  1. Did 70's Pintos and Mavericks come in any other color than puke green? Wait, I think I remember seeing some Mavericks in white.
  2. Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) - Clip 1: Missile Launched! (HD) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzND6KmoT-c
  3. '79 rates highly for me because (a) Concorde and (b) it's so awful it's a lot of fun
  4. I believe I can fly! It's amazing that he wasn't killed or badly injured. In the NHRA, Randy Alexander wasn't as lucky last weekend. Car went sideways, crossed centerline and got completely shattered by the car in the other lane.http://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/20663/nhra-racer-randy-alexander-dies-after-crashing-at-over-160-mph
  5. After I was "updated" a few weeks, ago, sometimes it takes 3-4 seconds or more to open or close the program guide, or my list of recordings, or other settings or informational screens. (Using the HR54 DVR.) Who in their right mind would approve this as being an "ready to ship" interface? This kind of shit is too blatant to be an accident, it must be some kind of psychological warfare program. Not to mention how long it took AT&T to actually give me the promotional discounts that were promised when I signed up. I can't help but suspect that they are routinely misbilling and using their agonizing customer service to wear down customers who don't have the patience to fight it. All that being said, I'm still glad I changed from Time Warner because jesus wept I can't even...
  6. Watched a German movie from 2015 titled "Look Who's Back" on Netflix. A darkly comedic (mostly) take on "what if Hitler came back today." Some revealing, allegedly-unscripted scenes with this iteration of "Hitler" interacting with various Germans. Highly recommended.
  7. Sometime around 1993 I was walking to Players and found a gold chain bracelet on the sidewalk near that run-down parking lot on Whitis just south of Dobie. Got $78 from a pawn shop for it. Gold was not worth much at the time ($300-350 ounce I think).
  8. Does anybody make a durable, moderate-cost, traditional mattress now? (By that, I mean the two-sided, flippable kind.) Everything seems to be pillow top or memory foam or whatever; I just want something like the 15-year-old, Made in USA, Sealy I'm using now, which cost under $500 at the time and has held up well (until now, the fabric cover is wearing thru). But the major name brands seem to have abandoned that type.
  9. LOL at the traffic density (rather, the lack of it) on that TXDOT video.
  10. Does it have a killer mural airbrushed on the side, like this?
  11. Condolences on your loss, phd--losing a parent is always a real kick in the privates.
  12. One of the few spots on the Drag which has lasted since I was a student. When I was looking for a place to live my freshman year, I know I looked at it, but I only have a vague recollection of it being dank and dark.
  13. Some storms developing out west (Fredericksburg-Medina-Kerrvile-Uvalde area), moving towards central TX. Odds that they hold together for Austin?
  14. In the early '80s my family stopped at a DQ for breakfast (do they have breakfast?) or maybe early lunch in Amarillo (I think) on our way to Colorado. I recall the ladies working there were still wearing nightgowns and bathrobes and had their hair up in rollers. It was bizarre.
  15. Jennifer Lien, from Star Trek: Voyager. In all fairness, I look a lot worse now than I did 20 years ago too.
  16. About 20 years ago I had a buddy living at The Villas of La Costa, which is somewhere east of 35 near St. Johns. Seemed OK, decent pool and tennis courts. The neighborhood was very patriotic because I could hear the pop-pop-pop of fireworks nearby almost every night I was over there. Also it was close to Pappasito's and Pappadeaux's.
  17. Does the Co-Op still have that upper level that used to have non-academic books, magazines, and like a camera shop? It's been quite a while since I was in the place.
  18. SWA is just doing a trial run for new Boarding Group "D", which doesn't guarantee you a seat, but does let you ride on the outside of the plane for as long as you can hang on.
  19. With all the money the city and state put up for COTA/F1, they ought to let the general public drive laps for $10 an hour. Maybe if the organization goes belly up we can have some unsanctioned night races out there. Edit: actually, if a group can get a day of track time for $600 as mentioned above, that sounds pretty reasonable. Or is that $600 per person...
  20. Ka-chunk chunk The fuck did those things actually do anyway? I mean I know they printed/copied your credit card info, but how did the retailer actually get paid without an electronic terminal?
  21. I have an old-ish (2002 model) Toro mower that's done well, but I don't know if the current models are good. A lot can change even when the brand name stays the same.
  22. If he wanted to go in a creative direction you can't beat being a game tester or designer. Westwood College has your back:
  23. Was driving on 183 yesterday between Cuero-Gonzales-Luling and this kept happening. People cruising steady at 65 in the one-lane or no-passing sections and speed up to 80 in the passing zones. What the fuck is wrong with them. Pick a goddamn steady speed and stick with it.
  24. Coming soon as a Netflix-produced movie.
  25. This situation sounds pretty bizarre to me. But (not a lawyer) my understanding is that you can't really stop people from taking pics of your property as long as they are on a public right of way (street or possibly sidewalk, etc.) I mean you can request that they stop, but they are under no obligation. Now if they are coming in your yard or driveway, then fuck 'em.
