  1. No of course not. But that 10% also impacts the rest of the wage world to some extent. When someone is evaluating union vs non-union jobs, there is no question there is a linkage, so increases in union wages ripple through the economy to non-union jobs as well. As to the impact of tariffs, 2/3 of the economy is services, 1/3 is goods. The tariffs will be mostly on goods (of course made with overseas lower wages). US wages are the real critical inflation factor.
  2. The only way rates stay high or go higher is if inflation re-ignites, or if the election of Trump causes international treasury bond buyers to stop buying, because he is broadly hated and distrusted by many international trade partners. On inflation, imo the biggest threat is union bargaining for higher wages. There is also the immigration and tariff policies of Trump, but I think those will have lesser effects. The Republican controlled government could do some things to blunt union power. That would be key. I’ve watched the recent pay concessions to unions and they are scary high. Of course, the government spending cuts could also plunge the economy into a recession and rates will drop, but then the question will be whether there is much real estate demand. It depends on the depth of the recession. A lot of moving parts.
  3. Here is yet another article explaining why the environment we are in may have different characteristics than the last 20 years. Again, doesn’t mean rates won’t drop, just that an inversion of the yield curve must happen at some point. And that can be done in two ways, with very different results for mortgage rates. I personally think it will be fine, but there’s no way I would bet a lot of money on it. Banks are sitting on billions of losses because they bet on long term bonds. https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/americas-7-trillion-cash-stash-isnt-going-anywhere-mcgeever-2024-11-21/
  4. There is some talent on this team, but you can just see they don’t understand how to attack on offense, or play good defense, switching off. They rely pretty much on hero ball. It’s so frustrating to watch.
  5. Ya I said that earlier. But he still hs a ton of money to waste.
  6. No, my only point is that everyone is laughing about lsu. And it is funny. And I love it. But tomorrow Knight or Portney could decide to aim their dollars this direction and poach Texas players and it wouldn’t be so funny. Of course, if a Texas billionaire or two wanted to step up, then obviously that would be great. But right now I’m going to limit my joy over lsu’s misfortune because it wouldn’t be very fun watching bidding wars between a couple of rich billionaire assholes. Basically I hate Portnoy.
  7. That’s my exact point. See above.
  8. No, it’s the potential for Portnoy to pull a Phil Knight (with obviously far less money, but still enough) and throw tons of money into NIL. A single very rich dude can have a very big impact on Texas recruiting success.
  9. I wouldn’t even have made it to the funeral.
  10. While it’s great to see lsu get punked, I don’t like seeing some rich asshole from michigan flexing his minuscule johnson.
  11. Just to clarify this one, Braeden must have thought he committed to South Carolina.
  12. They have no idea how to attack a zone defense other than hero ball.
  13. So Gaetz didn’t resign his position solely because of the AG role, right? He’s got to be using the AG failure as his way of peacefully avoiding getting tossed from the House, right? It’s not clear to me because the Republicans these days won’t toss anyone for anything hardly.
  14. I just assumed they were going out of business given one of their few Austin dealerships just closed.
  15. Texas 24 Kenticky 20 total yards 460
  16. I can’t take seeing that commercial anymore. I can’t.
  17. The Democratic Party needs to clean house and bring in a whole new set of people who can figure out how to capture the right data, combat disinformation, establish the right campaign strategies, develop the right messaging, and execute that messaging. And that whole turnaround needs to start now and continue mercilessly for the next four years. Bang the messaging drum constantly for four years, just like the Republicans do.
  18. Helobious posts so many incredibly stupid takes that there is speculation he’s nothing but a troll like futureman, because it’s inconceivable someone could post so many stupid things.
  19. I might be able to get a drink sponsor. If I approach them, what am I asking for?
  20. It has to be a bit, and a very unfunny one at that. No one can be that stupid.
  21. Shaka wins over highly rated team’s can now be easily explained by two things: great athletes free to just run up and down the floor, and three point shooting. If both are hot his teams can beat almost anyone, except really well coached good teams. If one or both aren’t hot, they can lose to anyone. And his teams never get much better throughout the season unless he’s become a better coach thru experience.
  22. Great recommendation, along with the stretching suggestion. I noticed last night that I was extremely dehydrated yesterday, hungry, and my shoulder/back was bothering me. I think at the turn, I get a few minutes relief from the heat or maybe grab a quick drink, but by 16-18 I'm thirsty, tired, hungry, and cramping up in my shoulder and back. This makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the idea. I'll give it a shot next time out.
  23. Waiting does screw me up, but the waiting isn’t tied to just the end of each nine holes. I’m thinking I get tired towards the end of each nine, and I’m doing something with the club.
  24. For the love of God, someone help me. I used to be an 8 handicap 14 years ago but due to a variety of surgeries and injuries it took me until the last year to be able to swing the club regularly. I decided about six months ago to give it everything I’ve got to see if I can get back down to a sub 10 handicap. The last few months I’ve steadily improved to the point where I now have one major re-occurring problem every round. I always start the round okay, play lights out for several holes, then completely fall apart the last few holes (8-9) before the turn, get it back together for several holes then fall apart again the last few holes (16-18). Every single round. It’s bizarre. Any idea what’s going on? I really don’t think it’s mental. It’s almost like I lose my swing during those specific holes. Something about the rhythm of the round.
  25. What was this?
