  1. Iowa and Wisconsin combined for 849 yard of punting on Saturday. https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore/_/gameId/401520328 Somehow, Navy and Charlotte out did that with 905 yards of punting. https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore/_/gameId/401531405 I feel confident that the Ferentzs saw this and said, "Challenge accepted."
  2. Ol' Nessie had to make itself scarce to avoid the latest search. Probably why Sasquatch made an appearance: to give cover so Nessie could return home. https://www.npr.org/2023/08/21/1195016459/monster-hunters-largest-search-for-the-loch-ness-monster-in-50-years Also, those "Messin' With Sasquatch" commercials were kind of funny.
  3. You really missed the obvious by not going with the Babylon Bee for this one.
  4. Hundreds of vagina plaster casts spill onto road after crash
  5. So a little bit of research yields the following: According to Baseball Reference, Ricky Henderson is indeed the leader in leadoff home runs with 81 total. Altuve has 34 as of September 20th, 2023, which I guess means he has at least 35 now. That would tie him with Bobby Bonds. Then there are these tweets from Sarah Langs.
  6. Without doing any research whatsoever, I am guessing any record pertaining to leadoff home runs is held by Ricky Henderson. But I could be completely wrong about that.
  7. Amish men shunned following emergency alert test that outed them for having cell phones
  8. Did a search and did not find a thread for this. Jason Statham is a beekeeper. And more than that. But since this is a Statham movie, you probably already knew that.

    First 2 hours of MTV

If you browse this list you will see a fair number of repeats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_first_music_videos_aired_on_MTV
  10. Are you going to partake of 6 4 2 of these before you drive to Dallas on Saturday? And if so, are your passengers aware?
  11. If you aren't blasting Ray Stevens is it really a road trip?

Remote Control was always a good watch when I was home "sick" from school. Kari Wuhrer was not hard to look at.
  13. Didn't see this posted anywhere. Page 2 back in the day was a must read for me. Usually enjoyed Jim Caple's articles. Jim Caple, former ESPN, national MLB writer, dies at 61
  14. Reminds me of either Surly or aggy. Wyoming Ranchers Accused Of Bleaching Penis Shapes Onto Neighbor’s Cows
  15. So I guess there is a chance it is someone other than Coach K.
  16. If you play Calloway, Mizuno, TaylorMade, Wilson, or Bridgestone balls, you might have a little trouble in the near future getting new balls. Death toll in Taiwan factory fire lowered to nine, with one missing. Four victims were firefighters
  17. The internet tells me that the flagship station for the Spanish Longhorn Radio Network broadcasts is KZNX in Austin, 1530 AM. Also might be on 104.9-2 on the HD FM dial if I am reading it right.
  18. Aren't there a few pilots here on Surly? If so, did any of them work for British Airways? Married British Airways pilot Mike Beaton snorts coke off topless woman – then tries to fly packed holiday plane to UK
  19. Actual article on CBS Sports right now. Short version: some stats are slightly better than last year for Iowa, so things are improving. Big Ten takes, picks: Yes, Iowa's offense has actually improved, Michigan set to face first real test
  20. I have this sick desire to see Iowa go 10-2 this year while winning every game something like 17-10 just to see what happens with the coaching staff and administration. It is a given that Kirk Ferentz is going nowhere, but would Brian really be fired if they won 10 games but did not hit the 325 points mark? Like the car wreck that you just can't not watch, I can't not watch this little sub-plot to the season.
  21. The cases of Coors are supposed to go from Texas, not to Texas.
  22. Is there any chance that the guest picker is someone other than Coach K? I suppose they could keep it in house and bring out Jay Bilas to rag on the NCAA with every pick. Wild card, dark horse candidate: Steve Spurrier.
  23. Believe me, I felt dirty when I did it. And it is probably too late in life for me to get my shit together.
  24. One of those issues is eating canned skyline chili. (posted this in the ou/cin game thread but probably no one will ever look at that thread ever again)
  25. If you want to see something disgusting on several levels, watch two Sooner football players chug some canned skyline chili after the Cincy win.
