  1. Agreed with all that. I think it's weird that people find it weird that a young couple would want to leave the microscopic constant scrutiny of London for a low key relaxed life in a beautiful place like Vancouver. London's a fun city, but I would find raising children there overwhelming. Vancouver, if that's their destination, is a gorgeous city with wide open green spaces, a great culinary scene, and a chill pace of life. IMO, a much better place to raise children and just a generally better quality of life than a hectic city like London.
  2. I understand your blood lust to kill terrible people who do truly terrible things. Really I do. But we don't make policy based on emotion because that never works out well. Policy is, or should be, based on what is practical and serves the greatest good. Would you say a system that allows due process to be curtailed and innocents to be incarcerated and executed serves the greatest good?
  3. Having worked as an assistant district attorney and a public defender, the notion that a defendant could be tried, convicted, and through even a cursory appellate process in 45 days is embarrassingly stupid. I seriously hope whoever suggested that notion did not graduate from UT. Further, the notion that a person would find that aspirational is morally repugnant. I hope they never have a family member accused of a serious criminal offense. Anyone who has worked within our criminal justice system knows how broken and unjust it actually is. The fact that some believe this broken system is equipped to fairly put citizens to death without any risk of murdering innocents system is truly frightening.
  4. Plus salt level is a very subjective taste thing so I never worry about recipes with low salt quantities. It's better to need to add it than to have a super salty dish.
  5. Did the JJ version of the old San Antonio Chili recipe. I didn't have chipotle peppers so I used about 8 chile de arbols in their place. They added a nice spice as I prefer a spicy stew over mild. The smoky cumin flavor is very nicely pronounced. Definitely a distinctive flavor. It needed a fair amount of salt in my opinion over the 1T recommended, so I used Knorr Suiza Mexican chicken stock powder which I like to use in place of salt for a richer flavor. Delicious!
  6. Just duplicate the file and then experiment with the free software. If you use mac, I think you can do this with preview.
  7. I like Joe, but he constantly makes half of a point, then pivots to a new thought without completing the prior thought.

Buy a Japan sim card before you go and use Google maps. It is super precise in Japan which is very helpful in navigating their transportation system.

Fair enough. What don't you like about Cartagena? It seems to be near the top of most "best of Colombia" lists I've seen online.

    Colombia

I'm planning a three-week trip to Colombia and Peru for February and early March. My very rough itinerary right now: Texas to Cartagena for 4 nights flight to Medellin for 3 nights bus or flight to Salento/coffee region for 3 nights bus or flight to Bogota for 4 nights flight to Lima for 3 nights flight to Cusco for 4 nights including a day in Machu Pichu by train flight back to Lima for one night then back to U.S. For those that have been, does this look like a reasonable allocation of days per city and order of travel? In terms of travel style/priorities, I enjoy seeing natural beauty sights for short side trips, but I'm more into urban cultural exploration.
  11. I went to Mexico City with some friends for a three day weekend and had a blast. Cheap direct flight, pretty high end accommodations for the money, and amazing food and bars. Uber everywhere.
  12. From what little I've read, it seemed they were in the process of getting approval with the queen et al when some staff person leaked it to the media causing H/M to preempt the media without giving grandma and dad the heads up. But who really gives a shit. They'll have no problem making tens of millions with or without approval.
  13. I have no clue how the Queen and her people think, but I imagine that they're happy to still have them in the fold even if only part time. They obviously have a lot of star power and bring seemingly positive attention to the crown for their charitable work notwithstanding the negative local press. William and Kate seem pretty boring and dull, so having some charisma added from the other sibling and spouse seems like a good thing for the crown.
  14. Saw it today. Good solid movie, but the narrative was pretty dry. It reminded me of Dunkirk a bit in that regard. None of the characters really piqued your interest. The celeb cameos were pointless.
  15. He's an evil piece of shit. I hope hell has no ADA ramps.
  16. Well you see, she's a woman, of color, who's not Christian, and doesn't slob Trump's cock when he does dumbshit foreign policy. In ETB's damaged brain, that means she supports Iranian terrorists. It's the high level of thinking one has come to expect from Trumpkins.
  17. 5th from the bottom looks like a young Sienna Miller.
  18. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/jan/08/prince-harry-and-meghan-say-they-are-stepping-back-from-royal-family Apparently it's a big deal across the pond. I don't know why the Brits care so much what a guy 6th in line to the crown does with his life and his hot wife.
  19. [surly] ask you husband [/surly] I googled Insinkerator Evolution parts and Amazon has replacements. Search Amazon for "InSinkErator Garbage Disposal Flex Coupler 75499, Anti-Vibration Tailpipe Mount Coupling". The part reviews show other customers with the same issue that the replacement fixed.
  20. Caught a bug last week along with a cough. I made the mistake of taking a nighttime cough medicine that knocked me out. I ended up waking up to sharting myself 5 or 6 times that night each requiring a boxer change. Perhaps not technically sharting. Longest night of my life.
  21. I recently went to Ljubljana, Slovenia on a baltics trip. It was a beautiful city with pretty good food. It's fairly touristy but a nice place to pass a day or two. I spent a couple weeks in Croatia and that place was over-crowded with tourists despite being the shoulder/off season. Zagreb and Rovinj were exceptions to that and are worthwhile for a day or two each and are located in the far north of the country allowing for easy access from Vienna and so on.
