  1. Pretty much. It's akin to Georgia's Jim Crow-relic rules forcing the main Senate race to OT, then costing the GOP both seats.
  2. I might have bought Jerry Kill's excuse of quitting for medical reasons had he stayed gone for a while after quitting. Instead, he goes right back onto the coaching trail, bouncing from one job to the next, and talking trash about the UMN admin and PJ the whole time. So much for 'ol Country Jer. Anyhow, yours truly will be at the New Brickhouse on Thursday night with a nice buzz and ready to watch my Gophers, who have a seasoned squad, a manageable schedule, and division title ambitions beat the shit out of the worst team in D1. As for the spread, PJ has a habit of not covering big numbers against tomato cans. I'd rather play the over.
  3. Well, it IS HIMARS o'clock, and OU and Russia still suck, so there's that.
  4. New Mexico State +38.5 at Minnesota. NMSU is ass, but PJ doesn't cover big numbers against tomato cans.
  5. Barring any complications, it will be on the ballot in Michigan. And it's going to win something like 67-33. That's the sort of result that ends in downballot slaughter for the GOP. I mean, in 2012 the Minnesota GOP put anti-gay-marriage and Voter ID amendments on the statewide ballot. Both lost ~51.5-48.5, and they lost control of both chambers of the Legislature and had to sweat out a photo finish in the 6th.
  6. The only thing that I think of when I see the latest Hunter Biden meme is "What bad news from the Republicans is this trying to hide?"
  7. The bigger point is that I'm VERY skeptical of potential leads in Florida and Ohio until more polling closer to the wire keeps showing it.

  9. I've been a fan of Gopher football long enough to know to keep playing and never assume anything is over until the clock shows 0:00.
  10. "I suffered, therefore you should too" is not, and never has been, a good answer.
  11. IIRC the chances of Dems keeping the House was about the same as Donald Trump getting elected President in 2016. For pure sporting purposes, contracts for D House and D House and Senate can be had for 24 to 26 cents. If my math is correct, and subtracting the vig, that translates to roughly a +255 moneyline. Unlikely, but longer shots have come in. Also, the optimistic side of me thinks that the effect of Dobbs have yet to fully manifest itself. Recall the wipeout in Kansas was completely unexpected.
  12. Ladies and gentlemen, the Republican nominee for governor of Minnesota!
  13. This is also why had the rookie MPD officer even so much as touched Chauvin, he would have faced a board of inquiry and been drummed out of the force by the end of the week.
  14. John Fetterman could powerbomb Oz through a table.
  15. Go read some of Jerry Falwell's speeches pre-Reagan.
  16. I've been to Mordor a bunch (My Gophers are 0-5 when I'm there), but it's been a while since my last trip, so YMMV. Second Sam's Pizza. Hamburg Inn No. 2 for breakfast. Tailgating is best done out on the Finkbine Golf Course, on Melrose Avenue west of the stadium. Also, do NOT be in a hurry to leave. The UI campus is notorious for being bad at crowd dispersal. This is where my friends and I learned that college football tailgating is an all day thing.
  17. Actually, Beethoven's 5th is old school war music. V for victory!
  18. That is also why many of us are treading carefully at polls showing small but stubborn leads given the frequency and rightward-direction of polling busts.
  19. This. The momentum is why we're even discussing Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, and North Carolina in this thread. Speaking of Florida, that same poll that shows Demings with a 48-44 lead on Marco also has 71 percent opposition to the Florida's complete ban on abortion. At what point does that start weighing on DeSantis? Dobbs and Kansas have wiped out any talk of a red wave. My optimistic side thinks that he's got nowhere to go but down, but then I realize that this is Florida we're talking about.
