  1. Glad you liked it. I saw Hamilton in KC in 2019.
  2. Right, MR is at 7 on Friday, all adults (3). Hadestown is 8pm on Saturday, and six is 2pm on Sunday. We will have a 4th friend (daughter’s college roommate) meeting us for Hadestown, other than that it’s just my wife, 23 yr old daughter, and me.
  3. Im gonna have cry when Steely Dan kicks it.
  4. Moulin Rouge is Friday Feb 17, Hadestown on Saturday night, then a matinee of Six on Sunday. Staying at Essex House.
  5. Not sure. I don’t know any of his coworkers.
  6. Came here to post that. Ay @ernesttbass is yours folded and put away?
  7. Hahaha im gonna send that to McCullers mom, I’ve known her for years.
  8. The guy at whose house I stay at during hurricane evacuations is the Sales VP at GT. He’s much more interested in sheriff’s departments with big budgets.
  9. From time to time people will show up in Beaumont meetings because they are afraid that they might run into someone they know in a Houston meeting. That’s always hilarious. Pride and ego vs. humility. Flip the coin and see which side I’m on today. My dad used to joke that he walked into his first AA meeting and saw his banker, lawyer, customers, suppliers, and investors, that’s when his life really began.
  10. Took on a new sponsee yesterday. Yesterday morning I attended the funeral of a friend’s 96-year-old dad. It was one of those funerals to which we should all aspire. Outstanding father, civic leader, businessman, philanthropist, poet, and philosopher. An overall success by most measures. The only blemish was that he and his late wife had been outstanding parents of the year and distinguished alumni at TAMU (come on, the Aggy war hymn as your funeral procession?) Anyway, as I was telling my new sponsee, one of my fears was I didn’t want my kids to remember me as a tragedy. “Dear old dad, such a troubled soul died drunk in a roadside ditch. So sad.” I was tired of being burdensome. That’s why my living amends are so necessary. Ego? Sure. Unhealthy? Not if my motivations are genuine. My dad might have been a no-good, dirty home-wrecking drunk for a while, but he made up for it in the 29 years he was sober and working a program. I’m optimistic that my life will follow a similar path. It’s the least I can do for my wife, her family, my kids and their families, and the rest of my friends and loved ones. Stop doing harm.
  11. Reading your posts is like looking into a mirror. You’re one of my favorite people here. Ultimately, I had to lose (almost) everything in the rebirth. Completely deconstructed and reassembled just a little bit better.
  12. 12 years ago last night I came close. 12 years ago today I woke up in the hospital expecting to be handcuffed to the bed. The best I can tell, you can’t take a BAC sample from someone unconscious and unable to provide consent. That was my last drunk, so far. Sober, safe, and sane and about to go to a Saturday morning meeting.
  13. My manager told me our company typically cuts outside salespeople last, and I did 241% last half (my first half in software). I’m still so new that I’m basically the Forrest Gump of AIOps. It doesn’t hurt that my flagship ARM offering is designed to optimize licensing and cut IT estate creep and cloud costs.
  14. House seats acquired for Six, Hadestown, and Moulin Rouge in Feb. I’ll check out all relevant threads, but does anyone have any new restaurant recommendations?
  15. My parents and grandparents started trusts, so at least I had to be of age before I started spending frivolously.
  16. I got detained by the feds in SW Louisiana for allegedly hunting a baited field. Opening day of south region dove season. It was back when ex-NFL linebacker Terry Schaunessy owned Hackberry Rod and Gun club, and he seeded the areas with goat weed 91 days before Sept 1 to avoid violating migratory bird laws. We were told in advance, even. “The feds got it out for me. Make sure you don’t shoot more than your limit; make sure your coolers have Gatorade only. Make sure your license looks right and keep it handy.” We shot over 400 of our 500 bird limit, and then a dozen federal game wardens appear. They rose from the field in ghillie suits, swooping from their ambush positions on four-wheelers. Then a helicopter landed, and even more agents stepped off the skids: all tactical, AR-15s, the whole show. Terry was pissed, and he wanted to kill the agent in command, and his client, VP of Trinity Industries (who had financed this weekend junket) wanted to kill him. They lined us up, took our birds, and sat there smirking with satisfaction until they began reading IDs. . . TX State senators, representatives, state judges, and a federal judge. Oh, and a bunch of us who happened to be loyal transit mix/Trinity industries customers. Mixing business with politics. They seemed confused, like they expected us to be contrite and guilty, not defiant and righteous. I was the youngest, so they picked me out and tried to get me to admit that I was told to admit I was hunting a baited field and that everyone else was guilty of the same. My reply was “hell man, we was waiting on you fuckers to show up.” It was getting close to dark thirty, but those guys had been hiding motionlessly in that Sept 1st heat since 5 am, daydreaming about a huge bust. 34 years later, the State representative’s son named his firstborn after my daddy. Dad had recently passed on, so it was very touching. I can’t wait til that kid gets older so I can tell him some stories about his own grandfather. I miss the way politics used to be. Back when the Texas dems had the power.
  17. From what I can tell, the 14 point guideline is to maximize accessibility for the other-abled.
  18. I wanna know which legislator’s wife likes drag shows, and why he hates her so much. Dade Phelan’s older brother and I (unknowingly, we were underage and thought it was a biker bar) walked into a gay bar one afternoon for a pitcher of beer and a game of pool. Not sure why I all of a sudden remembered that.
  19. This isn’t the existential crisis meme thread.
  20. I'm appalled. He used actual seagull shit to paint the white in the American flag, see how it drips onto trump’s suit shoulders?
  21. Can I just get the WSJ to abbreviate their alerts to “Musk announces latest bad decision” Haha just realized it’s Friday the 13th.
  22. Repped for use of MSO acronym. But they need something catchier, like GPON. “Gigantic producer of nastiness” caucus.
  23. Biden Administration - self-reported, returned immediately. Trump - “I handle document declassification the same way Jimmy Carter handles sin, if you think it, you did it!” Even if Dark Brandon was hiding incriminating shit on purpose and self reported like a teenager raiding a parents vodka bottle and adding water to hide the evidence. . .I’ll take the criminals that don’t fire people via social media. It would be really funny though, if those classified documents were nothing more than super enhanced photos of Hunter’s dong.
