You talked about program culture and outbound players, and your point was dumb. Our outbound numbers are not unique.

Well, than our program isn't as "special" as some people on here think it is. You must not have ever played football in your life if you think losing depth at key positions won't hurt. Especially at OL, where we've only signed one player.

Get used to it.

You're just an asshole who's never played and doesn't understand how lost depth correlates with underperformance. Yet you're on here calling other poster's opinions "dumb". GFY

We were this close and still lost both games. This isn’t the flex you think it is.

The entire Game might not have been as embarrassing against tOSU (actually, I agree it wasn’t), but that fucking pitch play into the wide side Of the field with our SLOWEST RB and less blockers than defenders on that side CERTAINLY was.

I thought to myself, I see now how they lost to SMU and Louisville. You are also going to get a few inexplicable Carson Beck games that you have to overcome too. Indiana and Oregon are not those types of teams out there undisciplined and shooting themselves in the foot all game.

you’re like helobious and greenspoint level regarded after seeing Oregon shit down their leg for 4 qtrs Friday night.

I don't know why you expect Sark to be able to make good offensive play calls when he has to be out there babysitting the defense

Thanks, Al Bundy.

Yeah, but Sark was in a completely different situation in his first two season. He inherited a bad roster, his players weren't experienced, he was in a tougher conference, the school wasn't ready to spend, the portal was different, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. 😆

Fair or not, Cignetti has re-set the bar for expectations. You're either smart enough to take advantage of the current system or it's taking advantage of you.

This season and the aftermath has been a mess for Sark. Your offense sucked because...you had to be charge of the defense? Okay, got it.

The verdict is still out on him, but thanks to people like Cignetti, he is pretty much out of excuses. So are a lot of other coaches.

And as someone who makes a shit-ton of money and has some of the deepest resources in the game, he sure better produce next year, or stakeholders have every right to question whether he is the person.

All fair points.

However, I would do that I would like to see Cignetti replicate this success (not necessarily champ game appearances, obviously) a few years down the road, using highly rated recruits. It’s a different animal coaching players that have least been rated as elite or whatever. It’s not harder, but just different.

The concern of every coach...a roster full of 5 stars.

Except not.

Texas is allowed to pay players just as much as all the other teams can now. Under those coaches you listed, we did not.

This fat fuck was advocating for Arch to leave Texas.

Fuck him.

Not enough credit is given to Sark for handling Ewers/Arch dynamic and putting Texas in that position. He was lucky to have two players who loved the team more than loved themselves. A rarity in modern college football, and a big reason why Texas has been successful over the past few years.

This idea that coaches make their own luck is ridiculous. Magical seasons like the 2005 team take a lot of things happening that are out of the control of coaching. Would anyone call Ogeron the greatest coach ever for catching one million bounces in his undefeated season? Takes a lot of good fortune, like VY Rugby passes not being called down and Texas Rbs dropping sure TDs against LSU, and Indiana Wrs tip tapping miracle catches to beat a Pedo St team that straight up outplayed Indiana. None of these moments are due to coach.

If Miami wins the NC not many on here will say that Cristobal is a better coach than Cignetti. The old adage that luck favors the prepared is way over played. Many coaches get lucky and their coaching has nothing to do with it. A lot of fans want Daddy to control the situation. The game rarely works that way.

A well prepared team is absolutely better prepared to capitalize on chance occurrences that are in their favor; likewise they are better able to mitigate chance occurrences that are not

I was watching a little clip the other day with some old school coach, I can't remember who it was? I think it was the Army coach from back in the day? Which makes this part fitting. He basically said: "football is the closest thing to an actual battle that there is. You have your ground forces and your air forces and they both complement each other. When we have everyone committed and knowing their role on both of those philosophies we're basically unbeatable."

The philosophy was basically taking ground with the running game and how relentlessly attacking with it will eventually lead to the lines breaking. If the defense is fortified in the middle, out flank them running outside. And use it to take ground rather than trying to score. That means having all 11 committed to taking ground (WRs blocking, everyone hitting a man, nobody is watching the play)

Then using the passing game like a bombing run to soften the defense to make gaining ground easier.

It was very interesting and makes a lot of sense.

TLDR: Sark isn't committed enough to the running game.
