  1. I don't want to get too far over my skis here but, I'm confident in saying, had you taken me you would have definitely finished 1 in class and top 3 overall. I hope you learn from this mistake and don't repeat it. #crew2023!
  2. I grew up in corpus which is a windy place and I remember many many times breaking the boat. Sunfish boom, sunfish halyard cleat, laser mast, laser mast step rips out of deck, j/24 rudder, j/24 boom, j/22 rudder, etc. it got to the point where about 1/3 of the way through my excuse laden story my dad would just cut me off and say “yeah, yeah, yeah, you broke the boat, dnf.” He was making a valuable point - it wasn’t the boat’s fault that I didn’t grab a trophy. And…I fucking told you so. See post on previous page where I asked “what does “big storm coming,” mode look like? Reefs or small jib? Some of those storms can get up in the wind velocity range. Do you prep for bare pole and just ride it out or always racing?” so, since I have such a great sense of foretelling, how do I get on the boat for 2023 - the year of glorious victory?
  3. I’ve never had much success with that excuse. I usually resort to dishonesty thinking that any story, even a bull shit story, has to be better than “I was high.”
  4. WTF? DNF?
  5. 4S. Had dinner at Cap Juluca (Cips) and Quintessence. Wife and kids all agreed that each hotel had pros and cons but 4S was a pretty complete package.
  6. Just back from a week in Anguilla. Awesome place. Awesome hotels. Awesome people. Solid 20 degrees cooler than Texas is right now.
  7. Yep. Ball bearings. So G650 is going to race up a lake and travel 290 miles by sailboat. This is a huge sailing race that will get coverage in magazines and press. People travel from far off to participate and weird things happen. People win. People die (rarely). And I understand they party hard at the end. It may be hot and slow with very little wind or windy, foggy. Who knows? He’s taking a variety of sails to be prepared to haul ass in all conditions. He’s not taking a bunch of extraneous shit because weight is slow. Water, food and a small bag. History tells us some big ass storms roll across that lake and sometimes you have to decide “we racin, or we survivin’?” He says “we ain’t takin’ the sails down no matter what.” That’s because he’s got a lot of skill and can sail through almost anything.
  8. Today I’m renting a right side drive jeep in a left side drive country. Should be interesting.
  9. Looking good. Questions - what is the sail inventory like for this race? Main, jib, 3 kites? Do you hipsters switch through jibs anymore or is it all non-overlapping? 1 jib and 1 big ass code zero? what is the pack out per crew member? 1 small ass dry bag and it better weigh less than 10 pounds? Do you haul all your water or try to use the lake water? what does “big storm coming,” mode look like? Reefs or small jib? Some of those storms can get up in the wind velocity range. Do you prep for bare pole and just ride it out or always racing? Give it hell.
  10. In the Pat Green song SONGS ABOUT TEXAS he sings this stanza at the end ”Sing me one more song about those dusty plains. Them honkytonk angels and their lonely bee hive pain I wish I was stowed away on a fast movin train Im a going home.” Now, I know my way around honkytonk angels, but what the hell is lonely bee hive pain?
  11. I’ve never been a whiny bitch rageaholic loudmouth. At least I don’t think I have. Question - it seems like a large waste of energy and distraction. Anyone have any experience with this? Dude had his serve rolling and was on the path to victory but… headcase. It’s like he needs cheech from tin cup to take him out and get drunk or something.
  12. That woman is thinking … “you should add some japs (no racist) and pick up that taco like an adult and eat it instead of poking at it with that fork like some sort of weight watchers reject.” I can see it in her ojos.
  13. Well that would truly be a metaphysical miracle, gringo, considering the fact that El Moderno has been closed for a decade. Like some weird twist on The Shining with Carta Blanca.
  14. Well, maybe we’ll just have to agree to disagree but, I’ll leave you with this. I’m on team Texas Chili Parlor and you’re on team TGIFridays. When Guy Clark sings one day “Well I wish I was in Norman… at TGIFridays,” I’ll briefly reconsider my position. When that day arrives you’ll still be wrong.
  15. This is like playing cards with my brothers kids or something. I’m embarrassed that I have to spell all this out. This works three ways. THREE WAYS assholes. 1. If you like the individual nacho bite approach, what you really like (but are ignorant of) is a cooked chalupa cut into 4-6 pieces by a large knife. I call these pieces “nachos” (each individually a “nacho”). Build the chalupa, cook the chalupa, cut the chalupa. Maybe sprinkle on some peppers or pico at the end. Serve sour cream and guacamole on the side. Somewhere there exists a man named Ignacio and this product is his original creation. 2. If you like the pile of chips with a pile of stuff on top of it, what you really like is a lazy chef who probably learned to cook in the navy or Waffle House. It’s his (or her or they/them) “Mexican” twist on “shit on a shingle.” Edible yes - even tasty, but pretty much a pain in the ass to eat as stated by previous posters. Often times you get cold ass soggy chips on the bottom. This person should stick to serving seven layer dip or queso with chips. Maybe make a casserole. Their product is not nachos. It does share the same ingredients. 3. Oklahomans and the slow witted who cant figure out number 1 so they take chips and create individual nachos, 1 at a time. I applaud these people for aiming at excellence but ultimately they are ignorant and destined for failure and humiliation. Now carry on.
  16. All these Comic book themed movies are contributing to the downfall of humanity. Batman, Thor… Yes, life can be hard but no superhero is going to come save anything and, if one did, he would just get greedy, arrogant and would end up being on the damned Kardashian show. Inevitable letdown. Captain American can FO too.
  17. Wind buffeting and jet wash coming off the back off a Porsche going 195 seems like it could be an issue. i guess the good news is at 189 you won’t be in a hospital bed complaining about broken bones and road rash. Just put the wet pieces in a body bag and the rest in a dumpster.
  18. Sounds like monkey pox.
  19. Question for motorcylists on this board. What is the smallest thing that could go wrong for bike guy that would be fatal? Hit a large bug like a cicada? Rock flies up from porsche? Random sparrow swoops down and causes you to flinch? Obviously a front tire flat or something that causes rear wheel to lock up probably does you in but think small. What is the smallest thing? Also, winding down from 189, you don't use the brakes right? Just ease off the gas and engine brake on down until what? 100?
  20. Salet needs more ranch but other than that this is pitch perfect. Got all the food groups covered.
  21. I can vouch for the Miller’s chicken fried steak breakfast. You won’t want to do much after that.
  22. Didn’t you guys try to lighten the crew load a few years back in this race? Let’s not try that again. Anything big or real fast signed up this year? Do the Devos folks still have a race boat?
  23. You got room for 1 more? I won’t fuck anything up - promise.
  24. Leaving early July to travel far away from this hot state. Country requiring us to get NAA or PCR covid tests. Flying out of DFW. Any suggestions on where we should schedule that and how quickly we can get results?
