  1. Yes, we're capable of being pretty good or really terrible. With the break to get healthy and prepare for a coachless team with 55 scholarship players, I think we win. We rarely blow people out so I'm not predicting that, but I think it's far more likely we blow them out than we lose by any margin. True it's a no win situation, but a bunch of bowl games are like that now with transfers and opt-outs.
  2. I don't disagree in general, but I'm curious what specifically you're referring to. That he cheated and got caught? Everyone cheated, we were just particularly bad at it. Because we didn't win enough with those talents? The rest of the roster was still not great. Pat Jones is a radio host here and has told the story a few times that when we hosted recruits we showed them everything on campus, except the stadium. We were terrible, our facilities were terrible, and the administration barely gave a shit. The fact that we had that little run in the 80's was pretty surprising because we struck on Barry and Thurman and Gundy was a good QB. I think Gundy was recruited by OU but chose OSU, I always assumed because he either didn't get a formal scholarship offer or because he knew he could start right away at OSU.
  3. NIL was a different form back then? Barry's only other scholarship offer from what we now call the P5 was Iowa State. Even if you try to apply the NIL/Portal era, Barry's only big year was 1988 and went pro the next year. He played behind Thurman in '87 and had like 600 yards and probably wouldn't be big on the NIL/Portal radar of major programs. Not to mention we just retained Ollie Gordon, this year's Doak Walker winner, and he obviously could have made NIL bank somewhere else, so we at least have NIL capabilities to compete on retaining our own players. I think Thurman Thomas was recruited by UT and some other big programs, but they wanted to move him to defensive back, he went to OSU because they gave him a shot at RB. It seemed to work out for us. Fuck aggy.
  4. They built their stadium to suck up to Kroger and still couldn’t win the Kroger Belt.
  5. Mowins doesn't bother me. Her over reactions aren't any worse than 75% of the dudes who announce too, and she's not as bad as most in my opinion.
  6. Fuck Brock Purdy. I had my fantasy football playoff game all wrapped up, all he had to do was play okay. Fuck him. [yea /fantasy nerd/ whatever]
  7. Should they stop calling fouls? The personal fouls especially are correct. It looks to me like two very mediocre teams playing a sloppy game with too much emotion.
  8. Texas State is in fact committing personal fouls and starting fights. Must be the alcohol with fans railing on the refs. I like GJ Kinne because I remember him playing for Tulsa, but damn, how about a little discipline coach?
  9. That fucking Dwayne Wade clip at the end, had to be 2006 finals. Fucking hell. Nevertheless, some of those seems like there's a whistle at the end of the clip and might have been called. But the point stands, it's annoying seeing all the traveling and nonsense they get away with, it's even infected college last I gave a shit.
  10. That’s coaching. Assholes can’t teach basic audibles. Same shit different year.
  11. There has to be some analytic metric or something about the out route short of the sticks. Every damn game it seems to get called. And it seemingly has nothing to do with the distance. Drake Stoops went 4 yards when the sticks were five yards away. The Giants receiver just went half a yard out when they needed a full yard. It can't be that every offensive coordinator is stupid or that receivers are all bad at finding the sticks. I really don't understand how regular that play is that ends up short on 4th down.
  12. I guess we’re even on dumb roughing calls.
  13. Just noticed for the first time that FDR is the hot dog guy George is talking with when the Rosses catch him in the city after he lied about being n the Hamptons.
  14. True, but he should be on a podium asking congress to delist marijuana, and encouraging states to decriminalize. The tweet says "All Americans with simple procession are now pardoned." I guarantee you next week Tik Tok etc will be going crazy about how Grandpa Joe lied because their friend is still in jail. The tweet literally cuts off the next section that identifies its application to DC and federal law.
  15. At least give Colin Jost some credit. He made Michael Che say this during the SNL Weekend Update joke swap.
  16. Ugh, social media doing its thing to guarantee a backlash and help the orange menace. This applies only in D.C. and the extraordinarily rare situation of a federal charge of simple possession. The D.C. part is significant, the rest isn't. He can't pardon for state crimes. The youths are gonna figure that out and blame him for not pardoning them too without considering that he doesn't have the authority.
