  1. Having recently "assisted" my parents in their declining years and eventual death, I have told my wife that when the time comes, find the best facility you can find, come see me twice a week, make sure I have a working computer and tv, and bring two handles of Glen Livet each visit. I'm only half joking. Spending 5 years (of my "Golden Years") taking care of declining parents has shown me that one of the horrible things about AD is that the person becomes...an inconvenience...a burden. That's a hard thing to say but it is the truth. As Mo said above, "you've gotta die of something." $20B annually could built some decent facilities...and that's another thing, "decent" doesn't have to be the Driscoll Hotel. Cinder block construction, good lighting, plastic covered mattresses, that is adequate. When someone shits the bed two or three times a day ease of clean up becomes the priority, not Stiffel lamps with crystal bobbles. Over staff the place. Don't use "the minimum required by law." And we've got to get over the notion that *judicious* use of medications is wrong. If a medication can bring a person out of a snit, or a rage, or a hallucination, then use the damn medication. The patient will be more comfortable, and the staff will not get furious with the patient which leads to abuse. I know it would only be a matter of time, a short time, before graft and corruption would set in, but I think it might be 20 Bill better spent as opposed to some medication chase that appears to be going no where. Oh, and when you find the corruption, put the mother fuckers in prison. Not just some bullshit fine. Lock 'em up. They are stealing from the most vulnerable in our society. They are monsters.
  2. Same. I was pleasantly surprised.
  3. I don't find this on the Lucas page. What model is it?
  4. Spicewood Rd. at 360. Zip. Zero. Nada.
  5. Screw this take over stuff. Where does one acquire that leather trench coat? I want that coat. I want it. Never be an opportunity to wear it but it would look bitchin' in the closet...or on the coat rack in the entry.
  6. I'm getting conflicting reports. We've just had a major pool rebuild, plaster and everything. Part of the reason is that the skimmer was leaking to the support structure below...the pool is suspended. Replacing the support structure was a major part of the expense so I am anxious to not have chlorinated water on the steel structure again. The builder took out the skimmer saying adequate floor jets and pump pressure would take care of it and no skimmer would be required. What says surl. PS no trees close so no leaves. PPS it is a negative edge pool and the builder says the basin acts as a skimmer since all the water eventually goes over the negative edge into the basin which has filters.
  7. Santana III, aka “The Man with the Outstretched Hand” is a desert island album for me. Get well, Carlos.
  8. Fireworks over the 360 Bridge last night. Happy 3rd of July??
  9. I'm in an acoustic phase right now and I can't bring myself to put aftermarket locking tuners on my Martin. Gotta' admit that the locking one's on my Strat make it much easier. Maybe I'll reconsider putting them on the Martin...naahh...
  10. Storage problem? Pish Posh! Try being an electric guitar and amplifier collector. Now that's a storage problem.
  11. Changing strings. 50 years I've been doing it and I still suck at it...bad. I consider it a blessing if strings don't slip afterwards, and yes I lock them, but I just suck at it.
  12. Apparently going to tunnel under the Colorado River. I've got a bad feeling about this.
  13. Perhaps the empty wine bottle is of signifIcance.
  14. More importantly, further down the article is brief mention of failure to get septic permits, for what will likely be a large operation, including families currently living there in trailers. This is close to the Colorado River and water/septic should be meticulous.

  16. I just watched the George Strait and Willie Nelson vid. Hardest part of growing old is watching friends and legends get old and die. The time in life when funerals take up too much of your time. My friends and I wonder who will be the next.
  17. Age to obtain firearms should be raised to, at least 25. Below from Nature.com Most, if not all of these shooters are young men in the below age range. Not the solution but a part of the solution. This is the first large-scale epidemiological meta-analysis that includes all available general population birth, cross-sectional and incidence studies investigating the age at onset of any ICD/DSM-mental disorders. Overall, the global onset of the first mental disorder occurs before age 14 in one-third of individuals, age 18 in almost half (48.4%), and before age 25 in half (62.5%), with a peak/median age at onset of 14.5/18 years across all mental disorders.
  18. No apologies needed. I'm just venting...and looking for someone to finish it. Deck done. Just need someone who knows where to glue what and help me program. I'm in Austin. I know I'm going to pay a premium...no one likes sloppy seconds.
  19. Mine rides in the blind spot, for fucking ever. I tell her go on and pass. She says she’s afraid they’ll change lanes. I say so go on and just ride behind them but get out of the fucking blind spot. Dammit!! Tone.
  20. I guess I look foolish for expecting someone to show up when they say they will and then nothing. This project started April 2021. Over a year. I’m frustrated. I’ve been involved in 4 home remodels and 3 office finish outs so I’m familiar with the time frames, but a year is past what I’ve put up with before. I appreciate your input.
  21. Please recommend a builder in Austin who will finish a pool that’s 90% done. I haven’t seen my builder in 10 days and I always get the “tomorrow “ answer. I’ve paid every invoice, even a bit over but for reasons unknown I’ve been abandoned. Several jets that have been plumbed but not installed. 5 laminars plumbed but not installed. Zero edge drip basin installed but not painted. I can’t stand anymore “tomorrow “ answers. I look foolish. This has been a pattern and I need to get the picture. It’s not going to get better.
  22. So this is a hobby, this hole digging?
  23. I was raised on Karo Syrup and evaporated milk. It worked fine. I am now old. Graduated from The University of Texas with high honors so it didn't do any brain damage. Used to barefoot waterski (before I got so darn old) so it didn't do any physical damage.
  24. I have half dozen cases of whiskey stashed away. I'm going to drink my way through the holocaust.
