  1. TL;DR. Seems like you really, really don't like Charlie and you really, really might be a litigator.
  2. And definitely saved his body by going down at every shoe-string swipe hurled at him. Saved himself plenty of wear & tear on the body and also saved himself from the burden of finding out exactly how many mo' problems making mo' money brings you. Competitiveness and hunger will always reign supreme at that position.
  3. Saw The Internet at Emo's on Thursday. Really good show. I know they're a proper "band" but it was still pretty cool to see everything played live with the amount of keyboards/synths they use in their brand of funk/r&b. Syd can really, really sing too. Glad it was sold out. 2 weeks out for Gary Clark's rescheduled show that I should've seen earlier this year. Literally been waiting for it all year.
  4. I don't find it hard to imagine a better defense at all. Not including the last couple games? Then lets revisit our two huge early wins (and Maryland) again. JT Daniels has 11 TDs and 9 INTs this year. Shawn Robinsonhas thrown 9 TDs and 8 INTs this year, before being benched. Maryland has been held to 14, 0 and 3 points this year (and none of those teams that kicked their asses are ranked right now). I'm not saying this to rehash our failures, I'm saying this year has been one big failure on defense. This isn't some new phenomenon that came after Kyler Murray, this defense has been suspect all year and finally played some teams with an offensive pulse. Therefore expecting our defense to not be a big failure next year again would be a pretty low bar I'd be willing to set. The only player I'm really worried about replacing is Nelson. Everybody else has production that is replaceable. I wish I could add G. Johnson to the list, but even he has had a pretty shitty 2nd half of this season.
  5. Don't have many brushes at all, walked past Shaq at the Galleria in Houston once, near an entrance to a department store with nobody else around but his friend and my family, kind of surreal. Nate Diaz worked out at my gym last year (24 hour fitness at the Hancock Center) before UFC Austin. Also saw Mia Khalifa there acting stupid and annoying during SXSW (jumping on and off machines, generally just fucking around while a hotter blonde friend and some ugly short dude actually worked out). One day in Memphis I was walking down the street minding my own business, just walking off, feeling good, I walk around the corner, a man walk up, hit me in my chest right? I fall on the ground right? and i look up and Dr. Martin Luther the King, I say "DR. KING!?" he say: "oops I thought you were somebody else..." tl;dr I saw a porn star and ufc fighter at my gym and shaq at the galleria and martin luther the king punched me in my chest once.
  6. While we're at it, why is it David Bowie but James Bowie?
  7. I was all for the name change because I originally believed in the mistake. Now I'm not so sure, but it seems to me both sides (Spanish-Texan settler vs. French/Choctaw pronunciation) have about the same amount of evidence and the same amount of BS within their argument. But one reason I don't fault myself for believing the Menchaca story is because white people mispronounce shit just because it doesn't sound nice to them all the time, especially in Texas. Sue me.
  8. Yeah I don't know about that. I'd go with "Bonney didn't look as athletic as freshmen in practice." With the amount of confusion and bone-headed plays we've seen this year, we could've certainly used some help back there from a guy whose main positive was his brain (since he wasn't the most athletic). He was also a solid tackler. Instead we get Locke forgetting to get set for plays, multiple guys refusing to tackle and every game we get a new receiver running wide-ass open for bombs. Running him off of a team with a thin depth chart full of guys who still haven't mastered coverages in our scheme was a short-sighted move.
  9. I'd take 5-2 100 times out of 100 with the shit we've been dealt over the last few months. Give me 2 out of the next 3 going into the game against the limping Rockets and I'll be ecstatic. DeRozan is really good at basketball.
  10. I went a couple months ago and got the Reuben, it was solid. Took too damn long to make a sandwich (30 minutes), but it was solid. It was middle of the lunch rush though.
  11. True, and pretty disappointing. But people will remember him fondly for that 2000. Boyd will gets shrugs.
  12. I know what's waiting behind him, but I also know that both of them are 1st or 2nd year players, not 4th year seniors who got left behind by their teammate who actually had NFL talent. There's still hope for Boyce and tons of hope for true freshman Cook (and Green). Boyd is at his max as a college player, literally, and is quickly running out of time to build a legacy here. He will be forgotten in 2 years.
