  1. Tommy's selling used cars, Nancy's fixing hair
  2. Dittos to what Scraps said about already being posted, but haven't seen these: Deep down in Louisiana, close to New Orleans, way back up in the woods among the evergreens Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin for a train, feelin near as faded as my jeans Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone, everything that I've got is just what I've got on All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey I knew a man, Bojangles and he'd dance for you Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world
  3. I don't recall that. I recall LA not giving a frog's fat ass about having the NFL come back. The NFL was batshit crazy to get a team back in LA, cause (1) they didn't want major cities to figure out they didn't need a team to be considered a major city, and (2) there are a lot of televisions in LA. The reason the Houston Texans exist is because when the NFL put out a call for proposals back in the late 90s, they thought it would be a slam dunk for LA, but they couldn't find anyone in LA that cared enough to put together a decent bid.
  4. I was never an NFL fan. I was a Cowboys fan. Jerry cured me of that, and Roger Goodell finished it off.
  5. Does anyone think Alabama would get a bowl ban for this kind of infraction?
  6. I read a some of it, and just kept getting this vibe that the guy who wrote it was a self-absorbed asshole that was in love with the smell of his own farts, but that he was also deeply insecure that he might have an opinion that won't fit with what the groupthink will be next week. Then I noticed the site was for New York magazine. Explained everything. As with most lists, this one said more about the author than the movies.
  7. If you're talking about Mizzery not releasing her transcripts, it's standard practice that transcripts are held if a student has an unpaid balance. UT threatened to hold my transcripts over a library fine. Looking through this, first of all, everyone should have some pity. Poor girl was starving to death. I have suspicions based on what's been posted in this thread of what went down.
  8. Hey, if you ride your motorcycle to the Twin Peaks in Waco, you get free shots.
  9. In his book, Time Enough to Win, Roger Staubach disclosed that he took a baseline neurological test prior to his career and repeated it after every season. The first time the test came back with an indication of a decline, he retired. He said the decline was a tiny decline in his twitch reaction. He did this on his own, and not with the team. He's approaching 77 now and still appears mentally sound. Doing baseline and annual neurological testing on athletes would lead to shorter careers and longer lives. It's not a cure all, as some damage won't show up until years later, but athletes will hide symptoms. When a decline shows up, retirement should be mandatory.
  10. Lotta things hidden under Town Lake.
  11. I will say one thing for your argument. Guys like Montana, Staubach, Bradshaw, and Meredith played in an era where you could absolutely murder a quarterback. None of them could play as long as Brady because they were used up. I think Bradshaw, when he was a rookie, got four teeth knocked out during a game and didn't come out. It's also the reason receivers can act like jerks today, taunting dbacks. During the Ronnie Lott, Jack Tatum era, they pull that shit and the next series they're leaving the field on a stretcher. Edit: football is still plenty tough. Players continue to take hits that would kill the average person. You just don't see things like runners having to jump over the bench to keep from getting hit out of bounds anymore.
  12. That's why they tore it down.
  13. Sounds like he's having a helluva time physically: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2016/02/04/joe-montana-pain-physical-ailment/79852754/
  14. Didn't see Ghostbusters 2020, but have seen Hemsworth in all the Thor movies. He's a good comedic actor. The writers in the Marvel series morphed the character some to accommodate those skills. I think it may be tougher for a stand up comic to act than for an actor with good timing to do a comedy role. I know Dangerfield had a tough time in Caddyshack, cause he had trouble adapting to not getting laughs. I think they made so many of his scenes in front of a crowd so he could get a reaction during the take.
  15. You're just ovary acting.
  16. Reminds me of WNBA players complaining they don't get paid like the NBA. WNBA games don't make money. Her Ghostbusters movie lost money. Bill Murray movies make money. Leslie Jones movies lose money.
  17. That's true. There aren't 32 starting quality QBs. Hell, there weren't 26 back in 1972. That's why they're grabbing third round level talent in the first round and guys like Kingsbury are getting HC jobs.
  18. Just the numbers make it harder now. In 1959, there were twelve NFL teams (AFL didn't exist) and one playoff game. In 1972, there were 26 total teams. Brady's run has been during an era of 32 NFL teams. With 12 teams, a team randomly has an 8.3% chance of going to the championship. With 26, the chance falls to 3.8% and with 32, 3.1%. The Patriots are the only dynasty during the 32 team era (Panthers, Jaguars, Ravens, and Texans were all added.) There's one champion each year, so the more teams, the more difficult it is to win. As to your other argument, I have to disagree. The NFL has made it progressively harder to be successful year after year. What makes Brady the GOAT is the number of years he's been great. Most other QBs that have played to 40 spent a lot of their careers as backups. Brady's been a starter since his second year in the league. He's won his five Super Bowls over a fifteen year period. Montana is second in this, winning his four Super Bowls over a nine year period. Bradshaw won his four over a six year period.
  19. Others have given good answers on Montana, but I think his biggest attribute was his attitude. Guy had ice water in his veins. He never got shook up. On the drive that won the Super Bowl against the Bengals, one of the linemen said they were all in the huddle at the start of the drive, nervous, and Montana looked up and said, "Hey, there's John Candy." He said they all looked over and John Candy was standing on the sidelines watching. Then he drove them the length of the field and threw the winning touchdown.
  20. Okay, saw Infinity War and Solo. So, I've seen two of them. Infinity War was well done, and they've done a good job of juggling all the characters.
  21. I hear you, but the non-call is not a reviewable play. Was it a bad call? Yes. Would the Saints have won if it had been correctly called? Yes. But there's no way you want to open up the Pandora's box of what would happen if coaches could issue challenges because a penalty wasn't called. Get off my lawn and all that, but high school is more enjoyable in a lot of ways because there's no replay.
  22. May be a first for me. I have not seen any of the movies nominated in any category. OTOH, I'm pretty much super heroed out, and only movies I saw last year were when wife dragged me to Last Jedi and Solo.
