside looking in, we were shaky late against Houston, then handled BYU easily, then had to hold off late threats by TCU and KSU in consecutive weeks after our stumble in Dallas. This all took place as other elites were winning, though not in all cases handily. Among 1-loss teams we've been worse ATS than have OSU, Alabama and Oregon. Washington and FSU have been roughly the same ATS as we have, but they've managed to avoid losing. I just think our much-publicized late-game fades prior to mauling Tech gave naysayers the ammo they felt they needed. I just hope the committee disagrees.
  6. I still fully believe that had we scrapped our way to a bunch of narrow B12 wins instead of front-running to big leads and then being on the verge of choke after choke, we'd be more favorably viewed by many people. Other Top 10 teams have had some games that perhaps looked "guttier" than ours because they scored late to pul out wins. Their performances weren't necessarily better than ours, but their wins seemed more clutch. I realize 2021 is ancient history, but I wouldn't be shocked if committee members who saw us fade week after week back then think Texas still just isn't good enough to put away mediocre teams. That wouldn't be relevant to this year's squad, of course, but in a close call, Sark and company might not get the benefit of the doubt.
  7. "The MINUTE he started to slide" makes it sound like all this happens in super-slow-mo and the defense can easily change its plans. Not quite so easy, especially on a crucial scramble.
  8. Why not just play zone there and have all eyes on the QB?
  9. There's a case to be made for A&M retaining him. Not the sexy hire, but a solid coach and recruiter who presumably could be had for a decent price. In short, he's pretty much their Rodney Terry.
  10. I get the Bama love, mainly because it's crazy to write off Saban. But UGA still has as much football talent as anyone. With their best receivers back and Beck throwing well, I expect them to beat the Tide. For that matter, as bad as Auburn is, you never know for sure what lunacy might occur in the old Iron Bowl. And UGA has better be awake against a really ordinary GA Tech team tonight. Hate is powerful stuff.
  11. Sure not saying you're wrong. But what if Michigan ekes out a last-second win against OSU? How would you rank the latter? Until we get to expanded playoffs, there will be a whole lot of voodoo in the process.
  12. I get recency bias when it comes to late losses. You just can't afford them. (Well, unless you're 2022 TCU.) But if today's B10 clash is an instant classic, won't the loser have about as good a resume as several other 1-loss teams?
  13. Glad to see the attitude that we're going to bury Yormark by 50 right here and now.
  14. I suspect we'll eventually find out that Ewers has rib issues to go with the gimpy shoulder. Hard to win big games with a QB who now can't keep the ball for positive yards on occasion.
  15. They're trying so hard to overrule. Way more scrutiny that the Zapruder film.
  16. Worthy fielding the punt of course says otherwise.
  17. After this season, I don't think any of the current B12 teams other than OU will annoy me much. I'd like to think Texas won't annoy them, either...but I know better.
  18. To witness it in person was one of those things you never forget.
  19. How could any fan base be delusional enough to think Shaka was somehow "mistreated" at Texas? He had the world on a platter and somehow managed to repeatedly spill it. I don't hate the guy but see him as the polar opposite of a clutch coach.
