  1. Rahm knows how to put together a dining experience
  2. I am curious, not trying to be a dick, but what is the ceiling for bitcoin? I have never really been able to grasp the economic model that drives the valuation, other that it goes up because everybody wants some. Explain to me like I'm an idiot, what would be a good entry point and exit point for this as an investment. I get that it is an alternative to a fiat currency (US$) because those can get devalued by disaster, coup, cyber attack that locks up the banking system, etc.
  3. Japan government pension fund looking at crypto investing - this could be a sign of a top, if you remember when they bought into US real estate buying large properties in Hawaii and the western US (famously they purchased Pebble Beach, purchase in 1990 by Minuro Isutani, sold in 1992 to Sumitomo Bank sold the the current ownership group in 1999). Japanese investment has a history of chasing peak investments, or maybe creating them; not that this will be the case with crypto. But there is a cautionary tale in there. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/19/japan-pension-fund-explores-bitcoin-as-an-investment.html
  4. Some people are just going to disappear in China as they deal with this issue; unlike here where the likes of Dick Fund (Lehman), Hank Greenberg (AIG), Kathleen Corbet (Std & Poors) and many more just walked away with the millions (billions) that they had already made.
  5. I will sell you my IBRX for 1/2 of my cost, and even cheaper for my AMY - and you would still have plenty left over
  6. I have a suggestion for a huge improvement to Xwitter, I would like to screen what I see to only sports - actually I have sworn off X and it has been at least 6 months since I've been on, but I may log back in for March Madness. I don't want to see and political crap, or investing/finance crap, or what Egon has done or said; hell I might pay a $1 or 2 just to see what I want, not what other people like. OR should I just stay away from it, it had turned into a shit show with paid blue check marks and other Egonistic mistakes..
  7. so is he a millionaire or a billionaire - when did he start buying BRK stock, long enough ago that he has A shares, or just B shares like us poor folk?
  8. The SIL that put the trip together has us on a private excursion, which means smaller ship and not 300 of us. We did something like that in Nassau last year, snorkling, remote private beach, and looking at the turtles (can't swim with them anymore because a shark ate a tourist in 2022). We could move when we wanted and didn't have to snorkle with 100 people that were on the cruise sponsored excursion. A little more expensive, but worth it.
  9. I know that the Saudi PIF is "investing" hundreds of millions, really billions - what is the end game for that as an investment? Players are getting paid more, PGA Tour says they are committed to their Charity partners, are advertisers going to pay more for naming rights, or more in broadcast fees It isn't like the can get greens fees to go up because of this. I just don't see it as anything more than sportswashing; and PIF is looking at tennis too. Maybe the PGA board was making more than I can imagine, I know there were allegations of a ton of money not going players & charities. ( I know this probably belongs in the LIV thread - but that, like their tour is kinda dead)
  10. Following with interest - after going on our first cruise last year; a 3 day test cruise to the Bahamas out of Canaveral - it was okay), we joined in with my wife's family to to a 10 day Alaska cruise this summer. Holland America - rooms look okay, but they will be small; we upgraded to a aft veranda at the suggestion of the SIL who is putting it all together. The excursions seem pretty blah (we've been whale watching before, it's all just touristy crap), dining reviews seem to be decent and we aren't expecting 5 star meals (really not even 4 star), not sure what we will do all day on the sailing days, but I here you get a decent view of the coastline, sea and winged creatures and some blocks of ice. I am not a big drinker, but I am willing to try it out if it helps pass the time. I am afraid if this goes well it could become a regular thing, as both of our parents have passed and it is only things like this that we get together for bigger family gatherings. I think there are about 20 of on this boat, including some from our kids generation. Personally, I think I'd rather see more of the PNW and drive around, but I don't think you can really do that as easy with Alaska. Tips for an Alaska cruise are appreaciated - our group age range is 28-74, with most in their 50's-60's. Should I just spice it up by putting the upside down pineapple magnets on each of the groups door?
  11. I thought the main motivation for new model vs. new plane was time, that Boeing needed something to compete with the A320 (maybe the A320neo) and that it would take years longer to certify as a new plane rather than a new model. FAA bent right over and said yessir may I have another.
  12. Thanks for the wta link, we are going back to the PNW in July to visit our daughter (yeah no chance I am following the rules), and we are looking to spend a few days in North Cascade NP. Still looking to put together an itinerary, this will really help.
  13. Hey, quit putting CR posts in the inflation thread (and you didn't even predict an ice cream flavor)
  14. He beat everybody, two years in a row
  15. Playing through pain to win is amazing. The field should take notice, he can runaway from them when his game ofy on.
  16. 50 inches of ice sounds like a lot, my guess would be that things isn't moving for several weeks later than last year. Has it ever gone into June?
  17. Lot of information on Investopedia, they have basic explanations, and pages that discuss different types and aspects. Buying puts and calls is fairly straight forward, getting into Greeks, spreads, etc can get pretty technical. And selling options can expensive; you can only lose what you spend on buying them, but selling is a while different risk profile.
  18. Yeah - I wonder what he sees in her?
  19. IMO you shouldn't worry about the $100, this FF opportunity looks pretty solid. I may take a small position and see how it plays out, as I have some found money coming in that I found in the couch (aka Gern) that has to go somewhere.
  20. Jordan has about 90 minutes to make the cut, needs to get to -1, sitting at +1. C'mon Jordan, I want to see you play this weekend. Sincerely - everyone on this board
  21. whoa, whoa, whoa - this is actual due diligence and analysis. Super impressive, bud don't they adjust the options strike to take into account dividends paid during the term? I thought I had that happen with some COST calls I had a few years ago, it was awhile ago but that is in some dusty corner of my remaining memory. 22. I am starting to think that this Clark guy can play him some golf.
  23. little bit of both
  24. just to finish this story - Kuch goes +6 for the next 15 holes for a +2 for the day I just want to say you are welcome - I do take jinxing requests
