  1. Steve Miller Band at the Greek Theater (Berkeley) in September Springsteen in December (San Francisco) My first time for both
  2. I’m hoping to get tickets for the SF show in December
  3. One of the bros was in Narcos
  4. Better to put the glass shards outside of the room in which you’re sleeping
  5. Don’t they realize the street value of that balloon?
  6. Yes, they missed the foul. Has any other great player thrown a tantrum like that?
  7. Confirmed one of the founding members of the band grew up next door to my friend’s family and is a year older than his twin girls. Unless you like the Kansas City Chiefs, avoid The Tavern when they are playing. Other than that, it was great being back to a bar I went to so often between 96 and 03 that I’d get invited to the employee Christmas party.
  8. I was at The Tavern with some friends this afternoon and one of the guys started talking about the band his neighbor’s daughter was in (pretty sure he said neighbor…we had put away more than a few at that point). When he said the name of the band was Die Spitz, I thought it sounded familiar. Do you know a dude named Jason C?

  10. There are numerous videos on YouTube stating that the vaccines are to blame for the increased frequency of deaths in people 18-50. Some even have ominous music.
  11. They gonna do what they say can't be done
  12. Reminds me of this Greg Giraldo bit: "I read this book recently and it was filled with letters that soldiers during the Civil War wrote to their girlfriends back home. Every letter in this book was amazing. They were like, 'My Dearest Hannah, This morn finds me wrecked by the fiery pangs of your absence. I'll bear your cherished memory with me as I battle the forces of tyranny and oppression.' Now think about what the typical letter from your average Gulf War solider to his girlfriend back home in Brooklyn must have read like, 'Dear Marie, It is hot as fuck out here. It is hard to fight these sand monkeys with your balls stuck to your legs. It is very very hot and I am very very sweetie. It is very very hot because I am in the dessert. What else did I want to axe you? Oh yeah, don't fuck nobody til I get back.'"
  13. Interesting (maybe) family story related to the Japanese occupation of China and the birth of my wife’s mother: My wife needed her mother’s birth city for a visa application. Here’s the gist of their conversation: Wife: Where you born? Mom: In China Wife: I know that. Where in China? Mom: Oh. A horse farm. Wife: Where was the horse farm? Mom: I don’t know. Wife: Ok. I’ll just go with Horse Farm, China. Side story: Around the time my MIL was being born, her older sister (maybe 8 or so at the time), went missing. Some of the older family members ran among the other families fleeing the Japanese to look for her. Luckily, they found her not too far down the road.
  14. Copied from another thread based on a suggestion: I’m in a playoff pool where the participants pick a lineup at each stage with the caveat being you can only select a player one time. This is only my second year playing in a pool like this, so I’m interested in hearing/discussing any strategy. There are multiple layers of complexity when selecting a lineup (e.g., likelihood of generating fantasy points vs. not advancing, probability of scoring more points in the earlier rounds vs. the conference championship or Super Bowl, saving a player who ends up not advancing). Has anyone done one of these playoff pools?

  16. This makes me feel better about giving up 2nd.
