  1. We should enforce our laws. Additionally, I’ve always been a proponent of the safe storage of firearms. Shitty situation, but could have so easily never have happened with the smallest modicum of responsibility (safe storage).
  2. Such as a 1911, M9, P320, and several glock models? All actual military weaponry, not actual non-military weaponry like you are alluding to.
  3. I mostly agree. But an educated person who can’t afford to pay their bills does what for society? And we both know a large swath of society couldn’t grasp the education they’d be provided anyhow. College is expensive, there’s LOTS of things we could do to drop the cost. But there’s only so many seats at the table. How many multiples would you pay to attend UT over aggy?
  4. Yes, paying for a bunch of kids to get some shit degree from aggy and UH has always been a dream of mine. The other part of that is many of these kids are really, really fucking smart. And I agree, they may not have a full grasp of it at 18, but they should a few years in, for sure. Hard to believe a kid at UT who’s top 5-6%, with bad ass SAT and ACT scores, can’t run some simple finance calcs. I don’t fully understand this reasoning. We are asking them (largely) to pick a career path for the remainder of their life, or a good chunk of it anyhow, with many of the degree plans. You go into med, law, engineering, accounting/finance with at least an idea that’s what you’re going to try to make a living doing. Maybe general studies/Lib arts gives you more flexibility and more of a choice to decide what you want. Giving them real world actuals of what to expect as a lower-middle of the road employee in their chosen path would be huge in making these decisions. Maybe that does happen (it didn’t for me).
  5. Booked a private RV spot on a bay yesterday. The property is basically two RV slots, with one large T-head pier into the bay. Got an email shortly after booking last night asking what our intention was with the stay. “Our family likes to and regularly fishes this bay, and would like to use the RV instead of condo/house this trip”. Approved. Then, a few minutes later, an email comes inquiring about family size. “Wife, husband, 3 kids 10 to 7”. “Oooh that’s going to be a problem, as we only allow 8 guests at any time on the property”. Maybe you can find another RV couple that only has 3, or rent out both spots (for 2x the cost)?” They literally stated this is to protect the grass. Now been trying to get the $$ back and the woman is flabbergasted that we won’t 1) leave one the kids at home, 2) search for a couple to join our family trip, 3) double our price and not use the spot next to me. With such a dipshit fucking rule, why not state that upfront? Especially since you are only providing a fucking driveway to park in. Apparently they keep these two spots pretty booked up, good for them. But that’s the kind of thing you would think would be good to know before exchanging funds.
  6. Less than 3 miles from one my favorite spots on earth.
  7. People get stupid driving on that beach. It’s really not hard to navigate it if you know how to handle sand. I see it every. Single. Time.
  8. Oof. Sand looks good but what you gonna do with that water? I don’t do holidays on the water (get off my lawn!!1!) unless it’s Thanksgiving or Christmas. I’m sure some fine citizen from Braz county is going to make a killing with his snatch strap and mudders.
  9. Same. We just got back from a week gone and it was maybe 1.5” low, probably closer to an inch. Been drinking the fuck out of beer and night swimming tho. Glad the wife talked me into the pool.
  10. That’s what I was wondering. So a “hard” loaded Lariat. I’ll never be in the market for a 1/2 ton but like to keep an eye on what the market is.
  11. Nah. Been with this guy at several places now. But I just made it to the bottom of the top, even without being employed by a bank. Will end up treating myself at some point.
  12. So what spec did you end up with? Sorry can’t tell from pics.
  13. This is the kind of thing that would tempt a lesser man to rent a month later, and accidentally have some legitimate “emergency repairs”.
  14. I currently reached a similar milestone, where I had told myself I’d ignore the (rather absurd) finances of it and get the watch I’ve always wanted. My biggest problem is my boss is a very cheap man, and that shit would stick out like dogs balls. Once I figure out how to navigate that, it’s happening.
  15. Just fighting the aero mostly. I used to have a skinny water cat on an 18” full riser, huge wide console. It was like towing a barn. Took half the effort to tow the skid steer around than it did that little bay boat. ~7k delta in weight between the two. We returned from our week at Concan today. Trailer did finominile, as usual. Got several semi local stays lined up over next several weeks. Can’twait.gif
  16. Won’t be long before Eric figures out how to get two of these on the back. Just lol that my rig was fast when I built at 70-71, now it’s literally middle of pack to somewhat slow. Unless it was a L&B BG 20 it wasn’t going to out and out pass you (pre-linered Stingray and no one had bubbles on the extremes yet) That said, 210k after being tourney trail used and abused…
  17. No. That’s much harder to type out in teenage font. Hows that? I’ve advocated for safe storage laws for years. You know, one of the ideas that actually saves lives, but is rarely mentioned because it doesn’t really make for a great politico soundbite.
  18. This high pressure heatwave is terrible. Fucking gun culture is getting out hand here.
  19. What spec did you end up with? I hired a kid the other day. Fucker shows up to the office in a newish 250KR. Funny it was spec’d just like one of our C-Suites, but newer. Oh to not have 3 529’s.
  20. Well, I guess I do better than the 10’s to hundreds of thousands that can’t figure out rent? So this goes back to trading minor inconveniences as to not live next to low paid, low skilled workers. Ok.
  21. No one is arguing that. We have lots and lots of people who don’t draw much water, but like to live in one of if not the “trendiest” cities in America. People not being able to afford what they want is not new.
  22. I agree. But you’re choosing to live there. I’d fucking love to live in River Oaks, right down Chevy Chase. But I’m a few million a year short for that. So I don’t get to.
  23. Because people understand that wanting to live in a very expensive city may not be in the cards for someone who’s “worth” is $10/hr. It’s the reason commutes and shithole parts of cities exist. There is nothing to be alarmed about. Roommates still exist. Colleges still exist. Get a roommate or an education and your inability to afford Austin disappears.
