  1. He is his mother’s son.
  2. Forgive my ignorance of rural Mississippi and Alabama culture, but why would Kiffin leave for Auburn? I assume Ole Miss can pay him, he’s already installed his system and recruited players, and from best I can tell Oxford is a (relatively) nicer place to live.
  3. Probably the best writing ever IMO, but I’m a sacrilegious fanboy in that I don’t worship ANH and ESB as leaps and bounds above ROTJ, R1, and maybe ROTS. You can tell when this shit gets written by someone with a successful suspense/thriller/spy/action background and not by a SciFi Spaghetti Western loving virgin.
  4. Will be funny if/when they update that with the Yankees off the board. Signing Judge is probably bad ROI a few years down the road, but holy smokes the LOLs at Yankee fans.
  5. If the fuckhead Adams family never changes their minds about selling the Oilers rights, the Texans could also rebrand as the Eülers.
  6. I didn’t see it here and didn’t venture into the game threads with the hardcores, but for once I was on ESPN’s side of a stupid debate. They posted this terrible photoshop with some of the best US athletes and caught shit for disrespecting our USMNT players. Who gives a shit? You know how USMNT could earn some respect? Win some fucking games against good teams, or at least win the games you’re supposed to! And if they feel disrespected, maybe they should use that as “us against the world” fuel instead of being a joke of international competition for 20+ years.
  7. Good to know. My solid navy was too small, the navy with orange bill was perfect, and the orange with navy bill was too big.
  8. The bowls don’t seem to care about how many times a team has been there recently if there’s a clear ticket sales advantage (e.g. Alamo deciding between Texas vs KState, OSU, Baylor). The Holiday Bowl was always fun if we just missed the real deal, and the last few years I’ve sneaky wished if we lost 3+ that we’d make one in a different spot (Camping World or Cheeze-It in Orlando, Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, maybe even Liberty Bowl in Memphis). Instead, we’ve broke off an amazingly boring streak of either no bowl game, Alamo in San Antonio, or Texas Bowl in Houston. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz…..
  9. For the loyal Ewers defenders saying the expectations are too high because he is a freshman/19 and the season at OSU should count for nothing, do y’all realize the expectations were set by Ewers? He left HS a year early so he could declare for the NFL draft a year early and catch an extra year of NIL money. Big money from Ohio State, then $1m+ in NIL from Texas. Can there be any better reasons for sky high expectations (or at least that he should be a top 5 freshman k. D1) than all that behavior on top of the 1.000 5 star rating?
  10. In 2007, Texas went 10-3 and McCoy completed 65% of passes for 3300 yards, 22 TDs, 18 INTs. Is this a valid defense of Ewers looking like shit this year in spite of having Worthy, Bijan, et al.? VY, Colt, Sam (limiting just to unquestionably good UT QBs this century) may not have dominated as freshmen, but they made plenty “wow” statement plays. What is Quinn’s statement, two or three first quarter completions against Bama? I am not rooting against Ewers, but I wouldn’t bet a dollar that he’ll lead us to the CFP. In high school he had unparalleled arm talent, but I never saw him find and throw to a second read. He often had wide open WRs as well. His technique is poor, and Sark’s Monday pressers and game decisions (never pulling him) make you wonder if Sark realizes it or is trying to do anything to fix it.
  11. I bought a ton of shit planning to take half of it back. One of the white WS Champs t-shirts was printed with the words at least 30 degrees off horizontal, and not by design. I bought all three color combos of the 59fifty hat in the same size, and it was like the Goldilocks of sizing.
  12. No shit. All he needs is Bama level talent at the other 10 positions and then he will start looking serviceably mediocre instead of mashed dog turds. For the past 12 years, I flip through CUSA, MAC, AAC, whatever games on odd nights of the week and see gutsy, passionate former 2 or 3 star QBs balling out and wonder why the fuck we can’t find one of these guys (in parallel) while we fuck around after 5 star drama boys and/or guys that play like 8th graders. Does Texas give shitty QBs too much time before writing them off and moving to the next man? If dudes have it, they usually show a lot of signs early mixed in with mistakes. VY, Colt, and Sam all showed more than a flash or two as freshmen. Even David Ash and Shane Buechele showed a lot more than we’ve seen from Ewers.
