  1. 2023: $23mm Anonymous gift for Cal Golf. $10mm Rogers family commitment to rowing Just need a billionaire or two to step up for football
  2. Thanks - fixed it. The narrative is silly. Media fixated on stupid stats. Texas lost the CCG for myriad reasons. Texas won the other 3 games, so who cares? I guess some want to use it to portend doom.
  3. DFEI, Points for Clemson opponents. The only team with a top-50 DFEI that they scored more than 25 on was SMU. 14 of the points in the first quarter were TD drives of 33 and 28 yards.
  4. 3 of the 4. Only Aggy did we receive. Here is a summary of 3rd Q offense drives: Ark: FG, Punt UK: Punt, fumble, fumble returned for TD Aggy: Punt, Pick-6, Fumble UGA: Punt, Missed FG (TD was early in 4th - drive started late 3rd) Net actual points: for offense: -11. Defense in 3Q: Ark: Defense surrendered TD UK: defense held them to 0 Aggy: defense held to 0 UGA: TD + FG
  5. Herb Hand. Ha. Every fan base cheers when Herb Hand leaves their program. That's what we did. That's what the Auburn fans told us. That's what the Auburn fans told us that the Penn State fans told them.
  6. Thanks. I had forgotten both of those details about him, esp. the histrionics. I guess my original comment of "could have done worse" is true, "but not much" should be added. Damning with faint praise, I guess. "That seems like a good/great hire" never crossed my mind...
  7. The selection itself, or the way Gundy has been treated in the past week? Please elaborate, if you do not mind.
  8. Gundy could have done worse. DC for Petrino 3 years at Louisville. DC for Mullen 1 year at MSU DC for Mullen all 4 years at Florida. Was offered DC of Bengals in 2019, chose to stay w/ Mullen at UF. Was fired 9 games into the 2021 season. Mullen was fired 2 games later. 2022 Analyst for Saban. 2023/2024 - D Line coach for Saints.
  9. Sagarin predictor has been a decent proxy for setting initial lines. Using that and a 3-pt home-field benefit, Sagarin predicts (to the nearest 1/2 point) Texas: -11.5 UND: -11 tOSU: -7.5 PSU: -6 Texas and tOSU lines are reasonable, if you trust the predictor. PSU getting 2 more points because of shitty weather. UND derate makes little sense, other than (1) Mark Cuban dropping huge $$ on Indiana (doubt) or (2) uncertainty about how good either of these teams really are.
  10. Tomlin has beaten every NFL team except Pittsburgh. Some will argue he's had a hand in beating Pittsburgh in the past. He's 27-9-1 total against Cleveland, 6-5 in the past 5 years. Pittsburgh played Cleveland 3x in 2020 and lost 2x. Cleveland was 11-5 (Mayfield was the QB) and beat Pittsburgh 48-37 in Cleveland. That was the game where Roethlisberger had 4 turnovers in the first half and the Steelers trailed 35-10 at half.
  11. Official on Purdue's site. The "boiler" part of my handle is optimistic. https://purduesports.com/news/2024/12/8/football-barry-odom-named-head-coach-of-the-purdue-boilermakers
  12. I've seen that for about a week. I think Choice was also on the list. I think Marion can earn more as an OC for Purdue than as HC for SHSU (by looking at Harrell's and Keeler's deals respectively), but he might want to be HC ASAP.
  13. Congrats! All 3 of my daughters (no pics) performed in drill teams throughout their HS experience. They loved it.
  14. No kidding. Byes have huge value in football: rest and reduced chance of injuries. That said, I wonder if UGA would have preferred no CCG and landed w/ the 5 seed. BYE would have essentially been yesterday, but Beck and Thorson would not have been injured.
  15. They scored a boatload of points against crappy defenses, as they should have... Notre Dame points vs. DFEI Here's Texas, by comparison.
  16. Yup - forecast for 12/20 in South Bend: 32/24 - 20% chance of precipitation - 12 mph wind. IU is acquainted with similarly crappy weather. Would have been really horrible if SMU got the 10 and had to go to South Bend.
  17. Please find it in your heart to forgive me then.
  18. (HBO)Max - yes. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5513081/2024/05/22/college-football-playoff-tnt-sports/ TNT Sports is adding College Football Playoff games starting this season as part of a five-year sub-licensing agreement with ESPN, according to executives briefed on the discussions. The deal will see Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT Sports and HBO Max show two first-round games over the first two seasons of the contract. In the ensuing three years, it will broadcast and stream two first-round games and two quarterfinals. The sides could add more games.
  19. Desmond almost caught up 2 days ago, when he cackled like Hillary (no CR) when Saban said that Sark and Smart were bullshitting.
  20. There was that, too, I just recall comments about "the juice not being worth the squeeze" or something like that.
  21. Ha. As noted - not the case, but if we have Palmer or Herbstreit on commentary, they will say that 100x, minimum. IIRC, Texas eval concluded he was a system QB, etc. and we had Manning coming in 2023. While getting overwhelmed by UGA, Klubnick only was sacked 2x and threw 1 INT.
  22. Bama is in if SMU beats Clemson.
  23. Booing Ryan Day. I'll allow it.
  24. Workday rockstar ad makes me wonder if the ad folks really know what a rock star is. Billy Idol, Gwen Stefani, and Travis Barker. Ok. I guess they had to keep it on budget.
  25. Geez. The selection show, so far, is a beating. Just announce it.
