  1. Your last sentence is the key. If Russia moved the majority of their best men and equipment across the rivers where they can be trapped and eliminated, as seems likely, the river crossings and subsequent maneuvers will be against less capable and less well armed forces. That's when large collapses could happen. Ukraine just has to beware of overextending their forces.
  2. Well, it is well known that Julius was camera shy, so they had to go with the next best thing.
  3. I didn't get to watch Saturday but watched a replay last night. My main question is when, and why, did Sark get Tony Romo to coach the holder for field goals?
  4. I'd like to roll those bones.
  5. Some of both, but tactical in my use. Germany had the RAF within days of becoming ineffective by hitting radar installations and airfields. A German bomber got off course and bombed a non-military target in London. The Brits responded with a raid on a German city with few military targets. The Germans then shifted the focus of their bombing from military targets to civilian targets, allowing the RAF some breathing room and a chance to recover. Germany lost their opportunity to defeat the RAF and invade England because of that change in targeting priorities.
  6. So no, the Rooskies didn't learn the main lesson from the Battle of Britain. Good.
  7. We've moved from the "be as fascist as possible to get the nomination" phase into the "pretend we're not fascist to win the general" phase. I, too, am disappointed that the open embrace of fascism has ceased. Too many will forget.
  8. That is pretty high up the back for an accidental skid mark. Had to be an intentional wipe of the ass.
  9. Well, he's Jimbo's boss, so kinda related.
  10. From soggy Nastysota: FIGHT!!!
  11. Interesting timing for this. I love it.
  12. "Dancin', dancin', dancin'! He's a dancin' machine!"
  13. There's nothing irrational about that at all.
  14. Yep, supply chain issues.
  15. Keep fucking that chicken.
  16. People who get irrationally angry when others use their hazard signals in hazardous situations.
  17. Just like @FizzleFish said above. Add a package of ranch dip mix to a 32 oz jar of dill pickle slices and shake to mix. Let stand two or three days, then enjoy. I like the HEB Pickle Me Dilly slices for this, but I imagine Del-Dixie hamburger slices would be just as good.
  18. A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to ranch dill pickles, and now I am addicted.
  19. An offensive like this can cut both ways. If the Russians can stop the Ukrainians and throw them back, they would want to keep the pressure on and counterattack wherever Ukraine is weakest. Russia could be trying to reinforce to hold, set the situation to allow a withdrawal, or reinforce to throw back the Ukrainians and take the offensive themselves. If I were in charge of the Russian forces, I would try for going on the counterattack. With their logistical difficulties, it may be the best option. See also Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain at Little Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg.
  20. A pleasant thought just occurred to me: since Putin has shoved Shoigu aside and taken direct overall control over operations in Ukraine, if this offensive is successful, the responsibility is all his. Politically, logistically, and operationally. To steal a line: he remains a genius.
  21. Ok, Ukraine. Time to fuck up some trains.
  22. I want to believe, but the guy who is supposed to be surrounded sounds pretty calm and rested, there's no background noise, and the signal sounds remarkably good for not having much left in the way of comms. It sounds too staged. I am skeptical.
  23. We don't know that it has happened yet. Such maneuvers take some time, especially with the number of forces involved and the terrain. With the operational security that Ukraine is trying to enforce, we may not know that it has happened until well after it is completed. Patience, man, patience.
  24. Does Kenneth Copeland know that's missing from his dresser drawer?
