  1. It comes across that way if you don't understand a) why he's in a wheelchair, b) the financial benefits he receives due to the settlement associated with that reason, and c) his later actions to cap similar awards to far less than the benefits he has received. Abbott is, I believe, the one exception to my being 100% against the use of a reference like Hot Wheels.
  2. I've stayed in what may be the same condos, and the mornings on the lanai were amazing. Lack of dipshits (tourists) was incredible. I hope it never changes on Molokai - best of luck to the locals who continue to resist tourism-related development. If you enjoy a slower pace, don't need to pampered, and can accept being treated as an outsider at times, Molokai can be awesome.
  3. The assassination brought me back, but I had missed this from just up the thread. Thanks for posting. I do know a number of Persians, but I'd never really thought about why. Good stuff, too, about reasons to believe in the people.
  4. I can only speak to the rental aspect - I've had a good experience with them a couple times. Super convenient delivery , quality clubs, and good savings over renting at a resort/course.
  5. Saw something about Stony Point HS on twitter
  6. I happened to be in the area yesterday so I stopped by the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, one of the main places pressing hard to produce as many artillery shells as possible. I was curious as to where it actually was, and it's right there in the middle of all kinds of things. Anyway, hookem to everyone busting their ass to increase production of such a sorely needed item right now.
  7. Um, yeah... THIS Brisket is BEST Brisket. Thanks for sharing
  8. Goddammit. Slaughterhouse next door is a staple for snorkeling, including swimming around the point into Honolua. Fantastic area to chill for a day.
  9. The up-armored Humvee, which includes a gun turret, was taken from the vehicle depot at 2850 Leah Avenue sometime between the evening of November 22 and the morning of November 28 after a suspect or suspects entered a fenced-in area.
  10. many pictures in the slideshow, and SIAP, but Zelensky announced as Time's Person of the Year He's got to have an early but huge lead for Person of the Century.
  11. Hard to believe I've read 1,000 pages of this, and I still look forward* to reading updates each day thanks to the quality and variety of sources and perspectives offered. * What I really look forward to is the day that this thread is no longer needed, or superseded by a thread about the rebuilding of Ukraine. Fuck Putin, fuck Russia.
  12. My anecdote above aside, I do agree with this and the other posts suggesting there is more to this than we currently know.
  13. In third grade I often traveled an hour home from school - sometimes with classmates, many times without. Walks on either end of trains with two line changes along the way. Granted this was in Japan and safety was much less of an issue, but to think a 10 year old doesn't know how to walk home from a mile away is just severely shortchanging the intelligence of a young person.
  14. Like with countries not named Russia things actually work - consultation, cooperation, etc. - instead of 100% straight up lies and war crimes?
  15. Saturday's game is cancelled. I've said all along that whatever the players decide is the way it should go. But shit I wish there was another week to regroup, process, and prepare for a final home game. The atmosphere and level of support would've been massive and hopefully incredibly meaningful. I'm going to go to the Va Tech game assuming that happens and I imagine it will still be hugely emotional. My daughter will likely come home later this week as most activities are moving online through the Thanksgiving break.
