  1. This is an example of why we created antitrust legislation century ago. The streaming model is sometimes rigged to make revenue sharing difficult. The actual value of shows are hidden or impossible to calculate. And because the streaming services produce the content, they are both buyer and seller. Streaming also may not be profitable but it’s perceived as valuable by stock holders and venture capitalists. And they will be perceived as even more valuable if they can decrease their talent costs.
  2. Root of all evil
  3. At 1:12 you’ll see a shake similar. LT and Barry are probably closer due to lower center of gravity. Bijan does not resemble Barry except in cut to acceleration with fluidity. Bijan is a much bigger, more physical back than Barry. Bijan shouldnt be able to move like that at his size. LT and Barry sure seemed to like the spin move. I think that has been coached out a bit, as dudes get planted, including Bijan a couple of times. LT is a better comp to Bijan. I like the Marshall Faulk comp better.
  4. I doubt crowd noise is louder consistently. We diagnosed how the dumbotron sucks the life out due to cranking it to 100dbs up until a few seconds before the snap. Why get loud when the crowdtrack does it for you? Also, with secondary ticket sales so convenient, and alienation of core fanbase, tourists fill the stands in record numbers. And as we know, the overdue move to group students together has made a huge difference. If there’s a crowd boost, its because of that and general alcohol sales.
  5. Banks will (hopefully) end a 20-year drought of 1st round talent on the line year after next. For some reason he needs to school. Mackovic was probably first recruiting the last 1st round talent drafted (Mike Williams) before he signed w Mack. Bijan ended a 17-fucking-year drought on the offensive side. Jesus, we’ve been wandering the wilderness. Blame falls squarely on Mack Brown to squander momentum.
  6. The students started a chant during the injury timeout because that was one of the rare moments of relative silence during the game. And they were pissed at Wyoming fans. Most of us arent too old for cutting edge acts like AC/DC, Journey, Judas Priest, and 4 Non-Blondes “What’s Going on-a-on!!!”. Its not old vs young. Its corporation vs fan. The formula that works is this: > Great tailgate environment > Sit students together with band > Open alcohol sales > Texas football Thats 90%. CDC has helped get that. But they’re fucking up the remaining 10%.
  7. For first time visitors who are not big fans of the game, the current game experience is awe-inspiring. For college football fans, the distraction is something you have to endure to enjoy the game and time with your friends. Think its at a 95/100 (and not just the decibel levels). They need to go down to a 65/100. The game experience is bloated and overproduced. From CDC’s recent essay, he’s super proud to see Fonzie jump the shark.
  8. Bama receivers made several tough catches (while getting popped) and torched our secondary a couple of times. Had Milroe had time to pass, we’d been in trouble. Meanwhile, we dropped multiple passes. And now are bottom 10 on the year in drops apparently. Conversely, the 2022 Bama game, their receivers were terrible and should have cost them the game. I’ll hear your reasons now.
  9. ChatGPT prompt “Describe Gameday”
  10. My take that Bama receivers outplayed ours was not popular, as was my opinion that 2018 Texas receivers (Collin Johnson, Lil Jordan, Duvernay and the tight end Beck) over current group. Receivers do more than make big plays. They need to catch the ball, block, get open, make themselves a target, and make difficult catches. Our guys arent doing that consistently. At the same time, Ewers has also been inconsistent. But being surrounded by consistency would help.
  11. Saw them advertising some ghost hunter show.
  12. This is how it’s done (wait for it) - sweet caroline - backyard brawl version https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxTQGU1Rl-X/?igshid=MWZjMTM2ODFkZg== The control freaks at Belmont are scared to death
  13. They are there for the experience. And since they are grouped together, there are countless ways you can entertain them and just them without jumping the shark for all. And one thing you do if there’s lack of interest is decrease their ticket allotment. But since they’re grouped together you wont be seeing that. Because they’ll make their own fun. And that will be the best fun without lame corporate gimmicks. And you wont be seeing that with SEC schools coming in and when demand and FOMO will be all-time high.
  14. Like I said, grouping students together fixes a lot of things. You can then work that crowd with experiences, camera work, general admission policies, spirit groups, phone interaction, prizes, and welltimed stadium interaction. They also entertain themselves and create unique experiences. Alcohol fixes the other issues as does winning and playing bigtime programs. Gimmicks are not why college football is special. The UT gameday experience is bloated to say the least.
  15. Sure. Barry has almost as many TDs in one year as Earl had in his entire college career. Then Bum ran Earl into the ground. Barry averaged almost 100 yds/game for 10 years. He had no off years. And he was dangerous in the passing game. One common trait of Barry and Earl is they both caused defenses to piss their pants (but for different reasons). If you didnt divert all resources to stop them as individual players, you were gonna have a long day.
  16. There’s plenty of concepts that could work and do work for other schools. But for us, open alcohol sales have worked wonders as has putting students altogether. That’s 90% of what was needed to improve things. Fielding a winning team and getting SEC teams in here does this rest. The other stuff is filler.
  17. They did a great job on this. But one thing they did not show (because they focused a hunch on Magic’s struggles), was how much better Magic was over other point guards, starting with the height differential.
  18. Epilogue Do we have cheerleaders? Cameraman would usually get some nice shots. Now we have to see Vic Mackey’s Kiss Girl a dozen times a game.
  19. Good >Wyoming gameplan and oline. They took the air out of the ball, especially in 3rd quarter. Respect. >Tube tops >Xavier Worthy’s TD. He reminds me of Wane McGarity but with worse hands and less tracking ability. >Drones >4th Quarter Bad >Nonstop jock rock and hip hop >Quinn Ewers >Texas Fight instructions Ugly >The overall gameday environment for fans of college football. Very few replays. No band. Sensory overload. It’s clear the experience is designed to appeal to a broader audience. And suck the life out of the crowd. When you long for injury timeouts thats an issue.
  20. Barry Sanders ran for 2600 yards and 37 TDs his Heisman year. Relatively speaking, Mike Gundy was the best QB he ever played with. Wayne Fontes was his NFL coach. We can only pretend Barry Sanders isnt the best RB ever. I’ll accept a Marshall Faulk comp but Bijan’s gotta ways to go. Mind you, Falcons made the right choice drafting Bijan. He’s awesome.
  21. Wall to Wall jock rock and hip hop music at full volume continues to be a crutch and allows the tourists to enjoy themselves. Its lazy. There needs to be some time to breath and organic fan reaction to occur. Night game 4th quarters can be fun. Nice drone show
  22. You’re gonna be retired and worried about state income tax?
  23. Sanders is better than Beck, especially as a big receiver who lines up on the line. Sometimes he manages a stalemate with defensive backs and gets in the way of linebackers. Humphrey was a fucking beast, who had a massive catch radius and was very reliable. He was uncoverable and brutalized DBs. Collin Johnson had an alltime catch radius. The COMBO of Humphrey and Beck was very effective. Id take them over Sanders and Whitt. But for all the peeps with amnesia from the 1st half of the Bama game, you werent screaming at Ewers for throwing deep to Worthy in double coverage as the ball bounced a yard away? Or the multiple times that Worthy dropped a pass in this game? Top 3 WR in history? Sure.
  24. Yes, I remember drops and Bama receivers catching everything that moved like their lives depended on it. The difference in the game was pass protection. If you dont believe me, audit this thread in the first half and you’ll see some hysterical posts about Worthy.
