  1. The pool operating expenses vs mural expense debate is similar to the UT university tuition/staff wages vs UT athletics budget debate. Del Conte gets a big raise and the hoopleheads will chime in about why they dont they spend that money on increasing wages for Jester cafeteria workers. They’re separate buckets. Capital expenses vs operating expenses. In the big picture they might be related but individually they’re unrelated.
  2. We’ve never had disruption of the peaceful transition of power since the Civil War. Had people in government prepping for war and there was a plot to kill Lincoln
  3. “our health and safety is their top priority”
  4. Coaching got better as the year progressed and the linebackers started filling their zones. Cant remember a Texas team where the LBs consistently disrupted coverage, outside of an occasional athletic burst. BOB coaching Bama’s offense really helped us last year. It was like they just showed up without a gameplan. Early in the season we were wide open in the middle. It was taking candy from a baby when they needed it on the last drive.
  5. Barry Keoghan Weird kid in Banshees movie nominated for Oscar Also kid on the boat in Dunkirk (he was in his mid 20’s here) Its not like its a dramatic physical transformation but I think he looks different depending on the angles. I also didnt notice him in Chernobyl. But he’ll be in some big movies coming up - Masters of the Air and Saltburn
  6. Jason Clarke has been in tons of stuff, but he is inhabiting this role. I forget its him.
  7. regardless I bet >95% of them will ultimately support Paxton in terms of voting for him in future elections. What do the Wiccans think?
  8. caveat: licensing requirements must be aligned with gun safety (and not be bullshit) and not be unnecessarily burdensome or discriminatory.
  9. We dont need a waiting period. After passing a universal background check, people need to prove they can maintain and operate the weapons they purchase. Also, they need to take personal responsibility for each weapon they own. And certain guns cannot change owners without a licensed retailer being involved. At the end of the day, responsible people will do this no problem.
  10. Was in a friend’s downtown condo overlooking town lake. I commented on all the paddleboards, “who the hell wants to sit out there? wtf?” My friend responded, “well we’re going to do the same damn thing at DKR next week.”
  11. Its the 2.1 amendment after it was revised to exclude militia service, framers intent, and states rights.
  12. Thank god. That part was a beating.
  13. If you’re a Texan and enjoy the luxuries of our bountiful natural resources, you can thank democrats like FDR, Sam Rayburn, LBJ, and JJ Pickle and other civic-minded leaders who invested in Texas infrastructure and set up agencies with legislation at state and federal levels. Investments made from 1930-1980 were critical for our success. Since that time, the GOP has largely starved the beast and Texas relies on transplants for prosperity. Our power grid is substandard Our transportation is poor Children, elderly, and disabled are in crisis Our water supply and air quality is suspect Our schools are underfunded and undermined Our healthcare system is top heavy (great for rich and populated) Our government is corrupt
  14. Democrats are feckless and suck at times, but at least they try. I challenge you to search the world, identify any country or US state that is economically developed, a democracy, and has a diverse population, and identify successful public policy positions that you would support. My guess is that you’ll find legislation and policies that a democrat in the US would also support. If you can’t cite any, then trust people like me to tell you to vote straight ticket democrat because they are the only major party in the US that attempts to govern within the framework of a democracy at this time.
  15. Lying is like breathing to that guy. His only chess move is playing checkers. 6’3 215? He’s 6’0 260 lb, / 6’2 with lifts
  16. What are we gonna strenuously object? Teams that complain about officiating always look like punks in the media. We’re not gonna sue. We’ll lie and take it.
  17. The media will be working in shifts to make the Big12 accountable for [checks notes] 10 years of biased officiating. We’re not going to win the Big12. We’re coming off a 5-loss season and lost a generational talent. My expectations are low and vagina is extremely dry.
  18. That is a lucid, well thought-out, intelligent objection. Overruled. Bill O’Brien coached the 2022 offense to 41 points a game. 4th in the nation. BOB is one of the worst OC’s out there. Sometimes talent covers up bad coaching. Sark can coordinate an offense. And some of his offenses are beautiful to watch. Some are not. It remains to be seen what he can do without elite talent. We saw our offense sputter after other teams adjusted. Sometimes it looked like we ran out plays. He got run out of Atlanta. I’m hoping he works out, but he’s been underwhelming so far.
  19. He was the judge who correctly identified massive inequities like 20 years and 10 leg sessions ago. That he didnt swoop in and adjust the formulas that punish urban districts is not his fault. Current state leadership see the outdated formulas as a feature and not a bug
  20. California is populated by generations of Oklahoma rejects.
  21. Everyone knows that Karl Marx wrote Mein Kempf from his home in Helsinki, Sweden
