  1. While I couldn’t find the WaPo article he’s referring to, I did find the Fox News version. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/media/congressional-interview-with-ex-ukraine-envoy-blows-hole-in-democrats-quid-pro-quo-claim-against-trump-gop-lawmaker.amp The massive hole: ””One text read that Trump, "made it crystal-clear there will be no quid pro quo whatsoever," the central Pennsylvania lawmaker recalled. "And that really told the story," he added.”” Politics for very very dumb people.
  2. Rush’s monologue predates all the text messages being released, and allows you to compare them with that tale, especially the one from Sondland when he says “remember potus doesn’t actually want the deliverable from ukraine so getting the date for wh meeting isn’t impt bc this is all just so that potus will hv a chance to yell accusations abt b jr to a press gaggle that china should investigate for the fake news media to unwittingly report on after someone alerts congress on this behavior we are doing rt now. hope u had the al pastor tacos they r great”. Which does align pretty well, admittedly.
  3. You choose to believe a guy that demonstrably lies 10 times a day. And the story you choose to believe is the one where he’s figured out how to expose Biden Jr in China by chess moves that start with having a whistleblower alert the world of impeachable crimes a continent away, and claim that behavior is not wrong. An act that if it became the norm quite literally puts the very idea of free and fair elections at risk. And the story you choose to believe is that he’s realized that the only way to expose this corruption is through making shouted unsupported allegations days after the whistleblower alerts the world instead of, for instance, showing he’s got the evidence and he’s got the witnesses. And you choose to believe the motivation for this is because he can’t get the media to report on it otherwise despite the fact the state controlled media is the most watched channel in the country, he is literally talking to the media in making the allegations, and with one phone call he can sit down with any other channel in the world. There’s a term for that. It’s called a personality cult.
  4. The document is 25 pages long. So yeah, a CVS receipt.
  5. If I was Trump's counsel at the Senate I'd argue the facts on the first half and the law on the second: quid pro quo hasn't been established, and the request to investigate alone isn't considered an impeachable offense under the Constitution.
  6. It was clearly a CYA moment that people in my industry do all the time when they need to create favorable evidence. I don't think you can do anything but explain that is what it is, and focus on everything else that show it was quid pro quo. 10 things implicitly and sort of explicitly mean QPQ. 1 thing explicitly says it wasn't. Who are you going to believe?
  7. only a few are openly fighting the impeachment it seems. cornyn among them. the rest seem to just be acting like they haven't noticed anything was going on so they don't have to commit. they are not leaders, but followers, and are waiting to see if a dam breaks. if so, they'll move. if not, they've always been in trump's corner.
  8. more foreign influence huh. diego maradona isn't american either.
  9. very cool. is this just insider stuff you know or did you read it somewhere?
  10. She doesn’t deserve a thread.
  11. bullshit from the liberal rag [checks notes] wall street journal.
  12. people that deal with this use the same analytical tools to understand it as any other part of the law. look at the history, look at the concurrent writings, look at "ejusdem generis", look at how it was applied with historically, read some charles black. arguments and votes aren't going to be gut.
  13. if you're going for treason, bribery, high crimes and misdemeanors, I think it does. #1 is a statutory crime #2 is redirecting official U.S. policy for your personal gain, very akin to bribery. They may both be impeachable, but the latter is definitely impeachable.
  14. can't have a quid pro quo if latin a dead language. - Shapiro DESTROYING you with FACTS and LOGIC
  15. Yes. Yes, yes. Go on. Yes. That's right. Continue.
  16. I sat through these. Consecutive years scoring 1 run. https://www.baseball-reference.com/postseason/1998_ALDS2.shtml https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_American_League_Division_Series
  17. caveat that Kevin Kruse comes off as a little too full of himself sometimes. howeva, this evergreen tweet that he keeps retweeting himself makes me laugh.
  18. CC not on the roster. Too bad his last appearance wasn't the bad ass "that was for you bitch" moment last year.
