  1. It could have been worse.
  2. If he can win 8 games without those two, and if Norvell can't get his shit together at Florida State, I can see FSU making a run at Deion.
  3. Thanks. We gave him a lot of rice the vet put him on a 5-day supply of bland canned food. We may mix some in.
  4. Sorry to hear the news. I can count on one hand the number of times I saw my dad cry as a child. One of them was when we put down our dog when I was in the 8th grade. My mom and I took him to the vet in the morning while my dad was at work. When he got home later that day, this hulking 6'4" Marine colonel dressed in his utilities came into my room, closed the door, grabbed me for a hug, and sobbed for about 30 seconds before composing himself and going to hang out with a fellow Marine who came home with him for after work beer. I have a lot of childhood moments that are the victim of an aging memory, but I still remember that one vividly. Thanks, man. I've read pumpkin is good. I'll pick some up.
  5. Our 11-month-old hound/husky mix (he might actually be a shepherd/husky mix) is getting over some rather explosive diarrhea, which started toward the end of his second week at our home. His stool samples came back negative, so it's not a parasite. We think it might just be some nerves adjusting to a new home, since he's had a rough go in his early life going from street capture to foster care to us, and the vet said that might be the case. He's finishing up some medication and a bland diet, which is helping a lot, but his crap is still on the softer side, though no longer a puddle of brown liquid. We had given him some rotisserie chicken and some of the skin from that as a treat, but cut that out in case the fat was upsetting his stomach. We're worried about what might be on the other side when he's done with the medication and he's back on kibble. Any thoughts from the Surly dog family?
  6. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that steaming TV these days can show content (violence, foul language, nudity, dark and edgy content) that network TV of our childhood could never touch. But as you also note, production quality is better today (as it is for film). And there are more "movie stars" who make the crossover to TV series., where as decades ago TV work might have been perceived as beneath film stars.
  7. Doesn't sound like something Sark would do, "reward" character with playing time to a guy who got passed up on the depth chart.
  8. Really sucks. For the first few games I thought Bond might have been an upgrade from Mitchell. Any chance he'll come back for his senior year?
  9. No need to talk shit about him.
  10. Would still bang.
  11. It's magical, and you have no soul. Shit, I was never into bee-bee guns and I loved the movie as a kid. Jean Shepherd's narration is wonderful.
  12. To my eyes it looked like he lost some quickness. Then again, he came back to a Charlie Strong coached team that had a shitty offense with shitty QB play. Not sure Reggie Bush would have looked good on that team
  13. If you do, let me know what you find out. My daughter is a freshman at Oregon, and has a healthy merit scholarship that's taken a very nice dent out of the nonresident tuition. If the lack of a FAFSA jeopardizes that, then I'll suck it up and do it.
  14. Yeah, that was a weird take. He's a true freshman who's never taken a snap, and coming off an Achilles injury. Not sure why Funk Dr. gave him the label as our "primary back." And we'll see how Clark recovers. Jonathan Gray was never the same after his Achilles injury, though many think he didn't have a lot of mileage left after getting overworked in high school.
  15. The Surly tailgate is always solid. Check out the specific tailgate thread for details.
  16. What is the consequence of not completing the FAFSA after my kid is already in college? Can the university withhold merit aid?
  17. We play New Orleans on Thursday evening.
  18. That list seems rather long. Haven't really followed OU this season. Are any of those transfers other than Nic Anderson worth a shit?
  19. I'll add that I watched two series over the past year that surprised me as much better than I expected: Jack Ryan and Reacher.
  20. Season 4 hasn't come out yet. The expected release is in June 2025. Leon was such an incredible character. Really the glue for that whole cast.
  21. It's all relative. I don't think anyone here is over-hyping Colorado's season But if you consider that program since Vince Young & Co. beat the ever-living shit out of the Buffaloes in the 2005 Big XII title game, it's been absolute garbage. Until Deion went 9-3 this year, Colorado had exactly two winning seasons after 2005 -- 10-4 with Mike MacIntyre and 4-2 with Karl Dorrell in a shortened 2020 season. Colorado football has sucked ass for the last two decades, and for them to go 9-3 this year two seasons removed from a 1-11 record is remarkable, even in a mediocre conference, and Deion deserves a good share of the praise.
  22. I resisted West Wing for a long time. When it aired on NBC, it seemed to me like it might be too preachy with too much of a liberal bent. My wife convinced me to binge it with her a few years ago when we were dating, and it didn't take long to get me hooked. Fantastic story lines, characters, acting, dialogue, and pace. One of my favorite TV series of all time. And yeah, it slants more to the left. I mean, it's a Democratic administration, so you have to expect that going in. But I didn't think it was too liberal dominant. However, I'd be curious to hear what a politically conservative viewer might think.
