  1. Wandering eye jokes anyone? This one is so easy it takes the fun and subtlety out of it.
  2. I read this story last night. Very interesting and amazing the interwebs haven't identified him. DNA matches will catch up eventually, but it's odd that someone can be that anonymous in today's world.
  3. If you like CZ75 platforms, and want to pick up something on a tighter budget but with higher dollar value.....look at EAA Tangfolio lines. Everything from carry to race guns. Excellent value for the money. Available in 9, 45, and 10mm depending on model.
  4. Big difference between a full sized 9mm and a 10mm. I'm a 10mm whore and love the round, but would not suggest it as something with which to compare / contrast with a 9mm for home defense use. Hammer vs. sledge hammer. Everyone needs a sledgehammer, but it isn't going to do you much good when you need to drive just one nail. Picking the right tool for the job is over half of the battle and whatever quality full sized 9 that feels good, you can shoot well, and you can find in stock is the right answer. Sig, M&P, Glock, H&K, Walther, CZ just to name a few. Get one that feels right and that you enjoy shooting. Then by the 10mm for shits and giggles.
  5. If you want a more controllable / accurate way to spend money on ammo, a binary trigger is your huckleberry.
  6. The rest of the big 12 paid okst to throw this game in order to keep Herman around and Herman is still losing.
  7. LaxAmmo.com just dropped 62 1000 round cans of 9mm reman fmj for $579 Their reloads are top notch
  8. csb/ I've always called this exact product a hamburger. At some point in the 70's probably, we found ourselves with a major miscommunication at the hunting camp. Everyone thought they were supposed to bring breakfast and no one brought anything else. We probably had 12 packs of these and a bunch of powdered donuts. One night someone in our group was bitching and saying all he wanted was a hamburger and another crusty old guy threw a pack of these Mrs. Baird's at him and said "here's your fucking hamburger". csb/ I know - you had to be there.
  9. I ate my weight in these during high school and college. Big glass of whole milk with one of these broken up in it and one dunked in it and I was good to go every morning.
  10. That email will be followed by one from an agent with an offer to quote on a 2nd to die policy.
  11. All hat, no cattle. The only things missing in this is him taking a 5 second drink of water and mumbling “COVID” under his breath.
  12. You don't feel like we have enough cash to pry Deion Sanders away from Jackson State, huh?
  13. What will probably happen is we will see an Estate Planning Attorney Income Enhancement bill. LOTS of people fall into that range where today, they had no chance of triggering an estate tax liability, but will under the Biden plan. There'll be a need for some increased planning back to the early 2000's type of exemption strategies. Thousands of estates that wouldn't even tickle the 11-22 million exemptions, will be in the cross-hair of something in the 3-8 million range. Law dogs will love it.
  14. I can see this from a vertical integration standpoint. Long term, I'm sure Callaway is thinking that if the demand for their gear is only tied to the 18 hole golfer, then that market is flat to falling. Research has indicated that things like work and family responsibilities are making it harder for the average person to dedicate the time to regularly playing a traditional round of golf. "Dad's" don't leave every Saturday morning at 9am and then meet the family for dinner at the club after playing 18 holes and then cards in the locker room. TopGolf gives Callaway a backdoor entrance into the main growth category in the industry, the aforementioned cross selling of product, and an immediate "in" with those consumers who's 1st and likely only introduction to the sport would be at a TopGolf facility...whether that be the standard model or a TopTracer range. Makes a lot of sense to me and considering they've been an investing partner for 10-15 years already, the synergy seems fairly natural.
  15. If you have better bucks that are younger, and this one would make a kid happy, the I'd be for taking him this season. Takes a mouth off the range and there is little or no gain in waiting another year, since he isn't likely to get that much better. It's a game of value guessing really - What do we gain by giving him another year, vs. what we can gain this season (happy kid, meat, less competition for another buck).
  16. This exercise in rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic Paxton ship is going to be a very costly endeavor when the labor lawyers get done with the AG office.
  17. My bank says it will be forgiven, but doesn't even want the paperwork yet. They don't trust the SBA not to change the requirements / requests and they don't want to put themselves or us through the hassle. They're saying to just sit back and wait.
  18. Somebody was a tad drunk from partying and fell asleep in a soybean or corn field. Woke up just as the combine got to him I guess.
  19. "Tis but a scratch!" Deer are tough....mkay! Edit - You've been warned. He's alive but it's not pretty.
  20. Damn - That sounds more like an episode of Law and Order rather than the normal AA drama to which one becomes accustomed. For the victims' sake, I hope they catch him and stop the cycle.
  21. They love to go under fences rather than over; even when being pushed. High speed fence ducking causes wounds like that when there is a tie or something else hanging down. I've seen meat and skin on a fence crossing before and it would have created a wound like that, especially if it was running. Could be a missed shot but one would hope not at that angle (for an arrow). If you don't have a poaching issue, I'd lean towards a fence.
  22. I've spent plenty of money over the years on "looks cool" reasoning and judge no man for doing the same. One thing to point out is that...for instance, the M-Lok handguard, buttstock, and pistol grip on that DD can be purchased separately, and fitted on any milspec AR lower/upper combo. The point is that you can achieve the same "look and feel" as that DD rifle, but with a less expensive lower and upper.......leaving more money for an optics package, etc. You can buy a basic lower, upper with the barrel length you want, and then run her through any manufacturer's beauty parlor to fancy-up your girl the way you want her. Either way works. Have fun!
  23. Documentation is the key and it's hard to come by. The Garand Collectors Association does some articles and spotlights on certain rifles from time to time and there is some cool history that can be verified in rare cases, but most Garands are just commodity items; in that their issuance, usage, and travels was not recorded in a way that can now be retrieved. That's not to say that certain manufacturer models or serial numbers aren't prized, but by and large, there is no usage history that can be verified on +90% of them other than a mfg. date. Unfortunately there are 10's of 1000's of those rifles in the hands of people who are convinced that their grandfather or great grandfather carried that exact Garand they now have, into battle. They fact of the matter is that the military didn't allow soldiers to get off a ship and carry their battle rifle back home with them. The vast and overwhelming majority were purchased by veterans after they'd already been home for years...... through mail order surplus catalogs. In the 50's and for years later, one could buy a Garand via mail order and 1000's were purchased that way. Granddad bought one and said "This is just like the rifle I carried", to his family. Years pass and that quote has morphed into "This WAS the rifle my great grandfather carried." Unsuspecting collectors get "taken" by historical claims that are dubious at best, and on the flip side, family members overvalue "their rifle" by attaching a historical tag to a Garand that may never have seen combat. That in no way diminishes the history and collect-ability of any Garand, but it does need to be considered when buying one; especially one that has a story with it that is causing the asking price to be above market.
  24. @TexasGary Yeah - what's the goal for the rifle? Will you be dragging it to the range / lease, shooting competitions, or having it with you when you're dropped into some mountain range on a solo special operator mission. Start with the goal and work backwards from there to identify the base rifle. That said, if money is no object and you just want a DD - go for it. Nice weapon.
  25. Yeah - It's not my 1st Garand. I've got some stashed away. Even have one of the .308 conversions with the spacer block installed. I try to remember to order a new one from the CMP every time I pay to renew my Garand Collectors Association membership each year. Back 20+ years ago one of my kids corrected a friend of mine who said something about putting a clip in his Rem. 788. My kid said..."That's not a clip, that's a magazine, ....right dad?!?" I was a little embarrassed but quite proud at the same time.
