  1. The Clippers are currently 1.5 games above us getting the #10 pick 😳
  2. They think they’re entitled to 3 first rounders for their #1 in a year where the draft class seems mediocre at most positions.
  3. Yeah, the intentional tank is over. Our pick will likely go to OKC. Hopefully the Brooklyn implosion starts next season when we get their pick.
  4. “My heroes have always been dog fighters and sexual assaulters…”
  5. I do not understand the poor shooting of Ben Simmons, Russell Westbrook, et al. They have access to the greatest coaches and facilities on the planet. If my only job was playing basketball, at $40m per year no less, I’d be shooting 200 3’s a morning and get my unguarded 3pt % up around 70%. How is possible they are this bad?
  6. Hey buddy, didn’t we all fall in love with Star Wars by rooting for the Jedi and wanting to play light sabers with our friends? By 1983 the only badass Jedi stuff we saw from Luke was pwning Jabba the Hutt’s crew at the palace and on the barge. Since 1983 the only screen time we got of Luke was in TLJ where Rian pussed him into a bitter quitter. Sure we could all use our imaginations to connect dots or read non-canon books, but it’s a lot more entertaining seeing important bits of Luke’s life (or Vader/Anakin or any important characters). The end of Mando S2 finale was awesome. I was a bit confused about Luke’s hardline mentality towards Grogu given his and his father’s histories. I may be in the minority but I’d still like to see more Luke on screen before Mark Hammill keels over, especially if it’s Luke vs. some of the junk in BOBF or the Filoni fluff building episodes in Mando or whatever crap he’s throwing out in this new season of Bad Batch.
  7. I’d be psyched if they got Roschon in the third round. If they draft another aggy, they deserve to keep losing. In a perfect scenario, the board falls with Young/Stroud at #2 and the third DL/top OT/top CB at 12; or the top DL at 2 and best player available or Levis (who will likely be gone) at 12. Sounds like the top end of this class of WRs is weak compared to most years, and none are worth the #12 pick. They’d be damn lucky if Jalin Hyatt or Smith-Njigba fell to them at #33; then Roschon and best player available (hopefully OL or DL) with the two third round picks.
  8. You have to take off your burnt orange glasses and put on your battle red deep steel blue glasses for a minute. Bijan could be a top 5 player in the draft, but there’s two issues: 1. As you said, Texans need help everywhere. They seem to have a decent RB in Pierce. Does a second good RB help them more the top WR of this class or a good DE? 2. Teams don’t draft RBs that high anymore. The only one in the top 15 picks the past several years was Saquon Barkley, and many think it was a mistake in retrospect to take him at #2 based on what he hasn’t contributed to the NYG winning games. If they really wanted Bijan for some reason, they should trade back from 12 to 19-21 range (before Philly/Buffalo/Dallas range) and get an extra pick or two.
  9. She said Glen High School, then she said the “masturbating in the hallways” about 8 times while awkwardly looking at the camera like Jim Halpert.
  10. I think Omega is going to get her period soon and Troop 99 is going to have to deal with the emotional ramifications of that.
  11. “They were central to a stupid episode of Rebels, only to be called back in the finale to fuck up Grand Admiral Thrawn’s shit over Lothal.”
  12. I am the unappreciative fanboy who wants as much payoff and action as possible in every episode. I’m sure the space whales, IG-11 droid, pirates, and Bo Katan’s Mandalorian deserters will all come back into play, but after waiting over two years and knowing we only get 8 episodes, I vomit at Dave Filoni giving us only 30 minutes of what should be background reading before the main event. Give us 8 real episodes not 6-7 of build up and only 1-2 of “holy shit!”
  13. I manage a lot of international manufacturing assets for medical devices and healthcare products. Chinese labor (particularly in the biggest cities) is more expensive than many other countries. Unbelievably, Eastern Europe (Romania, Hungary, Poland) are cheaper than China and Japan. The cheapest labor is Malaysia and Thailand, followed by India. Central America is someone in the middle and I’ve been encouraged at how many upper executives have become open to paying 1-2% more and going to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Honduras because there is peace of mind from not being further invested in China. Stronger economies in those countries also give the USA indirect benefits in how we support them (or don’t), immigration, etc. [Stereotype on] On the technical side, most project calls or bid proposal meetings I have with Central America makes me feel like they want to be your partner and a resource as you grow together. Most calls I have with China make me feel like they just want our cash and don’t give a shit about anything else, while there are five guys off-camera taking notes and ready to rip us off.
  14. I don’t know what the line is for Eagles wins next year, but has there ever been a better under play? They had a soft schedule in 2022, won a lot of close games that could’ve gone either way, lost both coordinators, and will be playing the other division winners in 2023.
