  1. How? The schools themselves aren't paying beyond the scholarship and "full cost of tuition". NIL collectives are associated with the school, but they're playing for a players name, image, and likeness, not paying them to play sports....Like an NFL player getting endorsements that technically have nothing to do with their team contract. Two things I think will have to happen long term are changes to the transfer rules, and changes in NIL contracts to multi-year. We've gone guardrail to guardrail with transfer rules. I'd be in favor of something like 1 "free" transfer, then you have to sit out a year if you transfer a second time. Maybe a waiver if the head coach gets fired or something, but this model of kids looking to transfer every season for a better NIL deal are unsustainable. Then maybe put buyouts in multi-year NIL deals. If you want to transfer to play QB at Auburn, Auburn NIL has to pay your buyout to Georgia's NIL collective or whatever.
  2. I wouldn't mind having a separate game thread for each trial. Some of the catch-all threads get hard to follow after a few hundred pages and 90whatever indictments.
  3. Yep, my Sr year GPA was waaaay better after a summer of manual labor in the Texas heat.
  4. I was gonna say...My Texas saltwater box, Mexico/Caribbean box, Bass/farm pond box, Conventional SW box, conventional freshwater box, or my trout fly box? For a while there I was carrying a Texas license, Colorado license, and Louisiana license in my license holder.
  5. Worked at a fence company in Port Arthur, Texas the summer before my senior year of high school. The place was owned by a father/son that were like the odd couple. The old man sat in his office and chain smoked and did all the accounting and yelled at anyone that interrupted him. The son handled sales, drove an old "Thunder Chicken" Trans-Am, and was probably a sex pest. I spent the first couple weeks knocking around the shop sweeping floors and helping move freshly welded gates and stuff around. TXDOT was just starting construction of the Veteran's Memorial Bridge between Port Arthur and Bridge City, and they got the contract to set up all the temporary fencing around the construction site. I spent the rest of my summer in the SE Texas marsh sweating and covered in mosquitos, standing in the bed of a pickup with a hand held pile driver hammering about 5 miles of fence posts into the mud, then stringing chain-link fence, then topping with barbed wire, all for minimum wage. We had two "crews" (4 people total) that worked that job on and off all summer. If we got a few days of rain, we would have to go do residential jobs or something until the ground dried up enough out there that we didn't get the trucks stuck. I might have had the highest level of formal education of that whole crew as a rising HS senior. Best part of the job was my partner would buy me beer at the stop and go on the way back into town every day, and he'd stop at the liquor store every Friday afternoon and buy me a bottle of whatever I wanted, and I'd buy him a pint of Jim Beam as payment. You could have made a pretty goddamn funny reality show about the goings on in that place. OSHA would have shut them down 5 minutes into an inspection if they'd ever shown up there.
  6. I'd fucking lose mine in 3 days or less if I didn't just stick it in my wallet as soon as I got it.
  7. A good chunk of them would probably blow their trigger fingers off. Modern problems require modern solutions.

  10. Obama going on xitter or whatever and challenging Trump to a 100 yard dash would break the internet.
  11. I 100% believe Ronny told him that. But Ronny has brain worms just like Trump.
  12. Damn, Now I'm tempted to find a book that will give me odds on Maalik Murphy Heisman 2024.
  13. Get through bowl games, maybe graduate, or maybe get passed up in the spring by an early enrollee or portal player.
  14. This picture reminds me of a school yard scuffle when I was in elementary school. I grew up in Port Arthur in the 70s and 80s when 90% of the town either worked in a refinery or a related business. During one particularly long strike year one kid in my elementary school who's dad was out on strike beat another kid's ass who's dad had crossed the picket line.

  17. Women of privilege can be just as shitty as their male counterparts.
  18. I've carried a Costanza wallet all my life, but may make a change soon. Rojo Jr started carrying a wallet when he turned 16 and got his DL and debit card. Prior to that, he had the little stick on pouch on the back of his phone case. About a month after he got his first wallet (one someone gave me that I'd never used) he lost it at a school event. I ordered him a slim aluminum one from Amazon that had a spot for an air tag. It's got room for 4-5 cards, a money clip on one side, and an indention for an air tag with a screw down cover on the other side. Whole thing is about as thick as an iPhone. The air tag has already saved him twice. Now that so many loyalty card/insurance cards, etc are available as apps/eCards, I may move to something like Rojo Jrs.
  19. Micah Parsons has to be chubbed up watching that.
