  1. Not excusing him but I have to wonder if Ced wanted nothing to do with straining his forearms in the challenge, being a surgeon. I’ve meet a couple of surgeons, not saying all, that offer weak handshakes.
  2. Is Fertitta taking loans from the Teamsters' pension fund? Or borrowing off of the Rockets' value?
  3. Some CEOs are quick to publicly complain about previous administrations when it allowed them to blame bad results on the policies implemented by the WH or Congress. "It's not our fault that sales dropped 20%, it's the fault of Biden and inflation." Now they know that if they complain about Trump and it attracts his attention, he will at least tweet about that CEO's incompetence and irrelevance, or at worst punish that company if they have federal contracts. This is what happens when you have a President who has his thumb on the scales and does not believe in the rule of law. This is structurally worse to the US business environment than tariffs but it doesn't attract attention.
  4. Laughable that Trump's team is advocating that it's now Main Street's time to grow after Wall Street has grown over the last 4 decades. The GOP and MAGA have fought every measure to help blue collar and low wage worker. Any measure to protect (safety, security or compensation) them has always been shot down as unfair govt intervention with the invisible hand of capitalism. Hell, Johnny Sack argued here for de facto slavery as long as someone is dumb enough to work for low wages.
  5. The Game of Thrones has a lot in common with England and Scotland. Redheads in Scotland kept out of England via Hadrian's Wall. Before it was Scotland and England. Hadrian's wall just might have 10 ft not 500 ft tall.
  6. There’s also been noise from the Trump camp that those who negotiate first will get the best deals, and those who wait, won’t. Classic used car sales tactic to create fomo. It’s easy to see how Russia and China run circles around the Trump WH with “deals.”
  7. If I were the rest of the world, save tariff free Russia, I would work to convince my corporations to continue to manufacture goods for the US and keep paying employees. Sell what you can to America and warehouse the rest. Perhaps their govt could offer short term loans or punish those who don’t. who will blink first, countries like China who have previously starved their citizens or Americans who reject self sacrifice. Many maga voters would revolt if the Masked Singer is delayed 5 minutes due to an emergency weather broadcast, much less if store shelves are empty/double the normal price.
  8. Is it accurate that Tesla won’t accept a cybertruck as a trade-in due to their existing sky high inventory of them? im unsure if Elon allows a PR dept for a reporter to call, but this could be relatively easy to confirm by sending a cybertruck owner into a dealer to test out the rumor. then again Elon might have someone work overtime to punish a tesla owner who helped the media.
  9. Is there much (any?) proof that countries are actually calling Trump to negotiate? I know he and his staff are saying so, but I’ve noticed that they don’t mention country names which is what you would expect of Trump. Of course if he says Australia is calling me, they would be an immediate denial from Australia if it’s not true. I think I’ve heard Vietnam and Israel as the only countries as being mentioned in proactively agreeing to lower their tariffs on the US. Does Vietnam really buy much from us?
  10. Not a coincidence that China is making this statement after the close of their markets but before ours open. Trumps biggest weakness here is short term pain. When white collar Trump supporters see their 401k drop by 25-30%, they will not be fans. just as Trump says that short term pain is needed for long term prosperity, Dems could think of the same but the long term is getting rid of maga.
  11. And don’t I feel stupid thinking that dire wolves were a made up animal name by George R.R. Martin. Next you will tell me that we all descended from White Walkers. (No racism intended.)
  12. I wouldn’t ask for only 2 hours compensation as someone else wrote. See how important your signature is for them. Remember that any lawyer on this transaction will definitely be taking home more than you will. and you’re the key individual here. If you ask for the equivalent of your previous weekly salary, the worst they can say is no. I would ignore the request and see how long they take to get in touch with you and how they reach out. If their lawyer or rep calls you within a week or two, it could indicate their need of you. Maybe even a week’s salary is short changing you. Then again maybe 2 hours is just comp, just don’t start by lowballing yourself. your compensation shouldn’t be how much time you put into it, it’s how much value it generates for them. CEOs aren’t paid for 60 hours of work per week.
  13. Trump is a unique bully who isn’t a coward of potential consequences. He basically walks into a room and punches someone, while having enough people at his back that everyone else in the room cowers and is happy they’re not the guy who was knocked out. CEOs are afraid to publicly speak out against the tariffs because he will punish their company. Or just the potential of Trump’s vengeance would punish that company’s stock price even that much more. The exception seem to be some financial CEO perhaps since their company’s value in at least attempting to communicate real world situations.
  14. Dotel was the Astros starting pitcher for the first game at Enron Field (now Daikin), therefore opened up the ballpark with the first pitch.
  15. Is there more gold plated items every time Trump has a press conference in the Oval Office? He's such a poor person's view of a wealthy person.
  16. meh. Many of us went to cash in Feb/Mar. I was previously 100% in stock for the past 30 years. While it will ultimately be a good thing for me to have the stock market continue to drop, I don't hope that happens. Exception: I do celebrate every time I see that Tesla is down.
  17. Donald Trump VIII may allow partial elections in 2244
  18. Impossible to discuss the current market conditions without including the cause. If someone can't handle the fact that Trump caused a market collapse then I agree they should stay away from any market discussions for a while.
  19. I know he didn't but Cedrek voting for yourself could be a rock star move as long as you actually don't cast the deciding vote to send you home. It can throw chaos in a group because they want to figure out who did it. Of course I assume that Sai will admit to it. Then halfway apologize when reminded that she's only there because of Cedrek. Sai is perhaps the worst player ever to have made it this far.
  20. It would be funny if not so tragic but any Trump tweet or TV appearance by his team, makes the market drop more. I think that if they could just shut up (spoiler, they can't), the market would stabilize.
  21. Has the WH said, on TV or press briefing, that some innocent people were wrongly deported? I know the blonde propagandist made some comment about a clerical error but she followed that up by saying that the people involved were definite gang members/terrorists. Which makes no sense. Which is it?
  22. SMH at the MAGA folks who argue that non-citizens have zero constitutional protection especially due process. When prompted about how do we know that the person is an undocumented worker and that due process can be utilized for a court to make that determination, they argue against that path. They effectively want to empower ICE to make the determination without allowing the person to argue their case. It's like some bad Cheech music video with Jan-Michael Vincent as the judge, jury and executioner.
  23. Why not start sending any American citizen to El Salvador without due process, and then declare that the govt has zero duty to work to return them. Let the person fight it out with the El Salvadoran courts, which of course have zero jurisdiction in the matter as well.
  24. Appalling that the Trump WH is arguing that, while they agree they incorrectly deported someone, the Supreme Court should not order the Administration to return the man to the US. Basically, yeah we screwed up but the bigger mistake is if you force us to correct our original mistake.
  25. Doesn't Amazon/vendor at least attempt to resell returned items? An assembled desk creates delivery problems. Elevate the home repair game beyond manual screwdrivers. Disassembling a desk shouldn't take more than a few minutes with a cordless screwdriver or impact driver/wrench. Saves your wrist and forearms as well.
