  1. Regarding the whole backpack thing. If I’m in a godforsaken situation where I have to fly southwest, my understanding is it’s the space under the seat in front of yours is where you are supposed to place your stuff (hence the front row has no storage..at least that’s what a stewardess and a bitchy passenger told me years ago) If I place something there, it takes up room for my feet/legs. I also always only take one carryon on the the plane so I feel it’s appropriate to take out what I am going to use (this is generally done before I board) and put my backpack/bag in the overhead. If someone asked me to put it under the seat in front of me, I would say no too. What’s the etiquette on that?
  2. Bummer. Houston native here too and I would vary rarely eat there but when you get that itch, there's not much that will scratch it. What are some good hot dog places here? I think there used to be a trailer on 620 but it either caught fire or shut down.
  3. This is fantastic. Everytime I see it I want a James Coney Island. Do we have something similar in Austin?
  4. As far as actual stories, it was my anniversary, I was cooking dinner but wanted carrot cake from a place I liked. Jumped in my car I pretty much only used for the track. Make a spirited right on a light about to turn red and stepped on the gas. Cop pulls me over, walks up and asks if I was winning the race and does the license and insurance thing. I had no insurance card in the car. Then he noticed my inspection and registration were almost two years out of date. He asked where I was going and doing so I told him. Then he asked about the registration and inspection and I told him this is mainly a track car and pointed where you could see the non dusty part of my doors where my numbers go. He said, well, I had to pull you over because after you took that right the car beside me looked at me and pointed at you. But, you are free to go. Pretty cool guy. That could have been 5 or 6 tickets. /CSB
  5. Honesty, respectfulness, being nice and the CHL doesn’t hurt I don’t think. Fortunately, I don’t get pulled over much anymore but used to be a pretty frequently experience (not related to username) and would not get a ticket way more than I did. I hate to say this but I don’t think it hurts to be a white dude driving nice cars either. I always heard driving a beater in lake way/bee cave and being a minority is a real good way to get pulled over. No CR.
  6. Bring lots of balls. Then again, I’m an 18.
  7. I do a lot of business with people from Chicago and hard to impress them with a dining experience. This is my go to place and has never failed.
  8. I'll be amazed if this only costs 8. I had to replace one in a SAN back in 2003ish and it cost that much back then. Sucks.
  9. agreed. I meant can really throw on your server but appreciated the offer. Think aws will work. Thanks again.
  10. Thanks for the info and offer. The data is loaded with HIPAA stuff so can't really do that. I am checking out aws.
  11. Anyone know of a good/reliable/secure site to transfer a bunch of data to someone who on the other side who is less technically savvy than me. Ideally just wanted them to have a link they could click an open or download. This is something I routinely do so didn't really want a long term subscription. Thanks for any help.
  12. Coke is the right answer. But, at least you didn’t say pop.
  13. This sounds like bs news. Last I heard from two credible local realtors, he bought a 38m place on lake Austin. He may also have this place for convenience but it’s not his primary residence.
  14. No CR. The best, and worst, part of this country is that this man’s vote counts the same as mine. That being said, God bless America and I wouldn’t live anywhere else…except maybe Cabo.
  15. Round 1 for the 4th weekend is in the books. Have the remaining beef ribs and pork ribs going on tomorrow. HEB was open: Got some toys: Watched Franklin's Master class yesterday (highly recommend) so prepped (I have only briefly met him before but he comes across as a really cool guy in the class): Apparently fire and constant temps are important...this part was a bitch on the smoker but got better throughout the day since the thermometer was constantly bitching. While the pit was going, might was well have some lunch: Before wrap: Threw these on too while the pit was going for dinner (I screwed up the bark when moving them from one shelf to another after I wrapped the brisket but didn't seem to matter): Dinner, did not suck: This bad boy is taking a nap and can't wait to open it up. I have cooked a lot of briskets that I thought were pretty good but never spent the amount of time/energy as this one: Kinda bummed that I have to chill this and reheat before eating but I didn't want to stay up all night tonight cooking for tomorrow.
  16. Not big enough unless she comes with a ship, jet and is ok with an open marriage.
  17. Good God, I just googled her and she's hideous. Aren't rich people supposed to be hot?
  18. I get it. Not the same category but got a submariner at 25 and only took it off for wakeboarding until about 30. That watch was beat to shit. Finally retired it, got it refurbished (which I think cost more than the watch did originally). Now it just sits and spins waiting for when little racer is old enough. /CSB
  19. From what I heard, it's the same family that owns HSB that did that and it's staying. Looking forward to seeing it.
  20. That's kinda what I mean. I am not going to wear it to go dig ditches or anything. But, without trying to sound like a pompous dick, it's not the same as my others. My dumbass was wearing another IWC that has a braided band that I didn't think about taking off before I started changing some brake pads, nicked the band and had to replace it. Hah, pretty sure anyone that has seen me post in the car fanatic thread knows I like Porsche's. But, I did slip that in there to send to my watch guy.
  21. Worked a lot lately so decided to reward myself when I was bored last night so texted my watch dude and picked this up this morning. Love it for an every day, not flashy and don't care if you beat it up kinda watch.
  22. And she was reading it which means she had time to prep. And even more, she was going through it like she was on coke and even after asking to slow down, she still read at the same speed. All that said, it's her money, she earned it, she should be able to Amy Winehouse it if she wants.
