Week 14, 2023, Texas v Washington, College Football Playoff Edition
His post may have been in jest, but it seemed you missed it. We were ranked #1 in 3rd down defense this year. We gave up 3-10 on third down conversions last week. Georgia passed up because they held Bama to 3-13. Still elite.

Would you believe it if I told you that we actually ran for more yards this year, despite losing the 8th overall pick in the NFL draft and another really good running back in Roschon Johnson (4th round NFL draft pick)? On top of that, we lost the Doak Walker front runner in game 10 and maintained our running production despite that? Things in the game done changed, hombre

The Texas team you beat last year wasn't even the 2022 Texas team. Many key guys missing there. Quinn went from being a bus driver down the stretch of last year to being thrust into a starring role. Worthy was dinged up and had a broken hand. Even our 3rd string back was lightly used due to a sports hernia. This team is much improved from last year on both offense and defense, and the physicality on both lines will be one of the biggest differences you'll see. Increased team speed and talent at the skill positions as well. Improved special teams personnel and coaching. Texas needed the run last year to really get anything going offensively. This year, we are much more versatile in how we can win. Your best bet is more dropped passes or stolen possessions due to turnovers or penalties. Washington has also gotten better. Dillon Johnson is better than Wayne Talupapa, Penix is still Penix. Trice looks more explosive this year. Jabbar Muhammad (Big 12) is better than what y'all put out there last year. It's gonna come down to line play. Even if you guys have a small advantage there, I think we have enough to pull out the win as long as we protect the ball.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2024: Bags Don't Beat Bankrolls
We'd be tied with Ohio State with 4.

Aggy 2024: Still waiting on the Looch 44
It's all about alignment guys, you'll see. At least Herman won 13 games one season with a wide receiver at QB. Elko beat a Clemson team, at home, that ended up not being as good as expected. They beat NC State as well. Now he's taking his unproven bunch of coaches to the SEC West with massive and immediate expectations on all of them. I'm gonna stock up on a variety of Smartfood this offseason.

He's more mobile than you think. I'd say he's somewhere between Sawyer Robertson and Behren Morton.

GP North Shore. That would help recruit the Houston area too. Maybe Devin Sanchez has a change of heart with him in the fold.

Texas O-line talk
I said it before, but Hayden Conner has been blocking his ass off for the last 2-3 games. Glad to see him picking up his level of play, keep it up.

Maybe we'll be able to put another coach on the road in his absence.

By that same reasoning, why have him coach in the playoff game?

I doubt Texas would be cool with being a man short during this recruiting period. Maybe he can pull double duty, but he can't just eschew his obligations over here.

Not interested in arguing semantics. They'll be talented enough at the position. Happy?

I looked on google and didn't see much about an injury on first glance. Fair enough, they'll probably still be fine at the position unless Bryce finally hops in the portal Also checked stats out and didn't see any listed production after the Miami game. My bad.

Eh. He was buried on the depth chart. Guys like Anderson, Mathews, Kerr, and even Brooks made more of an impact

Are you a Rice or Texas State fan or something? Maybe you just really like carbs.

Is it Grubb or is it DeBoer? Feels like an Andy Reid/Eric Bieniemy situation

We gave him a chance. He can't stay healthy. He's not a plus coverage guy either. He may go elsewhere and play his covid year, but he may just call it a career with all those injury issues.

Florida will have to do some serious work during their in-home visit to keep that visit from happening.

I think he went JUCO due to grades.

Life as a student athlete, especially at Texas, is more difficult of a job than most people ever come close to in their lives.

Let it go man. They fucked around and found out already. Switched positions and still can't get PT. He's probably gonna try to get to SMU, Texas State, or Incarnate Word

This is accurate. Former 5-star actually at receiver unlike JWhitt. Came in with great expectations, had a few injuries here and there but wasn't wowing people either way. Hard to stand out when you have guys like MHJ, Wilson, Olave, Egbuka, and JSN in the same room, but still.

Aggy 2024: Still waiting on the Looch 44
I was always curious as to what his coaching rolodex actually looks like. He hasn't really been anywhere for a long time and he has a reputation as an asshole. People will follow an asshole if they think it'll benefit their career, but he's an unproven coach heading into a very difficult situation from an expectations vs reality standpoint.

Nah. Jeremiah Smith is a true freshman baller coming in. They have some really good young guys on campus right now too. He was one of the inevitable high 4-star/5 star receivers they get that didn't pan out. He actually got a lot of PT, but never really became a top target.
