  1. https://texas.thefootballbrainiacs.com/2019/07/open-post-weekend-july-26th-28th/ TFB Open Post. WR recruiting, Juan Davis notes, Hayden Conner analysis, and visitors.
  2. LSU has a pretty great crop of in-staters (Thomas, Hilton, Pazon) that their boards will be pretty familiar with. Fud has been banging the drum for offering all of them so we can get the ones LSU has to pass on for national talent, Pazon specifically who can FLY. If you're LSU, you take any of the highly regarded national guys (Quay may be in this group), then fill the rest of your spots with in-staters. Boards always favor local products.
  3. 6) Donovan Jackson (+5)12) Tommy Brockermeyer (-2)17) Ja'Tavion Sanders (-1)33) LJ Johnson (-4)36) Billy Bowman (+1)46) Camar Wheaton (-4)51) Cody Jackson (+1)55) Clayton Smith (+2)62) Kaidon Salter (+28)68) Shemar Turner (-1)73) JoJo Earle (-1)74) Landon Jackson (-1)77) Savion Byrd (-41)82) Tunmise Adeleye (-2)93) Dematrius Davis (+5)100) Eli Stowers (+17)102) Jalen Milroe (-5)104) Behren Morton (+87)108) Reuben Fatheree (+4)109) Bryce Foster (+4)124) Elijah Arroyo (+247)130) Marcus Burris (+2)136) Tate Williams (+86)142) Preston Stone (-35)156) Ketron Jackson166) Jordon Thomas (+1)169) Jordan Jenkins171) Latrell McCutchin (+1)174) Quay Davis (+4)176) Shadrach Banks (-47)179) J.Michael Sturdivant (-84)195) Sawyer Robertson (-32)205) Kedrick Blackshire207) Garrett Nussmeier209) Andrew Mukuba (-1)215) Albert Regis (-2)222) Tavierre Dunlap (+84)230) Morice Blackwell (-1)238) Deuce Harmon (-1)241) Ismael Ibraheem (-1)242) Ezra Oyetade (+447)
  4. All three sites have done their pre-spring rankings updates. Here's the in-state composite rankings 1) Tommy Brockermeyer- OT 2) Camar Wheaton- RB 3) Ja'Tavion Sanders- EDGE/HB 4) Savion Byrd- OT 5) Donovan Jackson- Swing OL 6) Billy Bowman- DB/WR 7) Tunmise Adeleye- EDGE/SDE 8') LJ Johnson- RB 9) Preston Stone- QB 10) Bryce Foster- OG 11) JoJo Earle- WR 12) Jalen Milroe- QB 13) Shadrach Banks- WR 14) Marcus Burris- SDE 15) Latrell McCutchin- CB 16) Cody Jackson- WR 17) Garrett Nussmeier- QB 18) Quaydarius Davis- WR 19) Clayton Smith- EDGE 20) Landon Jackson- EDGE 21) Ishmael Ibraheem- CB 22) Dematrius Davis- QB 23) Reuben Fatheree- OT 24) Jaeden Roberts- OG 25) Eli Stowers- QB 26) Derrick Harris Jr- EDGE/LB 27) Kendrick Blackshire- DL 28) J. Michael Sturdivant- WR 29) Sawyer Robertson- QB 30) Theodore Knox- WR 31) Ketron Jackson- WR 32) JD Coffey- S - I think there are surprisingly few hugly overrated prospects, especially this early in the cycle. Preston Stone is the clear one. I think Milroe, Burris, McCutchin, Blackshire, Stowers, Fatheree, Harris, and K Jackson are all slightly overrated, but nothing to scream about - Terrence Cooks is the big one who's missing. He probably should be somewhere in the 5-15 range. El Arroyo should be in the top 30, and maybe even into the teens. I'd have James Brock somewhere in the 25-32 range. - I'd move Ibraheem, Quay Davis, and Landon Jackson up 5-10 spots each - My personal rankings at the top right now are T Brockermeyer, Ja'Tavion Sanders, Billy Bowman, Tunmise Adeleye, Donovan Jackson, Terrence Cooks, Savion Byrd, Landon Jackson, Ishmael Ibraheem, LJ Johnston, Camar Wheaton, Bryce Foster, Shadrack Banks, JoJo Earle, Quay Davis, Cody Jackson, Jalen Milroe. The guys on this list not in the top ten would be in most years, but this class is loaded with top ten types, imo. Adding the three who I think are missing to make a top 35, here's the area breakdown DFW- 17 (they have the top four, and seven of the top ten) Houston- 12 East Texas- 3 Central Texas (Waco down to San Antonio)- 1 West Texas- 1 IMG- 1 Golden Triangle- 0 Other- 0 This is a loaded DFW + Houston year, and a weak Central Texas/Golden Triangle/Other year
  5. the numbers are there but the evals are not. For example Sturdivant is ranked 13 in TX by 247. 4.67 40 and a 4.31 shuttle 22.3 200m. He does this not at 6'5" but at 6'2" and 180. Jaxson Smith-Njigba 6'1" 199 4.59 40 - 3.91 shuttle Demond Demas 6'3" 182 4.43 40 - 4.09 shuttle Loic Fouonji 6'5" 21.9 200m Quinten Johnson Freak athleticism and size. Hell, Parker Washington was just another name in the 2020 class. He had really good film and his testing? 4.57 40 - 4.13 shuttle at 200 pounds. How about Collin Sullivan from RR (Texas kicked the tires on him post-QJ) ended up at Purdue. 4.48 40 - 4.08 shuttle - 6'2.5" 194 the level of athlete in this WR class is just down in 2021, the rankings may not reflect it but guys like Sturdivant and Cody Jackson simply don't have the measureables to be ranked where they are. It's Jojo Earle, Quay Davis, and a bunch of guys.
