  1. "Quantity has a quality of it's own" has long been a Russian tactic. I don't think these mobilized troops will be enough to win, but they will complicate things for Ukraine. And don't count too much on mass mutiny once they get to Ukraine. Once you have been shot at, you tend to be more pissed at those shooting at than those who put you into that situation. There have already been reports of mutiny and even firefights between Russian units, but no collapse has occurred. That said, these poor saps are going to be under trained, under equipped, and under fed going into winter. This isn't going to be pretty. For them or Ukraine.
  2. Well that's just her all over.
  3. From somewhere I'd rather not be... FIGHT!!!
  4. Mine did, but it was a hassle because I don't dial onto the AOL anymore, so all of my emails went to the wrong places.
  5. Good article, but not one that I had read before.
  6. I'm reading "Texas Pasts", a book about how Texas history has been skewed by the myths that were taught to Texas school children to ingraine the political and social constructs of various times. Let's just say that the Texas history "facts" that most have been taught have only a passing acquaintance with the reality of what actually happened. It can be confusing and difficult to try to discern fact from myth.
  7. If I can find the books/articles where I read those, I'll pass the titles on to you.
  8. I was thinking of appealing for donations, not government collection, but you raise an excellent point. I won't CR it with the rest of my thought.
  9. No mention of Scott Joplin in Texarkana. Invalid map.
  10. I've got friends and acquaintances who claim to have thousands of rounds of 5.56 NATO and 7.62 x 39. The US could probably supply a year's worth of ammo for Ukraine just from private collections.
  11. Dude. I'm old and operating on short sleep. And like @nnm said, I've seen some shit, man.
  12. Then, by all means, let's help Ukraine make it "all of their troops are dead".
  13. That sounds like it's from a Mel Brooks movie.
  14. Sul Ross claimed to be the one who found Cynthia Ann Parker, but I read an account somewhere that another Ranger actually recognized her and took her into custody. When this was communicated to Ross, he took her and started telling folks that he, not the other Ranger, was the one to recover her. Charles Goodnight, who was a Rnger in that fight, saw that and never had a good thing to say about Ross afterwards. I've also seen the rumor that Goodnight was the Ranger who recognized Parker and had Ross steal his thunder. I wish I could remember where I saw that.
  15. Russia already "annexed" Crimea and claims it as Russian territory, and the Ukrainians haven't hesitated to attack assets there. Ukraine, backed by the US and UK, have said the the liberation of Crimea and all currently occupied Ukrainian territory is the end goal of their operation. Russia "annexing" the other occupied territories of Ukraine won't matter one damn bit. Ukraine will keep attacking.
  16. Another opportunity for the Abrams to show its complete superiority to Russian tanks. Let 'er rip.
  17. Sorry, I can't brag about that.
  18. Get well soon, man.
  19. Not entirely accurate about the amount of aid, but hilarious none the less.
  20. Hey, Girki: Don't start none, won't be none. Now take your licks like a man.
  21. As amazing as the Kharkiv offensive has been, there is still a lot of fighting left to clear the remaining occupied territory. The Kherson offensive seems to be grinding forward slowly, and the Kharkiv offensive is moving into the consolidation phase, slowing or stopping forward movement, at least temporarily. There are still western weapons systems that are not deployed in the Ukrainian Army, and a lot more Ukrainians to train. Obviously there are unknown actions planned by both sides, and the possibility exists that the Russian forces collapse and rapidly retreat or surrender, but successful generals have a plan for a long haul. We need to prepare ourselves for a long winter, some Ukrainian setbacks, and an even more active 2023. I still believe, more strongly than ever, that Ukraine will win all of their territory back, but it ain't over until the fat lady sings. As a wise man in a movie once said, let's don't go sucking each other's dicks just yet.
  22. I am mighty tempted to say Ukraine should respond by reciprocating and hitting Bolgorad, Kursk, and other Russian cities in range of HIMARS and destroying their infrastructure. I would rather Ukraine continue to concentrate on the Russian Army until they are all dead or gone from Ukrainian territory. Again, Russia shows that they are better terrorists than soldiers, and they know it.
  23. Fast and Furious X: Coatesville Drift
  24. Praying for your daughter and your family, Shooter. It's hard when something is hurting our kids and Daddy can't fix it. What you can do is support her and be there for her. The advances in cancer treatment are about a nanometer short of miraculous, and the whole catalog is fixing to bet thrown at the evil attacking your daughter. Be there and help her through the rough days, and y'all got this. And I second the suggestion that you need to moderate the drinking, if not cut off completely for a while. It doesn't really help much, and your family doesn't need another problem to deal with. My 2 cents.
  25. Why does he sound like a seagull? He's too cute.
