  1. 56 here. I find myself drinking less and less. A big reason is that it impacts my sleep. If I have more than 3+ drinks at night, I'm lucky to get 4 hours of sleep and even that is low quality. And as I lower the drinking, the drink count that impacts my sleep has gotten lower and lower. To a point, that I can tell when walking up, I had as low as 2 drinks. I might be ok with 2 but its not the same as 0. I'm still prone to going over board on vacations but then I just suffer through horrible sleep. Honesty, I've thought about kicking drinking altogether on a day to day basis. Perhaps hold a beer or wine glass at a social/work happy hour in case it makes others feel uncomfortable or judged if someone else isn't drinking. As for melatonin, I take 3mg if I feel that I will have trouble sleeping for whatever reason. It definitely helps me fall asleep in about an hour but it doesn't keep me asleep.
  2. Perfectly normal to start deploying political watch dogs in every school.
  3. Imagine being so desperate that you are robbing a DQ at 9pm.
  4. Sorry to hear about this guy but I really hate seeing the words “high speed chase” in any story because it puts the lives of others in danger. Since he appeared to escape the police chase, I assume the local law enforcement has a policy against following too close in these chases. Effectively letting them get away, and continue to look for them.
  5. I called it. These companies will throw some coupons to those paying fully out of pocket. If you use your insurance or Medicare, it’s full price. Which means higher premiums for all.
  6. The Rx companies will push to offer coupons for low income/uninsured folks. This is always how they appease politicians who can claim wins. Keeping insurance reimbursement at high levels is the goose that lays the golden eggs.
  7. I've had a few coworkers lose large amounts of weight over the last year. I can't say it's GLP-1 drugs but it's a safe assumption. They look great and you would have to guess there are health benefits by dropping that much weight/stress on their body. GLP-1 also looks to have similar benefits for alcohol, drug and gambling addictions. Maybe more of us need to microdose GLP-1.
  8. I'm 55+ but I can't imagine living in a 55+ community. My assumption is that 55+ mainly means 70+ and I'm not interested in that yet.
  9. Is he going to announced another 1000% discount? As for the airport issues, I'm cheering as many long lines and potential cancellations as possible. I feel for anyone impacted by the problems but Americans need to face the consequences of who we elected. Duffy, the Transportation Sec may announced potential flight cancellations but I somehow doubt Trump will go for that. He knows that he can't just inconvenience Democrats with these issues.
  10. The Epstein files will never be fully released while Trump is alive. As soon as they're about to be released, there will be a judge who will block the release. Then it will have to slowly work it's way through some courts for years. Delay Delay Delay.
  11. There's nothing worse than someone who immediately plays the "I'm calling my lawyer and will sue all of you" card. I will bet anything that Mace will not move forward with this lawsuit once she fully recognizes that it would entail that she sit for a deposition and potentially on the witness stand. EDIT: Mace would only accuse her alleged rapist when she was on the floor of the House and somewhat protected by law that allows Reps to have protected speech. It would be interesting if opposing counsel, in this case, could get her to speak to the alleged situation in terms of her defaming others. If so, that could open up to the alleged rapist suing her. I would assume that the House floor accusation could then be brought in as evidence since it wouldn't be the only defamatory speech but rather a pattern.
  12. Many of the propositions are about protecting Texas from future liberal leadership. If Texas seriously starts to flip blue (lol) but the GOP has one last gasp of power, one can only imagine the 100s of props that would be proposed in that last election.
  13. This picture may create a future Texas proposition to say that not only do you have to be a citizen to vote, you must be a human. After all, we don't know who trained that cat to vote for Marxist ideas and candidates.
  14. I wonder how many Texans really thought that they were preventing illegal immigrants from voting in future elections with that one prop. I bet quite a few Texans were slightly pissed because they stupidly assume that those same immigrants were probably voting no to the proposition. The low intelligence of Texans always come out in the referendums.
  15. Yeah but hindsight investing is always easy. Give me the DeLorean and my wealth would make Biff look like a pauper. I'm far from a Dave Ramsey follower but there is something strong about not having a mortgage even if it's not necessarily the best method to maximize your net worth. I'm in my 50s and my only real financial regret is that I didn't prioritize paying off my house sooner.
  16. What's the formula to determine how to charge a "tariff" on someone moving to Texas? Has Trump fully redefined the word tariff to mean punishment fee? I filed my taxes late, the IRS imposed a tariff on me.
  17. I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t have taken advantage of a refi when rates were below 3%. Obviously if you only had a few years left, I could see why not.
  18. Most scandalous day in the history of presidency.
  19. According to the tribune, all of the props are easily passing. As of 11:30p last night. The lowest performing one had a 58% yes approval. it should be criminal that props sometimes say one thing but mean so much more.
  20. I was being sarcastic. I see little reason for the Dems to back down as they are being hurt much less than the GOP here.
  21. Wonder if Bush will actually make the funeral. He and Cheney broke up over Bush not pardoning Scooter Libby after Libby was convicted. As a reminder, while the was on WH staff, he leaked information to the press about a CIA agent. Bush ultimately commuted the sentence so Libby never went to prison but Bush left the $200K fine and supervised release. Trump later fully pardoned Libby.
  22. I'm shocked the Trump WH didn't have a plan on what to do when the govt shutdown was going on for so long that the TSA and ATC are getting a little sick of working without pay.
  23. I'm right in the middle of both of you at 2.6% but a much smaller balance of ~$110K. I don't think I will necessarily pay it off next year but have the money earning 4%. It gives me the flexibility to use the money for something else, if needed. I imagine that when the balance is closer to 50K, I will say screw it and write a check (click the payoff button.)
  24. What's the next closest airport? Depending on where someone is in Houston, maybe it could be faster to catch the flight out of Beaumont or BCS, and have the return flight back into Houston. For those with Clear, there's an additional service called Clear Concierge. It's listed as meeting you at the curb and walking you through security. I wonder if they even bypass the normal Clear line, or just walk you to the back of the line. I wouldn't normally buy this, but $100 might be worth it.
