  1. I’m amazed the Astros haven’t found a catcher better than Maldonado. .
  2. I so wish I had a Texas basketball thread to read that wasn’t constantly being derailed. The best thing everyone could do is just ignore posts completely that derail the thread. Maybe even put a poster on ignore if necessary.
  3. Noticed the same thing. The lack of logic by these people is astounding.
  4. It feels like the staff is purposely taking more 3* rated players early this year than in the past few years. If the data proves that out it’s either because they are ahead of the recruiting services in player evaluation, or less likely they’ve already given up on their top priorities at certain positions. I don’t think that’s the case. That wouldn’t make sense. Usually they take those recruitments well into the fall.
  5. So, this trip to Vegas should be interesting. We've been traveling on vacation all summer to different places, but I had an AA ticket credit that expires in a few months. So, there was only a few day window to use it when we were available, in late July. The only destination that really worked for flights, etc. was Vegas. So we booked that. However, we don't gamble, except for sports betting, and there aren't any interesting shows we wanted to see during those days, so we are going to fly-in, stay away from the strip and wing it with other activities. Eat at some nice restaurants, do a little sports book betting, sit by the pool, etc. We are only there two and a half days. Doesn't cost us much, so why not.
  6. You mean Skip Bayless
  7. Because you are chastising people for buying real estate
  8. Captainant, I worry about the increasingly concentrated ownership of real estate by the wealthy probably more than just about anyone. I’ve been banging that drum for more than 15 years, ever since I learned Ted Turner owned some ridiculous percentage of New Mexico. So in spirit I understand your view. However, your viewpoint also basically violates the laws of economics and asks the little guy to stop buying real estate so that the ultra wealthy can just continue to concentrate more and more wealth. Your viewpoint is ridiculous. It is absurd, and you look extremely naive. Now, if this country really wants to do something, it needs new laws that limit ownership by various type of interests: corporations, foreigners, etc Iuntil this happens, which will be never because the rich won’t allow it, the little guy has no choice but to chase financial interests in real estate before we are all serfs outside of castles, plowing fields
  9. Good lord this can’t be real. Ridiculous.
  10. If I recall correctly, didn’t both Akers and Mack Brown recruit athletes as a strategy, because they tended to be the most naturally gifted players?
  11. Just like AirBnB hosts often suck, so do guests. Pretty much everyone sucks. That’s why I’ve barricaded myself into my bedroom and am not coming out.
  12. I use AirBnB or VRBO when there are several people in the group, because getting a hotel might be too expensive or less social. But overall I am very wary of AirBnB or VRBO these days for the following reasons: 1. Hidden cameras to look at my butt hole. 2. Last minute cancellations to lie and rent for a higher price (happened). 3. Gotcha/extra fees that are outrageous. 4. AirBnB or VRBO being worthless as your advocate in a dispute. 5. Reality not matching the online presentation. It’s become a complete dice roll, and it steams me when they try to screw you over. Why put up with it? Eff ‘em.
  13. Oh I agree. I think the AirBnB market is in real trouble for a lot of reasons. It’s just that he posts fake data all the time so why listen to someone who lies? That’s all I’m saying.
  14. As posted in the Real estate thread, ignore anything Nick Gerli posts. He literally posts wrong information all the time.
  15. Oh yes, I didn’t realize that tweet was from Nick Gerli. That dude is a complete moron. He had some big tick tock about Austin real estate prices, and his data was flat wrong. I pulled it directly from mls. He’s either an idiot or a grifter or both.
  16. Fitbit. I must know exactly how many steps I take every day. Plus my pulse. EKG. Oxygen level. And anything else they can measure. Maybe PSA is next.
  17. I’ve been trying to figure out the public REITs. They’ve dropped a lot, but is all the pain priced in? Who knows.
  18. Sure seems like a lot of programs that get good also end up with a lot of bad players with bad behavior.
  19. I have a friend who needs a financial advisor. He wants a "fee" only advisor, not one that takes control of the portfolio and charges an annual assets under management fee as a percentage of the portfolio size. Does anyone have any recommendations in Austin?
