  1. I haven't bought clubs in over a decade and feel like it's time for some new ones. I'm a shit golfer, so I need the game improvement stuff. My last set was TM Rocketballz. I'm not stuck on nor against any particular brand, but I do like TM and Ping FWIW. Not looking to spend an arm & a leg. Don't mind the thought of buying used, either. What's the new hotness these days?
  2. Ehh, she's alright.
  3. Pretty sure I just searched for "Pete Rose Icee cup". As to the condition, there's a black line inside the cup that aligns perfectly to the black circle outline of the baseball, which means it had another cup stacked inside it. There's no yellowing or cracking, so I imagine there was an unused sleeve of these things that got put away in a cabinet a long time ago. I hate to admit it but this was somewhat of an emotional thing for me. My friends and I have been talking about how easy it can be to get worked up once you get past 50. I wound up sending a message to the seller with the cliff notes version of this story and she said it made her day.
  4. In 1979, my family was living in California. We used to go to Kmart every so often and they had an icee stand in the store. My folks weren’t the type to get icees on the reg, so I knew better than to ask. But in ‘79, they were having a MLB promotion and you could get a cup with a ball player on it! I was 5, going on 6 and the only player I knew was Pete Rose. I must have seen the ad on TV about the cups and I begged my folks to let me get one. To my surprise, they agreed and the next time we went to Kmart, I hurried to the icee counter. I asked the lady if they had the Pete Rose cup and she said “Sorry, we sold out of that one”. I was crushed. I got an icee anyway, my dad assured me that the player on my cup was also great but I had never heard of this Tom Seaver asshole. I just wanted Pete, dammit! I was telling this story to someone the other day and I said fuck it, I’m gonna find that cup. And I did. I got a mint condition one on eBay for the paltry sum of $10. And now Charley Hustle is hanging out with me at work. Life is good.
  5. Not trying to kick a guy when he's down but have you heard him speak? Getting his point across verbally isn't a club he has in his bag. His main talents seem to be running and fucking. Maybe some sort of onlyfans speed-fucking channel is the answer for him?
  6. I'm a state employee with a pension but in 2015, our state got rid of pensions for new employees. Really sucks for recruiting IMO.
  7. There was a cop who lived on the street behind mine, was the resource officer at the high school. All the kids knew him and said he was a good guy. He told my kid that he was retiring and he and his wife had just bought a new house, he was excited. The I saw on the news a few weeks later that he and another guy got busted for fudging their OT numbers and "stealing time", as they call it. Both got arrested and fired and lost their pensions. He moved not long after that and I've always wondered how that conversation went with his wife. /CSB
  8. Had one today. Patties weren't that smashed and it was the greasiest burger I've ever had but the flavor was good.
  9. I respect your position. However, I live in Oklahoma, so IDGAF about LSU. Give me sooner tears, plz.
  10. I hope USC wins because Riley having success makes sooner fans shit blood. Fuck ou.
  11. They just bought mine as well. I had no idea, just got a random letter in the mail. I called to ask questions and they said "Your account doesn't officially transfer over until 9-1, so call back then." WTF, my payment is due that day. They said don't worry about it. Fucking hell.
  12. Abrasion on the Achilles, would not bang.
  13. Man, this is the TRUTH. When I got divorced, I thought that was it for me, that no one would ever find me desirable or want to share a life with me. WRONG. 18 months after my divorce, I married the love of my life. 15 years of wedded bliss so far. I never knew life could be this good. Sure, my life has had its issues (family health, moody teenagers) but for the most part, I can't believe my luck. I never could've lived this life I'm having now if I had stayed in my first marriage. That's not to say that everyone should cut and run when things get bad, just that you need to know that divorce doesn't mean your life will end. The sun will rise.
  14. My friend just got his new Tesla Model 3. We've both been talking about them for years, he finally decided to pull the trigger. I was excited to check it out and see if I liked it enough to get one. What a bust. The footrest is huge and is way too close to the brake pedal, I have no room for my fucking feet. My legs are too long, I can't fully extend them at all. Fuck that shit.
  15. First thing that came to my mind was Ron Guidry and that maybe this was a long-simmering baseball feud. His and Greg's careers overlapped by a couple of years, so you never know!!
  16. I know where each of my kids live and how to get there, but I couldn't tell you either address.
  17. I know two people who have had recent college grads come to job interviews with their parents in tow. One mother couldn't understand why she wasn't allowed in the interview with her adult child.
  18. Could this story be anymore sadder?
  19. I think there's a big difference between "I have retired to BFE, 1500 miles away and I expect you to bring my grandkids to me, monthly" and "I have lived in my current location for 40 years, raised my kids there and my now-adult kids want to GTFO".
  20. I see this more and more frequently but I just can't get behind this mindset. I understand that the gist is that she wants to be nearby when the grandkids eventually arrive. But how long is she gonna wait? My coworker has a son that just graduated from the USAFA and she was talking about following him to his next duty station. Her husband put the brakes on that. I have 2 grandkids, they're great. But if my children said they were moving away for a job opportunity, I'm not gonna uproot my life and chase you around. I'll be happy to come visit a few times a year.
  21. I hate when they name a new subdivision after a fictional place. Like, you can call this neighborhood "Rivendell", but it doesn't look anything like it does in the movies.
  22. I did laundry Saturday. My wife had 3 or 4 pairs of jeans in there that got washed. She put her clothes away that night. This morning, her jeans are "missing" and she has no idea where they are. I asked if maybe they are hidden under the 4-5 piles of clothes she has laying around the bedroom, she says no. I said maybe if you put this stuff away, you could find your things. Tone. She "loses" an article of clothing pretty regularly, so this is a touchy subject for her. After she left for work, I called my buddy and asked him if he ever lost a pair of pants, or maybe a shirt. He said no, that's stupid. I laughed.
  23. As a state employee (not Texas), my biggest gripe is the lack of urgency to modernize anything. Public transport is non-existant, the post office sucks. Most of the day to day services NEED to be online only. Make well laid out, simple to navigate websites and speed up the processes. But they don't change anything until they either get sued for not following statutes, or a friend of a legislator gets pissed off and runs to his buddy to bitch.
  24. My ex was/is depressed and bipolar, and I blocked her stupid ass 4 years ago #winning. Honestly, if this is a good friend, you should be able to just say "Nah, that's all bullshit" and move on. If you don't know them that well, or aren't close enough to be really honest with them, either say nothing or just reply with one word answers, like "Interesting". That's what my wife does when I text her shit that she doesn't care about at all.
  25. My ex would just blurt out declarations: "I sure am thirsty...". I would tell her to go get a drink. Finally I said "If you were to just ask nicely, I'd be happy to get you a drink. Why can't you do that???". As long as I'm not in the middle of something like a chore or an important phone call, I don't mind getting up and getting my wife a drink or a snack. Use your fucking words!
