  1. Have a private chef come to the house and make you a special dinner
  2. I took my wife and kid on a Disney cruise many years ago. I was chatting with one of the outside bartenders asking where they were previously. They were doing Alaskan cruises but just cut through the Panama Canal. He said it was the most miserable he had been on a cruise ship. Said it was insanely hot, you are barely moving so no breeze then the ship was completely overwhelmed with a shit ton of mosquitoes.

Can you setup Apple Pay or Samsung Pay using the Amex? Then you could both use it.
  4. /csb Had a neighbor 20 or so years ago that had a big nice house, pool, expensive cars, a bad ass boat, trailer smoker and a nice Harley. He had a lot of toys and and a new younger hot wife. One day he had a party and we started to discuss his company. He owned all the crazy crane claw machines at all Cici's and some other restaurants. Found out he had his company office at small nearby airport where he kept his plane. Once a week they would fly to different parts of Texas to collect from all their machines. That was his only source of income.
  5. Just an FYI - there are some open GE appointments for Feb 23rd at Austin Bergstrom if any needs to get interviewed.
  6. I'm in the Austin area and I got a quote for a 26kw Generac installed for $18k a few months ago. They wanted half upfront and there is a 10 month waiting list for installs. No way am i going to give someone $9k upfront and hope for the best.
  7. I'm in the Austin area and received a quote from Astoria Lighting recently. For my 3900 square foot one story with Gemstone lights all around was $12K. That is a lot of Christmas lights being put up and down. Did not move forward.
  8. Did one yesterday. I smoked it at 250 until it hit 120. Let it rest a bit then seared in a cast iron pan with beef tallow for a couple minutes each side. Served with horseradish sauce from the prime rib thread and also made a chimichurri sauce, see below. I made both sauces a day earlier and they tasted much better when served. ¼ cup hot water 2 teaspoons dried oregano 1 teaspoon salt 1 ⅓ cups fresh parsley leaves ⅔ cup fresh cilantro leaves 6 garlic cloves, minced ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes ¼ cup red wine vinegar ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil Combine hot water, oregano, and salt in small bowl; let stand for 5 minutes to soften oregano. Pulse parsley, cilantro, garlic, and pepper flakes in food processor until coarsely chopped, about 10 pulses. Add water mixture and vinegar and pulse briefly to combine. Transfer mixture to medium bowl and slowly whisk in oil until incorporated and mixture is emulsified. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature for at least 1 hour.
  9. A couple of other items that I included in our build a few years ago. We had a recirculating pump installed for the hot water heaters. We get hot water is less than 5 seconds in the master bath. Saves water and time. We also put the master bedroom on its own HVAC system. Would not have it any other way now.
  10. For the fireplaces - we went with a normal log burning fireplace with gas assist. For the inside fireplace we had gas logs installed and they look great. They get really hot and put off a nice amount of heat. For the outside fireplace, used gas assist but burn real logs.
  11. Found a 1.75L Weller Special Reserve yesterday for $45. Surprised to see it on the shelf.
  12. Naked Florida man chases couple around Chick-fil-A parking lot, deputies say Authorities searching for Florida man who allegedly stole cat blood from clinic Investigators estimated the blood vials amounted to a $600 loss for the clinic.
  13. Why drain water out of the pool? It will evaporate at some point and it doesnt hurt if it overflows a little. When you drain, you lose chemicals.
  14. A couple of liquor stores showed up on my ubereats app this week. I was browsing them and noticed one had Blantons for $99. Put that in my cart and went to checkout. The app would not let me checkout and told me I had to order food to have liquor delivered. You can't add food from another place and this being a liquor store i couldn't checkout. I noticed they also sold mixers. Add one and no luck, added a bag of ice, nope. Saw some champagne my wife likes added it and it would let me checkout, no idea why. Dude showed up about 35 minutes later with both.
  15. Saturday morning my wife was watching that cooking show Pioneer Woman. Host was making a BBQ sauce of some sort and used 1 1/2 cups of BLANTONS in the recipe. I almost fell out of my chair. Who the heck uses 12 ounces of liquid gold in a damn BBQ sauce?
  16. If you a looking for a cool market area in Copenhagen, go here, Torvehallerne Copenhagen. Tons of food stalls and variety.
  17. Stayed at Palmilla Beach last year and the food at the Black Marlin is great. They served a scallop leak bacon butter dish that was one of the best scallop dishes I have ever tasted. Everyone is our group was impressed at the quality of the food for such a small place.
  18. We were there last August. We've done all the tourist stuff and really enjoyed most of it. This last visit, two things really stood out. First, we took my kid to Kauai Surf School. It was amazing. The waves were perfect for hours. The ocean bottom there is rock so the waves never change. Wave after wave of perfect learning waves. Absolutely amazing watching my kid, only 13 at the time, surf waves all the way to shore time and time again. They have instructors that stay in the water and help the kids catch waves if necessary. Second, we took the road past the Hyatt and just kept driving until it dead ended. One of the most amazing beaches i have ever seen. Then drove a little way back to Gillin's Beach, same thing. Only regret was we didn't pack food and drinks to enjoy it all day. Really amazing. There is a beach rental there, which would be amazing. Here is the link: https://www.gillinbeachhouse.com/ Have fun
  19. Just an FYI, last time we went to NRG, our event didn't end until after midnight. We took the train back to ZaZa. The train was mostly full of homeless drunk dudes. One guy was walking around with a 40 in one hand and dice in the other trying to get people to bet with him. It was a little uncomfortable with the wife and kid. The ZaZa bellman told us the next day that travel after midnight can get a little sketchy.
  20. I stay at ZaZa or Icon, usually determined by our plans. ZaZa has a few Yukon Denali's that will drop you off within 5 miles of the hotel for free. We tip the guy and he will give you a card and will return when needed. They will not go to NRG for events though. The train station is right behind the hotel. There are some nice museums near by if you like that thing.
  21. We used Fielder Pools here in Austin. Small company but have been building pools for a long time. The owner did our design and was onsite a lot. We had about 3" of soil and the rest rock. They brought in a big backhoe and a huge air hammer and knocked it out if 4 or 5 days. Loud as hell but quick.
  22. Cedar Park Costco has a few bottles of Yippee Ki-Yay available for $69
  23. We have a Jura super-automatic that i didnt think i would like but not sure we could live without it. Makes awesome coffee. I've seen a lot of adds for the new Spinn coffee maker which is similar idea but cheaper. Not sure how it tastes, but it is intriguing.
