  1. Random note: As has been the case for years, I really appreciate Larry T Spider’s insight and info on all education related threads. Thanks for all your posts over the years man.
  2. Anyone get the Surly MTB mafia invite to Wiler’s in-laws’ condo yet?
  3. I used to hate BK, he always came across as that type of hard core cynical that sounds ridiculous coming from young people without much life experience. But I will say that in the last few years he has come around and I enjoy most of his takes these days. Rod B keeps me entertained because I like his football knowledge and he shares plenty of stories from his playing days. Every single other afternoon guy on that radio station annoys the fuck out of me. I don’t really know the difference between Trey, Chad, and whatever the third guys name is. They all sound alike to me and I don’t like any of them.
  4. That guy is a youtuber. Parady news is his schtick. He has an appearance in the Asshole Delaying Flights thread portraying the flight attendant who ducktaped a unruly asshole to the seat.
  5. Fix names are amusing. Kansas City has SPICY BARBQ RIBBS all on one approach. But the best is IAH with one of the arrivals having MILLR LIITE ADVIL or something like that. After LeBron left Cleveland the first time the local approach controllers changed the pronunciation of LBRON intersection to “La Baron”.
  6. ^^^ Props for knowing the LYNDI and the DCA River Visual That parking garage in SAN on short final is the reason that approach is a 3.5° path instead of 3.0. It doesn’t seem like half a degree steeper would be significant but it’s definitely noticeable. The DCA River Visual is great but I definitely make sure I start that leg with a full cup of coffee. It was better from the left seat when the FO was flying so you could steal a moment to check out the mall from 500’. The best airplane viewing area in the country is in a park directly under short final on runway 19 in DCA. The Mount Vernon running trail along the Potomac goes through there. The planes roll out to final at 250 feet directly over the park. I don’t have airplanes on my pillowcases or anything but when I’m running that trail and they’re landing south I’ll usually stop to watch one or two.
  7. I don't disagree with the reasoning but the SEC sure as hell isn't about to treat Texas or OU like one of the biggest names in the conference all of a sudden. We're going to be shoe-horned into whatever pod or division best suits the legacy schools.
  8. I appreciate everyone’s concern for my health but I wouldn’t mind y’all mixing in some vitamin C and zinc.
  9. Awesome! I hiked up Mt Fuji many years ago when I was in the Marine Corps and we did a month at Camp Fuji. Everyone had the same wooden stick you have with the brands burned in at each stop. I didn't buy a stick that day but I had them brand my leather wallet at the top tea house. Still have that wallet 25 years later!
  10. Golf shorts are what you want. I don't play golf but I wear Under Armour golf shorts a lot. They are comfy enough to get active in, made of athletic materi, but still normal enough to go to a patio restaurant in and not be the guy wearing gym shorts. One step further toward athletic shorts is Under Armour quick-pocket 9" shorts. The quick pocket is a waistband pocket that'll hold your phone horizontal in the front of the waistband where it won't bounce around.
  11. That’s the only concern I have with a virtual option. Do as much virtual as you want but don’t let it interfere with the education of those in the classroom. That’s the only reason one of my kids stayed home last year, his in-person option was nothing more than virtual from a random classroom. It was worthless.
  12. His voice is creepy as fuck. He might be the devil based on that alone.
  13. Got you. I rarely look at who actually posted something and I thought it was your mention originally. I’ll adjust the meter.
  14. It does indeed blow Subway away. It’s a solid sandwich and I like it. But there are nearly 2000 locations across America and it started in.... wait for it.... Jersey. Are you sure you aren’t thinking of Schlotzkys?
  15. The Jersey Mike’s comment was a joke right? That’s a national chain found in airports everywhere. It’s not a bad sandwich at all but it’s still just some good airport food.
  16. Find a small town near a small ski mountain that doesn’t draw as many tourists. Nedlerland/Eldora area is where I’ve got my eyes on for when my kids leave the house.
  17. Even with kids I wouldn't catch myself at a fucking Disney park. There are lakes and oceans and mountains and rivers and so many great cities in this world with real life cool, fun, beautiful, adventurous shit going on in them, even appropriate for young kids. And you're going to pick a fucking theme park with it's crowds, and never-ending gift shops and shitty food over that? And Epcot?! WTF is that? When people describe to me what Epcot is all about it sounds one step shy of Total Recall fake vacations. Like let's go to Mexico without having to interact with any real Mexicans. I hear there are some cool technology exhibits there, but I've never heard of any that would knock my kids socks off anymore than the local science museums in every town.
  18. Drive to Buena Vista or Salida Colorado. Do a 2 day rafting trip. Camp another day or two at one of a shiton of nearby lakes and catch trout all day. Spend a night or two in a hotel in town and eat well. Seriously, my sister talked me into doing another shitty summer family trip to the beach earlier this summer. Newsflash… unless you’re in college the beach sucks. The day long drive to anywhere cooler is always worth it.
  19. The flight attendants not doing anything is precisely what allowed you to sit there anyway regardless of what the supposed seat savers had to say about it. I don’t like it either, but that’s their stance on it. People can claim seat is saved but it’s only truly saved if you go along with it. Open seating means truly open seating. If you respectfully ignore the seat saver and sit there anyway you won’t be removed from the seat. It’s often worth moving on for the sake of civility but you don’t have to. Every seat is available regardless of what a passenger says about it. I wish they’d just let the FAs announce that there’s no seat saving. Not sure why they don’t but it comes from way above the FA pay grade.
  20. There is no policy for or against saving seats. Anyone is allowed to say a seat is saved and anyone else is allowed to sit there anyway. A FA may ask if you are willing to change seats to accommodate a family but you are well within you’re rights to say nah.