  13. ALT2 pay homage to the rainbows but stops too short and will be one of those uniforms that people laugh at in 10-20 years. Just bring back the most glorious uni’s in baseball history as ALT2 for Sundays and to get a couple playoff games.
  14. I have enjoyed the shit out of this, almost as much as Mandalorian. The only reason I’m pro-fast pace is because Disney has predetermined there will only be 24 episodes. I hope they cram as much as they can into the 24. Almost every scene with Mon Mothma, Luthen, Andor, and Saw have been awesome. They could clips 50% off every seen with the nazi lady or the emo ex-IPA boy living on his mom’s couch and eating fruit loops in blue milk and still convey what they need to the audience.
  15. The show already has some slow stretches, which do add some plot or suspense and you can’t be 100% pedal to the floor for all 45 minutes. I assumed the old lady’s death could have been emotional, but the value wasn’t worth the screen time it would take and could be accomplished by showing the body being hauled off and the droid being all emo.

    F cancer.

Best of luck to Big Mac.
  17. This. Oakland, Carolina, Detroit, and Seattle are in the top 10 and could all be looking QB. The Texans OL and WR are trash and none of the QBs are even close “sure things.” If they could get one of these teams to trade up to #1 to get their preferred QB, I’d gladly accept the additional draft capital. Detroit and Seattle both have two firsts this year. Hell GB or Indy could want to trade up and give you a shit load of extra picks. Houston needs to acquire as many first and second round picks as possible, stop drafting players with injury issues, and stay away from QBs with a decent chance of busting.
  18. In various years this century, the best rated QBs were David Carr, Brady Quinn, Jamarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez, Dwayne Haskins, Blake Bortles, Mayfield/Sam Darnold, Malik Willis/Kenny Pickett, etc. If a QB has just as good chance of being below average as he does being great, why blow a top 3 pick on him? Reaching for QBs is how bad teams stay bad.
  19. Every year NFL “experts” say the teams at the top of the draft that need or kinda need a QB must take whoever they have rated QB1, even if the top QB that year wouldn’t even be a first (or even second) round pick in other drafts. I really hope the Texans do not spend their own pick on a QB this year. Bryce Young is small, which by itself is forgivable to reasonable people, but despite being surrounded by first round talent at OL/WR/RB, he doesn’t put up play station stats, doesn’t always put up good points (could mostly be BoB’s fault), lost twice already (almost to Texas too). He may be good in the NFL, but I wouldn’t burn a top 3 pick to find out. Basically the same for Stroud, who throws to wide open first round WRs, almost never even looks at a second read, and refused to run with the ball until a couple weeks ago because all the draft experts were dogging him for it. He might be better than the last 5 or 10 Ohio State busts, but I wouldn’t gamble a top 3 pick to find out. The Kentucky QB fucking sucks. His stats have been dog shit, they struggle against mediocre teams and get their ass kicked by hood teams. I watched the second half of their game yesterday vs Vandy and he blew goat ass. Tennessee QB will be 26 next year and isn’t worth a first round pick anyway. If these guys slide and they can get Young or Stroud with the Browns pick, so be it. They need a bad ass stud with their top 3. Through half a season it looks like Caserio was wrong and the world was right about Sauce vs Stingley; and they should’ve drafted someone at #13 who contributes more than aggy guard has so far.
  20. Please stop with Patterson talk. He’s older and fatter than ever (possibly sweatier too), and his replacement is undefeated in year 1. Maybe if it was 2010 or 2015. In about 3 weeks.
  21. Sometimes physically talented QBs are also stupid and get told to throw to their first read or else throw it away, and they still can’t follow those instructions.
