  1. Sark is the fucking man. So happy he’s our coach. Coaching staff stability, coaches that can develop, coaches that can recruit, good schemes, great depth, elite talent, great evaluations. It’s been 20 fucking years since a Texas head coach has had this program hitting on all cylinders like this. What’s more impressive is where we are given the shit sandwich he inherited.
  2. Yeah, just because we get snippets of what's happening in a 20 minute media window doesn't give us an accurate picture of what they are doing during the closed practices. They had Derek Williams Jr working with the 2nd team as well. Also, not sure how they split up 1st and 2nd team but it could be something as simple as the 2nd team defense is going against the 1st team offense and maybe they want a look at Barron getting reps against the #1 WRs. Also your analogy is apples to oranges. Banks plays just LT. Sark has said Barron is going to be moving around the back end. While they try him in multiple spots, it would make sense to let his back up get 1st team reps. I'm guessing Barron is going to be starting at nickel when they walk out there for the 1st play of the season and all this discussion is going to be forgotten.
  3. Barron doesn't need reps at nickel. I imagine they are getting Guilbeau as many reps as he will likely rotate in heavily. If Barron can play all 3 positions on the back end, I imagine they will sub in Guilbeau a lot if Barron is rotating around the back end if they are subbing out any of the CBs or safeties. They also had Jelani McDonald working with the 1st team... so yeah... not taking the depth chart too seriously right now. I imagine it is very likely going to be: Nickel: Barron/Guilbeau CB: Muhammad, Holmes S: Mukuba, Williams
  4. How does it generally play out when schools cannot come up with the money? I imagine contracts get presented before they sign? Is this where the players find out they aren't getting what was promised? Or is it when it comes time to fund the money?
  5. I also wonder if Texas will come in towards the end with their final offer rather than doing it now and allowing the agents/players to shop themselves and have months to find better offers to drive the price up...
  6. So pretty sure we pursued Toviano heavily and I read mulitple articles about how Toviano is a great culture fit and takes football seriously from the 9.95ers. I also remember reading him and Manny Muhammad were not going to go to the same school as they play the same position. Either way, happy he's not a longhorn with the news of his arrest.
  7. Dude, I was getting my butt whooped the first week. Running the ball effectively and then when I would see the safeties creep up, I go to play action but I would get sacked within a second of the fake handoff or have to throw on my back foot. Since then, I run the ball or throw out of 3-4 WR bunch sets with out play action or empty sets and haven't lost a game against the cpu. I was getting sacked like 6-7 times a game and throwing so many interceptions off play action. They need to fix it.
  8. Anyone play online with randoms on road to college football mode? I ended up 4-2 yesterday. Most of my wins ended up rage quitting by halftime. One 16 year old was talking so much shit after he started a game with an interception and took a quick lead only to throw 3 picks and be down 2 scores by half time. The play that made him rage quit was him pinning me at the 1 yard line on a punt and I housed it 99 yards on a HB dive play with Baxter on the very first play lmao. He lost his shit and quit. I love it.
  9. How accurate are the playbooks in respect to what the teams actually employ? In the original series, they were pretty good about each team having what they run. I read a few comments that the playbooks in this game are pretty stripped down and generic across the board. I’ve only really played with Texas in exhibition games and UTSA for my dynasty. The Texas play book is pretty spot on with tons of motion, jet sweeps, pistol/gun formation, and 2 TE sets. Baxter is a monster in the game. I played a few buddies online and they could not take him down. I don’t know if this is what Sark is intending to do but I seem to find Niblack open deep a ton. He’s such a mismatch in the game. Bond is just unfair on the jet. Haven’t found anyone that can stop it yet.
  10. Loving the game so far. The running game and jet motion is fucking fun and realistic. I actually do much better running then throwing. Also, cannot for the life of me figure out RPOs. I probably need to go through a tutorial. The jukes, spins moves, feel for the game while running is the best EA has ever done it. Defense has been wild for me. I'm either getting 7 picks a game or just getting shredded. There doesn't seem to be an in-between. I also love playing away games. Feels so much more realistic if it's a tight game, crowd is into it, and I can't audible. Just the game itself feels about as close to real life as possible compared to previous versions. Anyone have playbooks they like? I love the Texas playbook with all the jet motions. I feel like I run the ball much better. Ran the Oregon playbook and threw like 5 interceptions.
  11. So can you play against people online for a quick exhibition game? I’m trying to figure this shit out. Also, I did a quick play through against ou on Heisman mode and Quinn is sucking.