  6. Damn our lone 5 star.. and coming from TFB..he's going to ou ain't he SMDH? I'm gonna lose it if my son Juan Davis decommits next
  7. Since we already have Juan Davis, he's behind Elijah Arroyo for the other TE spot, so there's going to be some finessing around slow playing him as this keeps going.
  8. It's not clear what Yurcich is going to want to do at WR to the outside world yet, so not sure about Davis and Earle. II is a stud but off the field isn't exactly clear yet.
  9. Nope and it doesn't appear that he's visited according to the 24/7 timeline. I guess he's not worth our staff's time. https://247sports.com/Player/Dematrius-Davis-46042948/TimelineEvents/
  10. Now that Gus is out, can we go try and snag this kid -- https://247sports.com/player/dematrius-davis-46042948/ Put him on the field somewhere, kid just flat out wins
  11. We've talked about if before but it's wild that Texas of all states could have a WR class that's just meh. Even the top 5 of the position starts getting wobbly after Earle and Davis.
  12. I just saw that Davis is 6'. He plays much taller than that. Watching his film I was thinking X but his height explains why people are putting him at Z.
  13. Landen King is a nice get to pair with Davis. Davis is severely underrated. His sister goes to Texas, we need an easy layup right now for some momentum. We’re the favorites right now for Cooks, Smith, Jayden Williams, Mubaka, Brooks, Jordan Thomas, and Coffey. Need to fight for Shemar Turner, Ibraheem, and Wheaton. Not sure what the hell we’re going to do at WR and OL. Looks like we’ve completely shit the bed at these two positions.
  14. I think they updated the composite for Rivals except for the State rankings part. Juan Davis moved up 10+ spots in-state on Rivals, but his composite hasn't been updated since last year.
  15. https://247sports.com/college/texas/Article/Texas-Longhorns-Football-Recruiting-Texas-commits-and-targets-Dave-Campbells-Super-Team-offense-Jalen-Milroe-Billy-Bowman-Hayden-Conner-Juan-Davis-148508307/
  16. Final rivals in-state rankings 1) Tommy Brockermeyer 2) Donovan Jackson 3) Ja'Tavion Sanders 4) Bryce Foster 5) Clayton Smith 6) Tunmise Adeleye 7) Camar Wheaton '8) Shemar Turner 9) JoJo Earle 10) LJ Johnson 11) Billy Bowman 12) Quay Davis 13) Reuben Fatheree 14) Jalen Milroe 15) Latrell McCutchin 16) Garrett Nussmeier 17) Savion Byrd 18) JD Coffey 19) Kendrick Blackshire 20) Preston Stone 21) Deuce Harmon 22) Marcus Burris 23) Kaidon Salter 24) Ezra Dotson-Oyetade 25) Hunter Washington 26) Ketron Jackson 27) Brandon Campbell 28) Shadrach Banks 29) J. Michael Sturdivant 30) Sawyer Robertson 31) Andrew Mukuba 32) Cody Jackson 33) Elijah Arroyo 34) Theodore Knox https://n.rivals.com/prospect_rankings/rivals250/2021 I watched zero senior hudls, but no Terrance Cooks seems par for the course for Rivals
  17. Stone is because he started so high ranking wise...not a great trend here: Davis has been hovering in the 130-150 range since inception: https://247sports.com/PlayerSport/Dematrius-Davis-at-North-Shore-205357/RecruitRankHistory/ Salter is wild...composite info here: https://247sports.com/PlayerSport/Kaidon-Salter-at-Cedar-Hill-227477/RecruitRankHistory/ composite: Top 247: How often do guys go from outside the top 500 to inside the top 100 in a 6 month timeframe (and stay there)
  18. Pretty much all this. Im not concerned about the position. I’m concerned about optics but mostly that we’re doing stupid shit behind the scenes. The auburn and davis shit actually makes me feel somewhat better.
  19. Well none of our current commits, minus Davis, are outside the top 20 of their position according to 24/7. I know that will change but keep loading up. Doesn’t hurt to be #2 in the rankings 1.5 years out.
  20. We're going to have to scramble/hustle to find some underrated kids to fill out the class, unfortunately, unless we can flip JoJo (might be doable, he never visited LSU and it feels like he might have been told to commit or lose his spot) and/or decide to take Quay. Michael Jackson III and Presley are solid takes, and hopefully we land them, but we'd need two more. Might make sense to find a talented transfer from the 2019 or 2020 classes who isn't happy with his situation.
  21. Between Virginia parachuting in to tell us how shitty Jahdae Barron must be bc of his Rivals ranking and you pulling this about King and Davis, we've got some real mental midgets about recruiting on the board.
  22. Milroe also gives you a guy in the Houston area that other recruits would take notice and he could help with. Dallas area already looks good for this class with Davis and potentially Duncanville and DeSoto kids getting on board.
  23. I think we were in on him early before everyone else (or maybe it was Juan Davis i.e. Katfid)... typically when we're in on a guy 1st it works out. I would be surprised if aggy had the lead on him..
  24. How do I remove rep? I don't want like or hate Burntcowboy's post. I just want to hate Brian Davis with his fucked up lyric changes which do nothing but fuck up the song.
  25. QB's usually commit early and that's been the case since Herman has been here. Davis is probably the top WR in-state next year. No way you say no to someone like Bowman. The staff wasn't going to say no to Conner.
