  1. BV comes off like an asshole when he says pretty much anything.
  2. As funny as a crying picture would’ve been, I’m so proud of my dude for being such a happy little guy all the time. No coal in his stocking this year!
  3. @TBGFL your services are needed to break down the KKL connection
  4. Jimbo’s mistress
  5. I don’t even like anchovies but that looks awesome.
  6. Just to let you know, there were a few updates to the cookbook and this was one of them. I told him how I made it the week before and how simple it was and he said “that doesn’t sound like my soup…” anyway, this will yield better results. Don’t mind wonky formatting from my phone.
  7. Made some pulled pork for a potluck at the office today. Trying to grease the wheels a little right before end of year reviews, maybe?
  8. Chicken tortilla soup, mmhmm.
  9. He writes for the Houston chronicle and broke the Texas/OU to SEC story, so I’d say he probably does.
  10. What’s the story here?
  11. Whoops… got that fixed. But maybe it would explain why the bbq was so bad.
  12. I had Bodacious on Mobberly earlier this week driving through Longview to see my parents. Wouldn’t have chosen it but some Longview friends of ours suggested that’s where we meet. I knew their pitmaster left, but still thought maybe they’d learned a thing or two there… holy shit was I wrong. Even by bodacious standards, it was bad. They didn’t know how to slice a brisket point, so I just told him to chop it up and put it on a sandwich. Sausage was ok, but mostly mushy. It was just a flavorless meal for the most part. You can officially skip that stop if you’re in Longview.
  13. I smoked a 12 lb and my dad roasted a 22 lb. His might be the prettiest turkey I’ve ever seen, but my smoked turkey seemed to get the most compliments. I think that may have more to do with the folks eating it not usually getting smoked turkey, though.
  14. Yesterday while my in-laws had our son we decided to go ahead and get all the Christmas stuff out of the closet under the stairs. Grabbed a couple boxes and then I was face to face with the bassinet and the fold up changing table we kept in our room for a while (nursery/kids rooms are all upstairs)… I think I am ready but that shocked me into it a bit
  15. I like how a Nordic country has to specify that it’s mild… uh, no shit buddy!
  16. How is it that no team ever commits holds against us, even when it is blatantly obvious every game?
  17. 8 weeks in with #2, so far everything looks great. Will be joining the 2 under 2 club come June (assuming all goes well). Took us about 2 years for the first one, so we figured we’d start early thinking it might also take a while, but I must’ve knocked something loose and set her body on the right path. I can already tell I’m going to miss my baby being the baby
  18. No offense I hope, but you were the skeptic I had in mind when I wondered who would respond the way you did first. Regardless, Bubba Ray down the way aint firing rockets through my back window, or destroying our electric substations, etc. I get your sentiment, but that’s not really what I’m talking about. Anyway, i am more interested in finding common ground, and I know we both agree with the sentiment of Fuck Russia 🤘
  19. Seeing those images of the Ukrainian kid on the last page just really hammers home how lucky we are to be Americans. My son and pregnant wife will never see that terror at home. DGAF what anyone else may say about America, but we are fortunate.
  20. Crossposting from cold weather eats thread. We would always do a soup course with our meal and my dad’s butternut squash bisque recipe is simple but really damn good.
  21. @next2nausThere’s been a good bit of talk about these on the BGE thread. You may want to peruse that as well.
  22. I’m about to reprint a bunch of these as a gift for my parents to sell when they close the restaurant next month, and one request my dad had was that he needs to swap out that spinach soup recipe for his leak and spinach soup, which is somewhat the signature soup for their restaurant and a crowd favorite. Don’t knock it til you try it!
  23. Page 18, homie. Also, that recipe makes a bunch but if you’re looking for thanksgiving stuff, we’d pretty much always have it as a first course for our thanksgiving meal so it definitely fits the bill for what you’re looking for.
  24. Stillwater Inn in Jefferson. They’re retiring in a month so I’ve been breaking out the cookbook for a little nostalgia lately.