  13. Or after they throw their first WR screen outside and it isn't blown up by Davis. He's not a great cover corner, but he adds value to this team at a position where not many other players are willing to mix it up like he is.
  14. Ball had some piss-poor effort on defense last night. He plays a bit like his brothers over in Uzbekistan or wherever they're playing. Like it's an AAU showcase. Lazy as shit. That reminds me of the LBJ shot at the end of regulation. Rudy Gay really, really disappointed me there. We're up by 3 with less than 7 seconds and he gives LBJ space above the 3 point line. He should've been hounding him as soon as he crossed half-court, and in no universe should he have been sagging off anywhere close to the 3 point line. Especially with so little time, you make him rush into a shot without his feet set at the very least. Even if he gets by you, at last make him rush the shot if you can't run him off the line.
  15. Averages sound good when discussing statistics, but so does mentioning that they played South Alabama and Missouri State early on. Did you account for that? How about the fact that they only put up 17 on Tech and 12 on Kansas State, and already have a game against Kansas to factor into their statistics?
  16. Not super-optimistic, but I do realize it's a viable game-plan. If you're scared to ask him to be a playmaker on Saturday, then put the ball in the hands of your 3 proven playmakers and let them work. CJ and Lil' J on the outside and Keontay inside. Shit, that's what Sterlin Gilbert used to free up room for D'Onta to run for 2,000, it just took us 3 and a half quarters to use it against Baylor's defense.
  17. I wish this was true. But the closest one to me is off Airport Blvd in Austin, and I never recommend that one. I still go there routinely, but I don't recommend it, it's just not quality. My favorites are usually in the nearest small town. The closer to Corpus the better.
  18. 82-0. We want the Warriors. I don't know what to make of this team yet, I don't know how we're going to find defense with the talent we have, but I'll be watching.
  19. I noticed that windfall too. I don't remember ever really paying attention to the fact that the clock keeps running (until we really, really needed it to Saturday).
  20. I just turned the corner to basketball season last week too. I was starting to get excited at the thought of DJM getting better, getting to witness the star that is DeMar, and just overall committing to this new Spurs team, but that injury is just a kick in the balls. Sports can be a real punk ass bitch sometimes. The silver lining is seeing Derrick White get his shot (and possibly even alleviate the talk of this team being a shit 3-point shooting team this year), but I think we all know this could be bad on the defensive end this year. I'll watch, but I'm not giddy about this season starting like I was last week.
  21. And none of this is to mention all the lines Conor crossed during build up. All the lines he could cross with Mayweather before they shared champagne (and/or blow) on the private jet before they flew to the next press tour stop. I'd pay a PPV fee just to hear/understand/translate what Khabib was saying to Conor when he was beating the shit out of him on the ground. That was some possessed/determined shit.
  22. He's not nearly as bad as Tristan Nickelson, or Shack last year, or Rodriguez at tackle last year, so our floor is definitely higher as an o-line, and that's important.
  23. I haven't been in this thread much because fuck Jones and Garrett and our refusal to help our secondary and our refusal to surround Dak with weapons that sorely needs............... but I'm quoting this bc I've never in my years of watching the Cowboys seen a QB throw to so many covered receivers in my life. I had just finished hearing that all of Dak's interceptions this year were apparently off of the hands of his receivers, when he threw ANOTHER one to a Texan that was also batted (and may have hit the hands of his receiver). But even if it did, it hit hands because he's consistently thrown into coverage this year. I know the receivers are bad, and it's true that the reasoning is partially because they can't fucking separate, but his decision making is not helping them out. You can't throw to a covered receiver who is below league average as it is. And wtf is up with these lines? Houston's O line has looked like dog shit all damn year, getting Deshaun beat up out there, and now they look like the Cowboys from 3 years ago giving him time to throw darts all across the damn field. Fucking ridiculous. I think I'm mentally done for this year too. I'll watch most of the games probably (ok maybe), but I'm done giving a shit.
