  1. Texas has a subpar record of winning Big 12 championships in football, so that is what matters.
  2. This is a totally different research group and 'superconducting' material, btw. These people who got their work into Nature (until it got yanked now) also claimed high temperature superconductors, but they had to do this at extremely high pressures, like between the faces of two diamonds pushed together at the maximum possible force. It would still be a big advance but it would be a long way from the normal conditions that LK-99 was supposed to work in. There was already talk about their results being questionable and having papers retracted, before the new guys claimed the LK-99 stuff that would work at normal room conditions that made much more news. So two independent sketchy high temperature superconductor claims.
  3. No, they are the ones that tried to corner the silver market back around 1980 or so, driving up the price to $50/ozt briefly, until it all crashed down.
  4. I would be surprised if this is even possible, other than the obvious way of asking the current website owners for the data. I would think that all the accessible records of the traffic are on the hosts which the current owners have. Of course the ISP's have records that could be found but not without a court order or being NSA. I'm sure plenty of people pretend that they have this data but my guess is that they make up/'estimate' most of it. I have never tried though, curious what is actually possible.
  5. The Disney posts were half-coherent. Mainly it took the cruise ship to make him coherent. (I think he may have done IT for a cruise line, before working at Disney as a half-retired gig, IIRC.)
  6. Except when the subject was cruise ships running aground. In that case Phlegm's posts were completely coherent.
  7. Which of the representatives who voted to remove him do you expect to change their vote?
  8. Nonstop >> 1 stop >>>> 2+ stops. Then I look for flights that fit my other travel plans. I don't mind the early flights, even though I am very much not a morning person, as you have less chance of things getting messed up, and more time to do something that day where you are going. I'd consider the discount airlines if the stops/schedule is good, but I wouldn't pick them just for the low cost. And yes, Southwest is not a discount carrier, but I will happily fly them if they fit my criteria above, which for some routes they do.
  9. Help my gringo dumbass with this: Does this mean something like 'Imagine you live in Switzerland and do not have these things?' or something like that?
  10. On the very first day in forever that the high drops below 100 to 99? I don't think we are done here.
  11. Did pinch snek's tail, which it probably didn't like much.
  12. I figure you will pay more in interest than you will get on the money you did not pay, so you come out a little behind financing either way, usually. But when I bought a new car 5 years ago, I decided to go halfway: I paid half in cash, and financed the other half. My credit reports usually mentioned lack of installment payments for things like car loans for the main reason my score wasn't better. So I financed half to help my score. That arrangement made sense, I think I'll do that next time.
  13. Why does the value drop affect why you would pay cash or finance? I don't see why it would make any difference. I know that buying slightly used cars is financially better than buying new, but I have been happier with the cars I bought new and got what I wanted.
  14. Have you paid any attention at all to the Republican party in the last 20 years???
  15. I figure that the camera angle is designed to make it easy to identify people, that seems like the point of a mug shot. Lots of these are super overexposed which seems odd.
  16. He will most certainly win the nomination, unless he keels over dead, and maybe even then. The indications will completely solidify his position in the GOP primary.
  17. Maybe we could get all the invasive Burmese pythons to take over Mar-A-Lago.
  18. Jane's Addiction blew away Love and Rockets.
  19. It has occurred to me, that those giant cruise ships look very top heavy and would be very vulnerable to a torpedo hit or other underwater damage. Sending them into a minefield would probably work as well.
  20. See page 144 of this thread. It was the top result for googling 'RICO Gatorubet site:surlyhorns.com'. That site: part is very useful for searching message board that have bad built-in search.
  21. Probably something like this. Has she talked to the apartment management? They are probably looking to get rid of abandoned junk more than pissing off residents so she might get a reprieve if it is inspected and just needs the sticker.