  15. What will satisfy as a smoking gun? The fact the patient zero picked it up across the street from the Chinese government’s research facility on viral gain of function? Do you require video of research and (accidental or intentional) release, PDFs of their plans to do it, witness testimonies, and a signed affidavit from the scientists? Why do so many default to “Chinese government had nothing to do with this”? I’ve been 80-20 towards it came from Wuhan lab based on circumstances but open to contrary data. If there was an entity I was going to die on a hill blindly defending its innocence, it would not be the Chinese government.
  16. The poker game at the top will be interesting, especially if most teams needing QB are as skeptical of this crop as us amateurs. Does Indy really like one QB enough to move up from #4 at the cost of next year’s first rounder, and possibly a second rounder? If the Colts stand firm, would Chicago trade out of the top 6 with Vegas or Carolina and miss out on Carter or Anderson and maybe even the third DL and top DB? I doubt it unless it was a King’s ransom. The Bears could end up going Carter/Anderson, Houston takes their top QB, Arizona either takes the leftover of Carter/Anderson or trades with someone who wants to jump in front of Indy. Indy could end up with their top rated QB at #4 without having to give up anything. At worst they would be getting either Anderson or Carter, and I don’t think Young or Stroud are worth Carter/Anderson + second round pick + 2024 first round pick. If Caserio gives up anything more than a 5th rounder to move up to #1, he should be fired and castrated immediately. He could have kept Lovie from winning the final game by deactivating any player with a pulse. The #2 pick is on him.
  17. DE pass rusher has been a highly rated and highly paid position forever, but they say if you have an amazing DT that can get upfield and put pressure on the QB’s face it’s even more disruptive to the offense. I think about Reggie White and JJ Watt before they moved outside, Aaron Donald, John Randle, Warren Sapp, etc. I think this is why so many have Carter rated above Anderson. If Chicago trades down to fuck us on Bryce Young (especially if it is to Indy at #4), I think we should pick the best player (either Carter or Anderson) and also fuck Chicago in the process. Or trade down if another team is stupid enough to give up extra picks to get CJ Stroud (or Anderson/Carter).
  18. JSN was either hurt all year or quit on his team in 2022, depending on what you believe. Either would be justification for teams to drop him on their boards (probably not second round, but who knows). The teams have tape of him putting up stats against Big10 secondaries when he was college WR3 and defenses were focused on stopping Stroud, Wilson, and Olave. Can an NFL team expect him to dominate against NFL DBs when he is WR1?
  19. Richardson and Hooker were both very inaccurate in pass friendly college offenses (don’t quote completion percentages that get bumped by WR screens or wide open receivers. This is about over or under throwing open guys). Plus Hooker is older and blew out his knee. Richardson looked worse the more he played. Rod Smart up there is shitting on Levis but I don’t know how you can properly evaluate him. When he had a better OC and OL, he played very well and led UK to a bunch of wins. When he got a new OC and underclassmen OL in 2022, he didn’t play as well (but didn’t play bad either). Is it fair to say he sucks because he didn’t have the success of Young or Stroud when he clearly didn’t have the same supporting cast? If Bryce Young had a twin that played for UK last year, would he have put up the same stats and wins as Bama Bryce? None of this is to say Levis will be good, but day 3 draft pick? Come on.
  20. I’ve long thought they should run an ad banner across the bottom like they do in soccer, then have fewer commercials per break and/or fewer tv timeouts. That will shave 15-30 minutes off each game.
  21. Feel free to gotcha because I’m ignorant. Roughly 70% of investments were non-retirement. We made some cash off selling a home in 2021 and wanted beat inflation and hopefully make some money with the BRRRRR and TINA YOLO of 2020 & 2021. It wasn’t a strictly long term for us either, because we wanted flexibility to jump back in on good value real estate. EPICFAIL on the market timing (Q4 2021 entry). The portfolio was fairly aggressive, mostly stocks with eye on retirement 25+ years out. My investment manager calls me a pussy every time I try to go conservative when the market bounces up on a bear rally. This last round, treasury yields and money market rates are so high it was hard to argue against, but we still only moved half (about ~37% of total invested assets) to catch the 4.25+% as a hedge for further market decline in 2023. I could easily be talked into moving it all though to ride through the recession and fallout risks and jump back in in 2024.
  22. Let any surly rockets fan who would not get wasted at a Mardi Gras party, and babble about Victor being our only hope, cast the first stone.
  23. About a week ago I moved half our non-401k/IRA money into money markets and similar vehicles getting around 4.25%. Doesn’t seem like our boy Powell is dropping rates any time soon, and if he does then we will all be throwing money in and TINA’ing it up like it was 2020. Seemed like a good hedge with the other half in a tactical moderate to aggressive portfolio, but I’ve been terrible with my investment timings so may the odds be in yalls favor.
