  1. Average rent in Manhattan is above 4700 a month, for about 703 sq ft. You can find small walkups for less than that, but not in the best neighborhoods. And given subway and bus delays, being close in is important.
  2. Affordable apartments?!? And yeah, New Yorkers will tell you to move the fuck out of the way when you block the sidewalk, but generally, once you get us in a bar or a restaurant, we are pretty nice and easy to talk to.
  3. And @ocugolf has won the Thanksgiving edition of this thread. I am disappointed in the rest of us. We did not being our A-game.
  4. Having dinner tomorrow night at Ilis, from one of the Noma founders. Special Thanksgiving menu. Will report back. New York is a beating on restaurants. There are honestly way too many good places to go to.
  5. Went to Foul Witch on Halloween. Had the Sorana beans with salsa Verde, veal tortellini, and chitarra with Dungeness crab. Dessert was Habanada sorbet. Really enjoyed this meal.
  6. Check out Gallaghers, Keens, it St. Anselm. Last one is in Williamsburg. Sparks is solid as well. I also like Smith & Wollensky. best steak I ever ate in NYC is probably a tie between Keens, St. Anselm, or the Cote de Boeuf at Frenchette.
  7. Did you enjoy it? I want to see it again. Going to see Purlie Victorious tonight with Leslie Odom Jr. On Saturday evening, my friend and I are going to Ilis (restaurant in Greenpoint by one of the Noma founders). We dropped $390 a head (plus tax and tip), and that is before wine. We shall see. On December 1st, we grabbed tickets to the Roscioli takeover by Retrobottega, so that should be fun as well. Should have some good photos to post soon. Also if you are in New York, pop by the Alexander McQueen store in Soho (71 Greene Street), ask for Dwaine, and buy something, but only by November 25th as that is Dwaine's last day. My heart is sad, but my pocketbook is happy.
  8. The only reason I’ve had good CDG experiences is because I’m flying Business or First. That and it takes an hour or more to get into central Paris. Eurostar in, fly out provided you are in premium classes.
  9. Did we get to the part where his dog Conan is a reincarnation of a Lion this jackass fought when he was a gladiator in the Roman Empire? Cause that is a lot to unpack.
  10. Counterpoint, you are at Penn Station, which is a shitshow at the best of times. LGA is your quickest route into the city. I can go door to door from my apt to LGA in less than 30 minutes. Taxis are your friend.
  11. Cairo airport is pretty shitty. I fly BA. I’ll hit Gold, which means first class check in at JFK and Heathrow even if only flying business. It will also mean upgrades to first from business if they have them. Since COVID, I’ve flown BA (Business), American (First and Business), Swiss (First and Business), and Virgin Atlantic (Upper Class). These have all been international flights. Heathrow is a very nice airport if you are flying business or first, and the lounges are pretty good. Also, Heathrow is ligh years better than CDG, which I prefer over Schipol. Stockholm has probably been my most disappointing airport to date, other than Cairo. What a shitshow. I have one more flight this year (JFK/LHR RT Business) which will put me at 1,280 tier points. Unlike US airlines, my BA qualification year runs through Feb 8th (day you joined), and I have a flight on Finnair in January that will end me at 1,840 tier points for this year (1,500 is gold). I fly JFK/Helsinki/Singapore RT. Then I was able to use United points (still have the cc) for flights from SIN to Siem Reap and Da Nang to SIN in business on Singapore Air. i have not flown domestic since COVID, but will have to make some trips to Houston this year.
  12. They are different. I like Bryant Park as it is close to my office. I think the one at Union Square is bigger.
  13. LOL. It just took forever. They have been doing this for two weeks. I support their right. I just want them to support my right to not get caught up in their protest. I am also not a fan of them chanting, "From the River to the Sea," as I am not sure they understand the complicated back story behind that chant. But as long as they stay peaceful, I support their right to say it.
  14. Got caught up in yet another protest tonight (just trying to get home from work!). 20231109_175005.mp4