  17. Don't they play at SMU next year? That'll be fun, lol.
  18. Well yeah, it's not happening unless and until FSU is officially and finally out of the ACC either through litigation or settlement. I don't think they're at risk of winning the lawsuit and not being invited or being left worse off than before. They'll join the SEC, I have no doubt, and worst case scenario for them would be Big 12 where they'll at least make as much as fucking UCF and not less.
  19. Good points, but what the ever living fuck does religion and Christianity have to do with this topic? As far as I can tell, the people fucking the most in junior high and high school were doing it at church camp, Falls Creek Oklahoma. The points you make are logical, but tying it to morality, and religious morality in particular, is demonstrably problematic for many, many, many reasons. Primarily, if the only reason to refrain from this stuff is displeasing an invisible deity, then it's really easy to say "oops I guess I can make this one up with prayer and forgiveness." Remember that the religious purity types are against sex education or discussing sex at all. I have an 11 year old daughter and I know what's coming. I'm not going to tell her that sex is bad or immoral, I'm going to tell her (we've already started these conversations) that it comes with incredible emotional baggage, and of course stds, pregnancy, derailing your life, etc. She's already seeing the emotional part with her friends having boyfriends and whatnot at that age and she's just not into it. She's also seeing that boys can be really shitty to girls sometimes, we tie that into making good choices when you get older when it comes to boys. She's also told us that she thinks she might like girls, so that's gonna be a whole other pandoras box for me when it comes to how the religious types will treat her if that's who she ultimately becomes. The porn issue is pretty concerning for my son who isn't that age yet but it'll come for sure. But I know for sure I don't want him crying himself to sleep and torturing himself emotionally the way I did ever time I masterbated because I thought that god and all my dead ancestors were watching and that I was going to hell for having the desires and failing to suppress them. I still have a lot of thinking to do to figure out how to avoid the harmful parts of porn addiction, etc., but I'm sure as fuck not going to make it about guilt for having natural feelings and acting on them in your own fucking room. Again, religion is just so harmful in this context. It's not only unnecessary, it's actively harmful. Like someone said above, the former vice president of the fucking United States refused to be in a room with a woman alone because of his fucked up religious views on sexuality. It's super demeaning to women that he reduces them to sex objects that must be avoided. Fuck him, fuck the speaker, and fuck religion. I'm just done pretending to be nice about it when it's causing such active harm.

    South Park

So turns out my wife re-started the PP subscription last month, lol. Watched Panderverse and Cred. As I suspected, Panderverse was annoying and preachy. We fucking get it already. A few funny parts but just Bill Maher style grumpfest in my opinion. Cred was pretty good, Randy with his dick out made me laugh way too hard. Overall pretty good. I've been watching some old clips and I kind of wish they'd do more random comedy with the characters. Not everything has to be topical. I'm not sure the current stuff will have the staying power of the old stuff because it's just way too specific to points in time. Even on trans issues and whatnot Mr(s). Garrison was pretty funny. Him as trump wasn't nearly as funny.
  21. Only way they don't have a spot is if they pissed off ESPN and Fox in the process, and even then, the economics would overcome. They are a blueblood helmet school, they'll land in the BIG or SEC. Even the Big 12 is paying more than the ACC and we'd take them yesterday.
  22. As a lawyer, I think $570M to get out of a media contract is excessive and possibly an unenforceable liquidated damages clause. I think it's more than lashing out. It's also a predicate to a negotiated exit fee like all the other early exits. This one is tough because of how long they are locked in. With the massive increase in media contracts over the last few years, I have to believe that there was some fuckery going on to convince 15 University Presidents and boards of regents to agree to the terms. Nobody spoke up and noticed that others would get massive increases very soon? I can see some fudging of the numbers. However, it seems to me that ESPN etc. would be the ones to blame, not the conference, of which FSU had a vote in all of the decisions. I'm just riffing at this point as I'm not going to take the time to review the contracts or pleadings.
