  1. Paris uses Goats for some of its parks. The Jardin des Tuleries for example... Governors Island uses sheep. https://www.govisland.com/things-to-do/recreation/hammock-grove-sheep
  2. https://www.latimes.com/wildfires-map/#nt=00000194-46d5-d50c-a3bc-67f5e1ad0002-showMedia-7030col2-main Best map and tracker IMO.
  3. I read the book when it first came out. Never saw the show. The movie was very well done. The themes of the book are readily apparent in the movie. Part of the reason I never saw the musical is I didn’t know how well those themes would translate. Obviously, better than I thought they would.
  4. Universal Tariffs of 10-20% on all imported goods. All those folks worried about the price of things are about to get a nice shock. Idiots.
  5. I think it is also people of a certain age. My mom will say, "Well, I don't think that's right." a lot. Even when I have facts to show her. Look, I hear dumb shit all the time. I will always go find objective sources to see if something is true or not. You can usually debunk bullshit in about 5 minutes. The problem is, for some people, their source is places like Gateway Pundit or Fox News. Idiots.
  6. The NY Times is profiling those who were prosecuted for Jan 6th. Ole Domestic Terrorist Barbie is of course covered. Let me just say, fuck all these people, and fuck cunts like @Frank Drebin and @Balcones who say they did nothing wrong. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/06/us/politics/trump-capitol-attack-jan-6.html Jenna Ryan Credit...Desiree Rios for The New York Times Jenna Ryan was a real estate broker and social media influencer in the Dallas area when she entered the Capitol on Jan. 6, praying and chanting ā€œFight for Trump!ā€ with a crowd in the Rotunda. The next day, she posted a message on Twitter, saying: ā€œWe just stormed the Capitol. It was one of the best days of my life.ā€ All of that ultimately led to a 60-day prison term. She claims that she was treated harshly because of her ā€œpublic profileā€ as a Jan. 6 defendant. But being sentenced for illegally demonstrating in the Capitol also allowed her to fulfill what she describes as her ā€œlifelong goal of being a writer and a speaker.ā€ Ms. Ryan, 54, has written a book called ā€œStorming the Capitol: My Truth About January 6th,ā€ which she says ā€œshows how it feels to be caught in the middle of a polarized political climate, canceled by society, surveilled by the F.B.I. and thrown in prison for a tweet.ā€
  7. Jodie Foster just won Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television at the Globes, beating out Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchette.
  8. Colin Farrell just won Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television at the Globes.
  9. This. Thanks a lot, @Bozo_Casanova for flashing the Idiot Signal that brought @Ag with kids back. Sigh.
  10. I like Texas being the underdog. That being said, January 10th is my birthday, so can I pretty, pretty please have a Longhorn win against the couch fuckers burners?
  11. What everyone else here has said. Last year, I was in London for work, and then "popped over" to Paris for the weekend. It worked for me as I was NOT doing touristy things. I was just wandering, shopping at brocantes, other shopping (but of course!), drinking great wine, and having great meals. Other than a few planned meals, I had no plans, so that worked out really well, as the weather both times was pretty shitty (rain is omnipresent in March and April in both London and Paris). If this is your first time in London, I would do Manchester for 2 or even 3 days (I think there might be some cool stuff in Manchester, but I have not been that far afield yet), and then spend the rest of the trip in London. My recommendation to everyone is to plan one thing for the morning (or a couple of things if they are REALLY close together), and then one thing in the afternoon. Give yourself plenty of time to wander, pop into a pub and have a pint, and just marvel at the cool shit in London. If you stay in London longer, you would have time to go out to places like Windsor (cool pubs, but honestly kind of meh (I worked for a company HQd there, so spent a lot of time in Windsor)) and Hampton Court (this I do recommend as it is really cool). As for restuarants, Fallow and Brat are both very good. In 2024, I did: Sunday Roast @ The Devonshire, Grazing Goat (Pub), Brunswick House, Speedboat Bar (Thai), Yashin Sushi, Dim Sum Duck (lines are atrocious), Zephyr Notting Hill, Caravel, Gordon's Wine Bar (celebration with the team, lots of wine, good cheese and meat), another Sunday at the Devonshire (but steaks this time vs. a roast), The Barbary in Convent Garden, Manthan, Kinkally (Georgian Dumplings), Noble Palace (team lunch), Kurisu Omakase, Dovetale, Paradise Green (Aussie resto), Mina's (team lunch), The Dove, Hammersmith (old school pub, definitely good food), Bibi (I went to Gymkhana in 2023), Mambow (probably the best place I went in London in 2024), The Swan in Milton Keynes (boozy Sunday Roast with friends), Mamapen (only Cambodian resto in London - Currently a pop up at The Sun & 13 Cantons pub - really, really good), and Kol (absolutely fantastic haute Mexican). I think the best meals I had were Mambow, Kinkally, Kol, Kurisu Omakase, and Caravel as the top 5. The Devonshire was really, really good, but I can have amazing steak here in NYC. The Dove was very good for a pub. With kids, I think Kinkally could be fun (Georgian Dumplings are awesome). Mambow is a bit further afield, but worth the hike, IMO. As for activities, if you are going to do the changing of the guard, skip Buckingham Palace and do Horseguards (see Westminster Abby afterwards). The Houses of Parliament are fun to go into (love seeing Westminster Hall), and can also be paired with Horseguards, and Westminster Abby (I did that same route with my folks in 2017 - we had a big breakfast, and then did things for about 5 or 6 hours, then had afternoon tea rather than dinner). I love the Tower of London, and it has been years since I have been. I might be due for another visit. Borough Market is always good for a few hours. Leadenhall market is another area I recommend, though I have not been in years admittedly. London has amazing museums, and I personally think that the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery are all worth stops, as is the V&A. I am starting to plan out my work trips in 2025, which I am sure there will mean 4-8 weeks spent in London. Definitely work on your wife to convince her to slow things down.
  12. I’m here for the comeback. Fuck tOSU.
  13. I will be in Emilia Romagna/Bologna/Venice for 2.5 weeks in May. Then it is looking like I am going to a Hen do in Sicily in July (God help us).
  14. What happened to sideshow? He's been shit all year.
  15. The offensive play calling has been wtf. That Gunnar Helm's first target was in the 4th was nuts.
  16. Well, we knew QE had at least one interception in him.