  12. "Hey Arch, here is $600 for the game and and $50k to make a twitter post about the game" Problem solved.
  13. well... i'm benching quinn the minute he takes a sack in the game...
  14. Man the in play graphics and movements are insane on the gameplay video.
  15. Just pre-ordered the deluxe version. Work and my toddler take up a ton of time but if anyone has an online dynasty that is more casual, I’m in and ready to take your 2 star recruits.
  16. Bolden has. Golden was the 3rd option on the Houston team last year…. If that’s is proving it on a college level then you’re setting the bar quite low. Cook and Moore could have those same stats at a program like Houston if they got snaps. Both dudes were blue chip WRs and both are good. Their lack of snaps isn’t an indicator of their talent considering there were 3 NFL WRs ahead of them. I imagine we’re going to see Golden in there on critical downs where we need a reliable WR like we saw JWhit as Sark has alluded to that in one of his more recent interviews. Bolden is 5’8 and 165 lbs. I’m not sure that’s what you want starting against SEC corners on an every down level. I imagine Sark is going to have “explosive play” packages for him and he will get 5-10 targets a game whether that’s in the run game like Keilan or as a WR. Also, from a roster management standpoint, Bolden is going to be out of eligibility this year so it’s not like we have to worry about him transferring out if he doesn’t get a starting title. If anyone is going to take one of the starting spots, it’s going to be Wingo. Personally, I bet he’s starting before ou.
  17. It’s going to be Bond, Cook, and Moore with Bolden and Golden mixed in heavily. The question is… who is losing their spot to Ryan Wingo because there isn’t a WR on campus as talented as him. Bobby mentioned in a live video that an agent told him that Wingo is basically the man in summer workouts.
  18. The dude giving him the sales pitch there was Evan Stewart who has yet to play a single game for Oregon. Not exactly a model representation of a player with good culture or habits. Let just be real here and not beat around the bush. He got paid and can smoke and party in Oregon. Hell I’d probably take that trade off when I was 18 and wanted to get away from family too.
  19. Not sure he took a back seat. I imagine like the rest of us, Johnson probably thought Moore would end up at Texas. Maybe this makes him rethink his opportunities at Texas as far as depth chart and playing time.
  20. Honestly, WR is the least of our concerns. We’re going to pull very high end portal players every year and we’ve got a stacked room. Maybe we can use that Moore NIL money to get players at positions of need.
  21. He picked Oregon? LSU, Texas, tOSU are churning out NFL WRs… and he picks Oregon lmao. Well, we were never going to win this one.
  22. Borderline 5 star DE Lance Jackson. Top 100 and borderline 5 star Edge Orogbo. Top 150 prospect and top in-state LB Elijah Barnes. About to land top 150 level safety Kade Phillips. All blue chips prospects after picking up blue chip dudes in Collins, Black, Filsame, January, Mack last year... I'm sure I'm missing other players. Texas is landing damn good players but missing on DT, the biggest position of need seems to be what has everyone up in arms.
  23. So just random tidbits from different podcasts and live videos. Hank South from 24/7 seems pretty confident Pettijohn is going to pick USC. I also wouldn't be surprised if we have Faraimo ahead on our board with how much Gerry and company have been hyping him up. Fasusi looks like he's trending to ou and seems like from posters here and Gerry that he seems to have enjoyed the partying part in Norman a bit too much. Maybe the staff feels Rogers would be a better fit and would take football more seriously? Who knows but getting Rogers would be a great addition and adding Brooks would make this maybe the best OL class in the country. Flood continues to keep that room stocked. Oh and I guess everyone expects Brandon Brown to flip tomorrow.
  24. Hell yeah. I didn't realize Orogbo was ranked that high. Our Edge/DE position has gone from biggest weakness on the team to arguably the best in the country. Also, HUDLs below from Faraimo and Pettijohn. Quick thoughts... Pettijohn looks like he will need to add some weight but looks good in coverage and is athletic as hell. Not much film of him shedding blocks. Faraimo's highhlights are from his first 5 games last year. Dude looks like a stud. Not much film in coverage either but he looks like he could bust some heads right now at the college level. Physical, fast, and great instincts. Honestly, I would be happy with either of them. Pettijohn trending away and Faraimo has been rumored to be a ND silent so decent chance neither ends up a longhorn. Faraimo http://www.hudl.com/v/2LjWWb Pettijohn https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15320534/6501c332a0238a035cd43fb4
  25. Faraimo is a beast. I'd take Faraimo given the choice after watching both their tapes online. With that said, not sure we can pry him away from ND.
