seriously, i mean saka >>>>>> palmer. so what is it? is it just because he’s english and white? why does this guy constantly get included in stuff like this?

Palmer had a dogshit 2025 calendar year. But FIFpro is always a joke. Gave up following those awards a long time ago.

Van de Ven injures Isak on a horrible tackle that the refs don’t even notice. Cool

boxing day is always a good milepost on the season

villa now confirmed a threat

spurs in freefall

pool somehow climbing back to the chase group

he was awesome today. game should never have gone to penalties, but for his great play.

He’s only played in 1 friendly 2 years ago for Argentina, can we find some USA connection and have him do a one time switch?

I was just coming to pilost that I thought everyone usually played today.  One game is bullshit.  Stoke and Preston North End in the Championship are about to start on CBS Sports.

was just posting about this in the arsenal thread, but i keep seeing posts online which show that villa’s xG and expected points are wildly off what they’ve actually gotten. the last one i read said that villa was 20+ points ahead of where you would expect them to be based on the underlying metrics. and yet here they are, five minutes away from yet another win. good ebening indeed.

Chelsea with the Liverpool set piece defense

Villa with 11 wins in a row for the third time in club history, previously in 1897 and 1914. Wild stuff.

Yea it's crazy. You figure they come back down to earth....hopefully starting this week. And then there is ManC just hanging out with Haaland scoring like a goal a match.

whoa indeed. i have no clue how that happened.

the post was supposed to be about wenger’s proposed new offside rule supposedly being implemented as soon as next season.

here we go:

I really don’t see the reason for that rule change tbh.

it’ll make it to where goals are no longer disallowed after the fact because a defender’s big toenail was a quarter inch offside, which i think everyone would enjoy.

No it won’t. It would be a huge change where 99% of the attacker’s body could be offside but if the attackers big toenail is a quarter inch behind the defender they would be deemed onside.

I don’t see how it does that. It will just be the other end of the same issue.

What I think it will do is force back lines to play deeper and deeper which makes for shittier games. It might make more goals but it will make play less exciting overall

there’s no unfair advantage for the attacking team whenever some random defender’s shoelace keeps you offside on a play where you need slow mo instant replay and a computer system to actually determine whether or not you’re onside. this will get rid of those asinine instances and will make being offside by a half an inch 100x easier to stomach. it’s a way better idea than what we’ve currently got.

I promise you the first time Arsenal give up a goal to a guy that looks 4 feet offside but is kept onside by a shoelace after a 5 minute VAR review you will hate Wegner’s rule 100x more than the current rules.

It’s a dumb idea that goes against the way offsides has been interpreted by fans, players, and officials for decades.

It’s exactly the same. There are still going to be extremely tight calls regardless of where we draw the line.

All this does is change the way the game has been played. And like I said, this will lead to fewer high defensive lines which means more shitty low block games.

Looks like Villa's luck has finally run out.

trossard!!!! gimme all three!!! 🔴

i mean right now at this very moment we are checking to see if hincapie is offside or not:

i could not be more indefatigable in my belief that calling off goals because of shit like this in the build up is terrible for the sport and needs to go. did arsenal really get an unfair advantage if hincapie’s heel is half an inch ahead of that defender that’s 10 yards away? of course not. and the fact that you need replays and computer technology just to see if he was offside or not really says it all. nobody wants to see their team lose a goal/win/title because of this type of offside call. nobody.
