  1. One other note about the Fitbit -- I like how it automatically picks up an activity and starts logging it even if you don't start the app. Often this happens when I'm walking my dog and I just forget to start it. But I recently noticed that it'll start logging activity during sex with my wife, and for whatever reason the exercise it selects is "spinning," which makes me chuckle.
  2. I've been using a Fitbit a little less than a year and I like it. I regularly check my steps, sleep data, and exercise logs. I don't adhere to any sort of daily goal or metric outside of the 10,000 steps, but it's nice to monitor my overall fitness routine on a daily basis as an additional motivator. I don't use it for the calorie counter, because weight management right now is not a concern for me. I can't figure out the cardio load. I thought nothing of it, but all of a sudden after three straight days in the gym (which is not uncommon for me), it alerts me to take a recovery day for the next two days, like I'm no the verge of a cardiac event. I'm not even sure what the metric is, and am too lazy to find out. I've read some reviews comparing the Apple Watch to the Fitbit. Seems like you want the Apple Watch for music and other aspects of basically having your iPhone on your wrist, but as a fitness tool I'm not sure it's clearly better. And you have to charge an Apple Watch almost daily, where I can go about 5 days between Fitbit charges.
  3. First, congrats! I went through this last year with my first kid, and regardless of the ultimate destination, it's fun seeing all the options rolling out for your children. Second, one of my best friend's daughter is a sophomore at CU. She absolutely loves it. But she got a pittance of merit aid. And, she's in an apartment this year, and I forgot the monthly nut, but it's incredible, even split three ways with roommates, but I guess not surprising given what I've read of the housing costs in Boulder. So factor that into the budget if your kids go there.
  4. You just burned 35 calories posting that. Keep up the good work!!!
  5. We’re going to meltdown after the Spring Game.
  6. So ice cream topped with chopped brisket is not considered kosher?
  7. My ex and I used to take our kids camping at Garner State Park every Spring when they were little. We’d go to Neal’s at Concon our first night after setting up camp and I’d get the pepper steak every time. It’s awesome.
  8. What exactly are you Sayin?
  9. In Tyrone Swoopes' defense, he wasn't a bad passer, he just had trouble making completions to his catchers.
  10. I'm sure it was also forgettable for her.
  11. It's a good thing that day he was mostly dead . . . but slightly alive.
  12. I heard that Drew Brees flunked U.S. History his junior year.
  13. So after your wife gave birth you decided to be just friends?
  14. Don’t have anything intelligent to offer on the estate distribution, but sorry about your mom’s passing.
  15. I don’t care what those fuckers say about the bread, that is one fantastic looking sammich.
  16. Maybe. Didn’t seem like it needed an umami layer. Maybe some coconut milk? It’s a pound of shrimp, and I guesstimated about 1.5 tsp. Felt like it needed a bit more. My sodium-sensitive wife disagreed and thought it was plenty.
  17. Made this tonight. Tasty and pretty easy. Like Blotto, I thought it was a bit flat and needed more salt than just “to taste,” and next time I’ll add a few dashes of hot sauce.
  18. So I've always wondered -- do you think she really needed those braces, or they were cosmetically installed for dramatic character effect?
  19. Somebody on KUT gave a cautionary remark that if the melting snow/ice doesn't all dry up today it could re-freeze overnight and cause delays on Wednesday. fwiw, I'm looking at the downtown streets from my office right now and it looks like they're drying up pretty quickly.
  20. My blood pressure has slowly been creeping up over the past 10 years or so (turned 50 this past December). I'm right at what is now the "elevated" number of 120/80. My doc hasn't prescribed any blood pressure mediation, and I've been holding steady with a combination of exercise, decreased sodium intake, and some supplements (l-citrulline and beet chews - who knows how effective they really are, but whatever). One of my best friends has been taking blood pressure medication since his 30s. He has hereditary high blood pressure, and he's been taking the same blood pressure medication that doctors have been prescribing since the 1950s or so. It's kept everything in check.
