  1. Heading into Houston this weekend for Father’s Day. Any decent stores on the northwest side of town? I plan on stopping at the Total Wine in Copperfield, but wasn’t sure if anything else was worth popping into in that area.
  2. The far right bottle is that Sweeten’s Cove bullshit that Peyton is shilling. From what I’ve heard it’s a $200+ drain pour. The one to the left of that is Michter’s 10. Can’t tell what the other two are.
  3. Cigar Blend is fantastic and almost impossible to find on the shelf. If you do see it you won’t pay retail. The only bottle I have came from a trade I made over the summer (for Weller Single Barrel, but I was on the 2 side of a 2-for-1). They come out with a few batches per year. Nancy Fraley is the blender and she does an amazing job with it. She also does Still Austin if I’m not mistaken.
  4. I’d have to imagine this won’t be available in TX as you can’t buy liquor at grocery stores?
  5. A buddy sent me a sample of Old Carter cask strength 13 year single barrel. It was like drinking unicorn tears. Too bad I’ve never seen any Old Carter in Texas. He also sent me a sample of Old Forrester 117, so that will be fun to try as well. I hear it’s much better than the OF 150 bottles that dropped last year.
  6. I’ve heard it’s underwhelming. I think $180 is still below secondary, but there are other hitter bottles to be had for $150. Bardstown Discovery 3 and 4, Woodford Batch Proof mentioned earlier fit this bill.
  7. My buddy actually found me the cask strength (just under 100 proof) Rebecca Creek 12 for $100, so I went with that instead. Apparently there were only 1400 bottles of the cask strength Rebecca Creek 12 so I’ll let y’all know how it goes.
  8. Saw some Rebecca Creek 12 at ACL in San Antonio for $92. That was a bit too high for me the pull the trigger. I didn’t mind taking a flyer at $75, but not willing to pay almost $20 markup.
  9. Total Wine? I tried their app but looks like they’re all out of stock in SA.
  10. Thanks for the recs on the FAE. Swung by Twins tonight and picked one up, along with a little unexpected surprise that was just sitting next to it on the shelf.
  11. If Garrison Bros single barrels are as good as they think they are, then why are there cases of these sitting readily available in every Total Wine, Specs, Twin Liquors, etc. across the state? You can find a single barrel of Garrison Bros as easily as you can find 1920 and we know 1920 is produced at a vastly higher rate.
  12. It is once you tack on $25 for shipping.
  13. It’s a creamy sauce with a bit of seasoning in there. Probably a ketchup/mayo blend base. Not sure I’d like it on a burger, but it kicks up the chicken sandwich really nicely. You can add it to any sandwich through the app.
  14. While not the Popeyes chicken sandwich, Whataburger’s spicy chicken sandwich is pretty solid. With mine like to go with pepper Jack cheese, grilled onions, pickles, jalapeños and Whatasauce. Nice change of pace when I’m not wanting a burger that day.
  15. Enjoying a nice pour of Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend (batch 24) and an Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro to celebrate being called back off of furlough after 11 months. This is a great cigar for under $6 a stick. Full of flavor that pairs well with a variety of higher proof pours. I highly recommend them.
  16. Glad I was able to get some! I’m a fan as well.
  17. John J Bowman Single Barrel. Should be $45-50. It’s distilled by Buffalo Trace, but aged in Virginia.
  18. C920 was the best of the bunch last year and they were all great (though A was a tad too hot).
  19. Prideful Goat batch 2 dropped in SA today. ACL downtown location only. $150.
  20. Aaron from Smoke Wagon joined the Bourbon Junkies on their livestream last night. He chatted with them for over two hours on a variety of topics. Great conversation for those Smoke Wagon fans out there.
  21. Dude averages more fouls per game than points. Trash is trash. Why Shaka even recruited him in the first place is a mystery. His “game” in no way fits the current basketball meta. If you’re not a good shooter you need to be an athletic slasher who can play the wing and get to the rim. Hamm is neither. The days of being a 4 and relying on a strong low post game is long gone, so why even recruit a player of his skill set?
  22. I know it’s Cali, but that’s wild. By current projections, the vaccine should be widely available to the public by the summer so how could they be so pessimistic about playing football in seven months?
