  1. Bert's collection is ridiculous. And I say that in the most complimentary and envious way possible.
  2. Wow . . . exceedingly dumb play. Take the loss, pussy!
  3. Stop the presses -- Seger has a connection with Detroit. Who knew? If his sole aim was to help Detroit, he would have sold out long before he did.
  4. Going from stuff like this . . . . . . or this . . . . . . to this
  5. Sharp. Interested in particular about the side steps. I've had a Bronco on order since last March (reserved in 8/20). My patience is starting to wear thin . . .
  6. Top 5 Petty songs for me: The Waiting (#1 by a fair margin) Change of Heart Here Comes My Girl King's Highway Free Fallin'
  7. Here's an article from a few days ago indicating that the investigation commenced last month by the Texas AG's office is still ongoing. So I don't think any final decisions have been made with respect to whether criminal charges will be filed against Carruth. https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/man-who-shot-girlfriends-ex-husband-on-front-porch-in-texas-asks-judge-to-move-lawsuits-out-of-concern-that-he-cant-get-a-fair-trial/
  8. Well played. I'll be burning in hell right alongside you for laughing when I read it.
  9. Keep an eye on the ER supply in the places you frequent, HG. My local place used to routinely have 8-10 bottles on the shelf plus handles occasionally, but the last few times I've been there, there was no ER to be had. Not sure if that's something unique to that location or if we're starting to see a shortage of it out here.
  10. I think the Smoke Wagon SB is solid if you can get it for the right price. Picked up a bottle not long ago for around $40. But I've also seen it at $60 or even more in some places, and at that price there are better options.
  11. Finally cracked the bottle of Bowman SB that I picked up in Vegas a couple months ago, and it's delicious. Kicking myself for not buying more . . .
  12. From your keyboard to God's eyes, but I'll believe it when it happens. I've been trying to push hipsters and taters toward mescal or craft gin or *anything besides bourbon* for the past several years, and it's been fruitless. And now I see ER, which had been fairly plentiful out here in SoCal, is starting to disappear off the shelves of my usual places, goddammit.
  13. I've met one or two people who don't like his voice -- too nasally, too Dylan-esque, etc. -- so they aren't fans of his songs. I don't hang out with those people.
  14. I didn't really sit up and take special notice of Petty until 1979, when Damn the Torpedoes came out. The AOR station I often listened to at the time would occasionally play "Breakdown" or "I Need to Know" (both of which I liked), but Petty didn't really register heavily with me until one of the DJs started raving about Damn The Torpedoes in '79. "Don't Do Me Like That" had been released as the first single (another great song), and then when the album came out and the DJ was just gushing about how good the whole thing was, I finally got smart and bought the album. Thanks, Mr. DJ, wherever you may be.
  15. This situation is interesting, though, because the perp's "fictional" novel included the specific names of two of the actual victims, plus the actual names of other targets. Shades of Catherine Tramell . . . https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/12/29/denver-shooting-motive-investigation/9043823002/
  16. Condolences, my Longhorns brother.
  17. Plus the dialogue in the previous episode where she told Tom that she didn't love him and then tried to pass it off later as roleplaying/foreplay. That scene combined with her nonchalance when he was stressing about going to prison made him wake up and realize that he was expendable to her, although I do believe that she loves him on some level and vice versa.
  18. I made a variation of this comment to the wife (no pics) the other night when catching up on Season 3 before the season finale yesterday, i.e., I dig the show a lot but would personally want to bitch slap every main character if it was real. Roman in particular cracks me up, but I know I would want to throttle the snarky little shit at some point.
  19. Yes to Michter's (the bourbon, I assume), ER10, Russell's Reserve, and Maker's Cask. I know several people really like the Woodford Double Oaked, but I haven't had it. Jefferson's Reserve is okay but overshadowed by other bottles you can get for about the same $. All the others I haven't tried, except for Baker's, which I haven't had since Beam remade the brand.
  20. The movie was alright. Cage was very good.
  21. In terms of bottles that are almost always on the shelf at TW, I'd say Old Forester 1910 and 4 Roses Small Batch Select. Michter's and Knob Creek 12 are good choices as well.
